(Clearwisdom.net) Today's News from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 14 cities or counties in 9 provinces. In this report, 23 Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to brutal treatment during their detention and at least 20 practitioners were illegally arrested.

On January 26, 2008, Ms. Yin Xinxiao was illegally arrested by Liaoyuan Road Police Station. She was beaten by the police everyday and was not allowed to go to sleep. She was tortured until she became extremely pale. Her eyes were red and swollen, and she was exhausted. On February 2, she was transferred to the police station in Yanan Road. They would not allow her family members to visit her.

Ms. Liu Chunling from Xiaoshiqiao District, Old Gulou Street, Beijing, was arrested from her home on February 3, 2008. She is now "illegally detained" at the Xicheng District Detention Center.

On the evening of January 24, 2008, the police from Yixingfu Police Station went to Mr. Li Lixin's home to harass him and search his home. After 2 p.m. the next day, five police cars with over ten officers went to his home and forcibly confiscated his New Tang Dynasty TV receiver. The police also took a computer, a suitcase filled with Dafa books, truth-clarifying materials, a recorder, etc. They took Li Lixin with them.

On January 28, 2008, Ms. Gao Yunxia, from Changshou District, Chongqing City, was transferred from Tieshanping Youth Forced Labor Camp to Yongchuan Women's Prison.

Ms. Sun Jie was clarifying the truth about Falun Gong on the train from Shanghai to Shenyang. She was reported, and the police on the train arrested her and sent her to Zhangshi Brainwashing Center at Bajing Street, Heping District, Shenyang City.

At around 6 p.m. on January 19, 2008, Ms. Sang Jiying and Mr. Li Chongqing from Haidian District, Beijing, were arrested while they were distributing truth-clarifying materials in the Kerong Building in Haidian Town, Haidian District.

On January 23, 2008, the police department in Dachang County, Langfang City, Hebei Province, arrested several local Falun Gong practitioners. At present, Ms. Guo Dahui is still illegally detained at Dachang County Detention Center and suffering persecution.

In the beginning of February 2008, Ms. Liu Anqi and her husband Mr. Hu from Xiaohe District in Guiyang City went to Kaiyang County to clarify the truth. They were arrested and detained for 15 days. They were picked up by 610 Office personnel from the Xiaohe District in Guiyang City and taken to Lannigou Brainwashing Center in Guiyang City.

On the afternoon of February 17, 2008, Handan practitioner Mr. Yang Baochun ran away from the mental hospital. The hospital detained his family members for an hour before releasing them. At around 11 p.m., Mr. Yang was taken from his home back to the mental hospital.

When personnel from the National Security Team and 610 Office of Liaoyuan City visited practitioner Ms. Sun Liping's home, they took out some prepared materials and told Ms. Sun that they had found those truth-clarification materials while searching her home. They then arrested her.

Most of the approximately 25 practitioners detained at Liaoyuan City Detention Center are now sentenced to forced labor. We already know that the following practitioners have been sent to the forced labor camp: Ms Gu Jiumei, Ms. Li Changlan, Ms. Shi Lihua, Ms. Sun Liping, Mr. Ding Changjie, and Mr. Li Haibo. Mr. Ding Wenrong and Mr. Li Guangzhong were sentenced to forced labor but will be held outside the camp. Ms. Zhao Shufang is still being held in the detention center.

Mr. Chen Zixian from Tianzhu County was again illegally arrested in January 2006 because he was clarifying the truth in public. He was sent to Zhongba Forced Labor Camp in Guizhou Province. Due to the torture methods used, the bones separated in one of his hands. He cannot move his hand at all.

In January 2008, Ms. Xie Chenghui, a nurse from the Internal Medicine Department at the No. 1 City Hospital in Jinan City, went to clarify the truth to villagers and was reported. She was arrested by Licheng 610 Office personnel. Her home was ransacked and a huge sum of money was extorted from her. She was placed under house arrest and later sent to a brainwashing center.

On February 3, 2005, State Security agents from Meizhou City, Meijiang District 610 Office, and the national security team of the district branch police station arrested Mr. Xie Hanzhu, Ms. Guo Yafen, Mr. Liu Liping, Mr. Zhou Jinrong, and Ms. Zhao Yumei. On September 16, 2005, Xie Hanzhu and Liu Liping were "illegally sentenced" by Meizhou City Court and sent to the No. 3 Jail in Guangdong Province. Guo Yafen was sentenced to 11 years and then sent to Guangzhou Women's Jail. There is no further information about Zhou Jinrong and Zhao Yumei.

On February 18, 2008, at around 11:20 a.m., Cheng Jianyang and Zhao Jianxing from the National Security Team of Ruzhou City Police Department broke into the home of Mr. Lu Shejiao in Zhibei Village, Zhifang Township, Ruzhou City. They arrested Mr. Lu and his wife and took them to the city police station. The pair were placed in solitary confinement on the fifth floor and then detained in the city's detention center.

Mr. Lu and Ms. Han were previously arrested on September 6, 2007, and were held in the local detention center for 40 days. They were freed on October 17, 2007.

Ms. Liu Fanqin from Beipei District, Chongqing City, is detained in Chongqing Women's Forced Labor Camp. She is unable to care for herself as a result of the brutal treatment she has been subjected to.

Ms. Liu Yuling was arrested by National Security Team officers in Longan District, Anyang City, and she is being held in Anyang Detention Center.

On February 3, 2003, members of the neighborhood association went to the home of Ms. Sun

Li. Ms. Sun, who is 75, clarified the truth to them, but they did not accept what she said. The next day, neighborhood association members and the police went to Ms. Sun's home with a search warrant and took her away.

On January 2, 2008, Shunqing District Control Office and National Security Team from the branch police department transferred practitioner Mr. Han Guangrong to Huarong Town Brainwashing Center in the Xinjin District, Chengdu City. They did not allow his family members to visit him.
