Police Torture Ms. Chi Yan Even After Prior Abuse Left Her Critically Ill
(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Chi Yan from Tonghua City, Jilin Province, was a
very healthy person before she was persecuted. However, under Chinese Communist
Party rule, she was subjected to such brutal treatment mentally, physically, and
financially that she developed an incurable illness. The labor camp guards
intentionally delayed her treatment and now her health has deteriorated. Ms. Chi Yan, 53 years old, was originally a teacher at the Experiment
Elementary School of Tonghua City. She started practicing Falun Gong in 1995 and
achieved great improvements in body and mind. The illnesses she had suffered
from for many years, such as neurosis, heart disease and arthritis, all
disappeared and her irritable temperament also completely changed. Falun Gong
gave her a new life. However, the CCP started persecuting Falun Gong unjustifiably in July 1999.
In July 2000, Ms. Chi went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. She was arrested
and sent to Heizuizi Women's Forced Labor Camp in Changchun City by officials of
the Political Security Section, Dongchang District Police Department of Tonghua
City. She was illegally sentenced to one year of forced labor.
Personnel in the labor camp forced her to undergo brainwashing sessions. They
also tortured her with electric batons, forced her to do hard labor and brutally
tortured her mentally in an attempt to force her to give up her belief. One day, Chi Yan suddenly discovered a lump in her breast. The lump was later
diagnosed as breast cancer. Cultivating Falun Gong had given Ms. Chi health and
happiness. However, such intense abuse took its toll on her body and mind until
she finally developed cancer. In 2001, personnel from the police department in Jilin Province arrested her
again right after the Changchun City's TV signal was tapped into and
truth-clarification videos were broadcast on March 5. The police restrained her
on an iron chair and tortured her while interrogating her. The
police used four high voltage electric batons to shock her simultaneously for
long periods of time. They poured water on her, soaked her, and shocked her with
high voltage electric batons. The intense blue sparks of high voltage
electricity made her go into convulsions. The guards shocked her legs,
underarms, eyes, inside the mouth, neck, and breasts for a long time and the
interrogation room was filled with the smell of burnt flesh. When she told the
guard that there was a tumor in her breast, the guard said, "I will then
shock the tumor." He then started shocking her relentlessly. After several
days of torture, Chi Yan had wounds all over her body. Layers upon layers of
wounds from the electric shocks covered her underarms and turned into a hard
shell. Her breast swelled so badly that it frightened those who saw her, and her
neck swelled as big as her face with bloody blisters all over it. Her legs were
covered with densely distributed wounds. Her teeth were loosened, and her mouth
swelled badly. Her hands were terribly swollen from being handcuffed, and she
lost feeling in her fingers. Her two little fingers did not recover for six
months. When she was sent back to the detention center, her condition frightened
several dozen people in the cells and they all cried. In May 2001, Chi Yan was sent to a forced labor camp. The sixth production
team head, Li Tong, knew that she had a tumor in her breast, but he did not
allow her to see a doctor outside the camp and repeatedly delayed taking her to
a doctor. At that time, Chi Yan had severe swelling in her underarms and she
could not sleep well through the night. She was emaciated, but was still forced
to do hard labor. The labor camp did not let her to go to an outside hospital
until November. When she was escorted to the provincial cancer hospital, after
the examination, the doctor said, "It is too late to do anything."
Then the personnel at the labor camp finally started to process her bail for
medical treatment. Team head Li Tong said to others, "She can probably last
for only a few weeks." After Chi Yan went home, she did not go to work because of her illness. In
2005, personnel of the Dongchang District 610 Office in Tonghua City
held brainwashing sessions. The heads of the school and the Bureau of Education
looked for her everywhere and tried to make her to go to the brainwashing
sessions. They threatened her, saying that if she refused to go they would stop
her salary. In November 2005, because Ms. Chi refused to go to the brainwashing
session, the Bureau of Education stopped her salary, claiming falsely that she
had left her job voluntarily. February 20, 2008
