Practitioner Zhang Yueming Arrested in Zhuozhou City, Hebei Province

(Clearwisdom.net) At 8 p.m. on March 27, 2008, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zhang Yueming of Zhuozhou City, in Hebei Province went out to distribute truth-clarification materials. However, she was reported to the authorities, and is being held at the Qingliangshi Police Station.

Ms. Zhang Yueming, who is 54 years old, is a resident of the Qingliangshi District. She started to practice Falun Gong in 1997. At that time, Ms. Zhang had chronic health problems, including headaches and gastric pain. Furthermore, she was extremely ill-tempered, petty, and calculating. Her husband encouraged her to learn the Falun Gong exercises because he heard of the miraculous healing effects. At that time, Ms. Zhang had already retired. After she started to practice the exercises, she received both mental and physical benefits. Her temper also became better, and all her illnesses went away. She thus did not need to continue her medication. Moreover, the family became more harmonious.

However, when the persecution started on July 20, 1999, Ms. Zhang's prior work unit pressured her to stop practicing Falun Gong. Her husband also started to oppose her practicing. But Ms. Zhang felt that Falun Gong brought dramatic positive changes to her. She had seen the benefits for herself and thus she wanted to persist in the practice. Ms. Zhang went to appeal for Falun Gong on April 25, and she went to Tiananmen Square to speak up for Falun Gong. As a result, she was fined on many occasions. She was fined 11,000 yuan after one arrest, 3,000 yuan after someone reported her to the authorities, and 1,000 yuan after she was illegally arrested when distributing truth-clarifying materials. Her residence was also ransacked by the police on two occasions.

The arrests have had a negative impact on Ms. Zhang's family members, especially her husband. Her husband has high blood pressure and a weak heart. He felt that they were law-abiding citizens all their lives. He had never expected his residence to be ransacked by the police or that his wife would be sent to the police station. He also never expected to ask for help from others in such matters. Ms. Zhang's daughter is married and with children. She is frequently worried for her mother.

According to insider news, officers of the National Security Team and the police station of Zhuozhou City are currently arresting any practitioner who puts up banners or distributes truth-clarification materials. Moreover, they will not release any practitioners whom they have arrested.
