Ms. Wang Qi Beaten and Abused after Being Arrested in Gansu Province
(Clearwisdom.net) On November 25, 2007, police arrested Ms. Wang Qi, a
computer instructor at the Ming Xin Computer School in Xifeng City, Gansu
Province. They interrogated her and extorted money from her family. Arrested and Items Confiscated Around 6:00 p.m. on November 25, 2007, Wang Qi, in her 20s, was walking down
a street. Five young policemen emerged from a mini-bus and forced her to go to
South Street Police Station. They ripped her bag that held a copy of Zhuan
Falun, six amulets(1), a postcard for the Mid-Autumn Festival, a Ming
Xin Computer School pen, and a cell phone. They also confiscated three
hand-written cards with Falun Gong phrases written on them. Interrogation under Duress Twenty minutes after her arrest, they attempted to transfer her to the Middle
Street Police Station, but officials there refused to accept her, and neither
did officials at the Domestic Security Division. The police had to take her to
South Street Police Station, where officers threatened her in turn and ordered
her to tell them her name, address, and where her Dafa book and postcards came
from. Ms. Wang said nothing. At last the police chief interrogated her. They
took her to a separate room, handcuffed her, and punched and kicked her. They
shouted at her and demanded to know where the things came from. She said some
passerby gave them to her. The chief grabbed Zhuan Falun and beat her
everywhere, handcuffed her again, and tried to force her to tell where the
things came from. Another police officer stood by for help. At last, against her
will, Wang Qi told them the pertinent information, but the chief didn't believe
her. He removed the handcuffs and used them to beat her on her leg. They also
said, "Even if Falun Gong members are beaten to death, they die for
nothing, and their family might never know about it." Then the officer who had initially interrogated her told her a lie, "You
are so young and should think about your future. You need to "reform"
as soon as possible. As long you tell us, we will release you at once. If you
don't tell us, we will put you in prison." They gave her a piece of paper,
full of words attacking Falun Gong, and ordered her to sign it. Wang Qi refused.
They changed to another sheet with her name and address and made her sign it.
After that she was still not set free but was incarcerated with two male
prisoners. The guards didn't give her any food and water and refused to let her
go to the restroom. They forced her to sit on prisoners' seats, two lines of
cold cement steps against walls. She refused to admit she was a prisoner, and
refused to sit where she was told to. Then the police ordered the two prisoners
to push her down to sit. At night, the duty officer slept on a bed outside of
the room. She repeatedly asked to use the toilet and eventually got permission. The next morning, the chief and a driver transferred her to the Domestic
Security Division. Two heads of the division there thought the case was not very
serious and were reluctant to accept her. The police station chief said,
"No one wants her. Take her back and send her to the police department
chief." Ms. Wang Qi was still held at South Street Police Station, in
complete violation of the Chinese constitution. The Authorities Force the School's Administrator to Dismiss Wang Qi A tall, slim police officer called school administrator Feng Xiaomin
(86-934-6462168) and forced him to fire Wang Qi from her job. Police Department Chief Participates in the Persecution A few officers from the Domestic Security Division arrived soon after,
including a woman and a man, taking several pages of records. They asked her
address, name, and age and other things, photographed her, and fingerprinted
her. Then the South Street Police Station head arrived and demanded to know her
address again, but Wang Qi didn't reply. He shouted, "We'll send you to
prison at once if you don't reply. No one will care, even if we beat you to
death." Ms. Wang, replied, "I won't go. That's not the place I should
go. I will go home." Duping Relatives South Street Police Station officials took her cell phone away from her. Her
uncle and older sister's phone numbers were stored in the phone. They used the
phone to call her sister-in-law who asked them how come they had Wang Qi's cell
phone. They lied and said they had picked it up somewhere and also said they
wouldn't sell it and only wanted to be treated to a meal. They said again that
if it was not convenient, just to give them Wang Qi's information and they would
send the cell phone to her home. Her sister-in-law naively told them everything
they wanted to know, believing they would keep their promise, like good people
do, and then send Ms. Wang's cell phone to her. When her sister-in-law phoned
back again, no one answered. They phoned Wang Qi's sister-in-law's parents several times and also called
Wang Qi's home to tell lies that Wang Qi had borrowed money from them and not
returned it, so they took her cell phone. They said if someone came and paid
them so much money, she might get the cell phone back. "We might wait for
you at the Xifeng crossroads." Wang Qi's female relative said that they
didn't want the cell phone. The captors then said they were holding a person and
wondered if they wanted her back. Wang Qi's younger brother called back and no
one answered. Later on they called Wang Qi mother's brother and misled him, saying they had
picked up a bag and asked him to retrieve it from them by paying 500 yuan
at the Xifeng crossroads. Wang Qi's uncle and aunt went to the crossroads and
didn't find the person who called them. Her aunt wondered if bad people had
captured Wang Qi and reported this to the nearby police station, which happened
to be South Street Police Station. They were told they had a young woman in
custody named Wang Qi. Being Forced to Sign and Having 300 Yuan Extorted from Her Family In the afternoon, a police officer forced Ms. Wang to give them information
about her family members' addresses, their names and education levels, and other
data and fingerprinted her. They recorded everything and threatened her, telling
her not to distribute truth clarification materials any more. They told her to
write a statement: "I was arrested by 110 officers (equivalent to the
"911" response teams in the US) and taken to the South Street Police
Station because of Falun Gong materials in my bag. I swear that I will no longer
distribute such materials." Wang Qi was forced to sign the statement. Her
aunt also wrote and signed a statement that South Street Police Station agents
had arrested her because there were Falun Gong materials in her niece's bag. The
officials also counter-signed. Southern Street Police Station officials demanded that Wang Qi's maternal
uncle pay them an extortion fee of 500 yuan, but he only had 300 yuan. Then Wang
Qi's uncle and aunt took Wang Qi home. Note: (1) Amulets -- In China, practitioners sometimes clarify the
truth by giving people something small to wear or cherish, bearing a few
words reminding them of the goodness of Dafa. December 18, 2007
