Plumber Helps the Family of a Persecuted Falun Gong Practitioner
A water pipe in a Falun Gong practitioner's home in Jingshan, Hubei Province was clogged. She hired a plumber to clean out the pipe, but the plumber's estimate was higher than what she could afford. She explained to the plumber that her husband was in prison for clarifying the truth about Falun Gong to people and that she stays at home to look after her children because of her poor health. She asked if the plumber could give her a discount because she does not have a reliable income.
The plumber said, "Your husband is truly admirable. He is not in jail for himself, but for the Chinese people. I have seen a Falun Gong program on VCD. Falun Gong is remarkable, indeed." The plumber charged her only 20 yuan for the repair.
After a while, the plumber called on her and said, "I have been told that you are having a very difficult time. I cannot charge you even 20 yuan. I am returning the money to you. I have come several times, but you were not home." She refused the money and said, "You deserve proper reimbursement for your service. I must not take the money back." But the plumber insisted on returning the money. Eventually he stuffed the money into her hands and left before she could return it.
A Copy of the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party Shared by a Teacher and His Student
When a college student returned to his hometown during winter vacation, he visited one of his high school teachers. The student saw a copy of the Nine Commentaries in the teacher's home and asked to borrow it so that he could show it to his roommates. The teacher was reluctant to part with it. He said, "My family has not read it yet." The student suggested, "May I borrow it for two days then? I can transcribe the book on my PC and print out a copy for you in exchange for this pocket version. Will that do?" The teacher consented.
There were only two days left before the end of the winter vacation. The student spent a little over a day to transcribe the entire contents of the Nine Commentaries and printed out a hard copy for his teacher. Then he brought the pocket version back to school.
