A Miracle Happened to Me

At noon on November 23, 2007, I went shopping on my motorcycle. At a crossing not far from my home, a truck hit me and knocked me down. I did not realize what was happening, and I flew off the motorcycle and was standing in the middle of the road. The motorcycle was damaged.

I was shocked and disoriented, but after a while, I called my wife and she hurriedly came to see if I was injured and if I was in any pain. By then, I had started to check myself out to see if I was alright. Surprisingly, I did not have any injuries. My legs were just trembling because I was scared. After hearing this, my wife calmed down and said, "Since you were not injured, we can repair the motorcycle ourselves." She then told the truck driver that he could leave.

The truck driver couldn't believe what he was hearing. He asked my wife, "Madam, are you letting me go? It is very hard nowadays to meet such good people like you. Are you setting me up?" My wife told him, "Seriously, you can leave now." I led my wife to the side of the road and asked her, "How can we handle it like this? The truck driver needs to pay the expense to repair my motorcycle." My wife said, "My mother often told us to handle things according to the principles of 'Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance.' Being nice to others is the same as being nice to oneself. Benevolence and forgiveness are virtues, and also you are carrying truth-clarification materials!"

By then, I realized that it was Teacher that saved me. So my wife and I let the truck driver go. We then began to look for a place to repair the motorcycle.
