On April 17, 2008, the first Divine Performing Arts (DPA) show in New Zealand deeply touched the local New Zealand Chinese. They not only admired the performance, but also greatly enjoyed the profoundness of the Chinese traditional culture that was presented. After the show in the ASB Theater, many of them expressed their appreciation and praise.

Former University Professor: If You Understand the Historical Background, You Have a Different Feeling

A former university professor took her son and her friend to the show. She likes Chinese history and thinks China has a long and amazing history. She said, "I think the five thousand years of Chinese history is marvelous. Having a performance company dedicated to promoting Chinese traditional culture and reaching this high level of performance is a great thing."

She feels that if one knows more about the background and stories, one is even more touched. "I liked 'The Lady of The Moon.' Especially Houyi's dance with music was fabulous. I used to be a teacher and I understand these historical stories. I think they are fantastic. Regarding 'The Loyalty of Yue Fei,' if you understand the historical background, you have a totally different feeling."

She gave the entire performance high marks. She thought that every performer danced so precisely and displayed the details of Chinese dance. She said, "It was so detailed in every movement. It was fantastic. This was truly great dance."

Her son, Stephen, was very excited about the drums and said, "This drumming performance was very nice and inspiring. If there is a chance, I would like to learn drumming."

Her friend was also very proud of the Chinese culture. She said, "I liked the costumes a lot. They were so elegant and magnificent."

"The Lady of The Moon" Almost Brought Me to Tears

Mr. Liu came to New Zealand to attend school over a month ago. He was amazed by the show. He said, "I felt the show was too short. I wanted to see more."

He was disappointed that taking pictures was not allowed during the show. He said, "What moved me the most was 'The Lady of The Moon.' It was so beautiful, vivid, and moving. I almost cried."

Mr. Liu came from China recently. When he saw "The Risen Lotus Flower" program that depicts Falun Gong practitioners being persecuted in China, he was pleased and said, "I did not see much about Falun Gong when I was in China. It is pretty good. They follow the principles of 'Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance," do good things, and do not kill. These are all good things. They are not like what the CCP describes."

Proud of Being Chinese and Proud of Chinese Culture

Mr. James Situ grew up overseas. His hometown is Guangzhou, Guangdong Province. He and his half-Chinese wife Rose came to enjoy the show together. He felt very proud being a Chinese after the show. He said, "This show is simply a miracle. It is fantastic. Although I cannot speak Chinese very well, this show demonstrates the greatness of Chinese culture to the world. I am very happy to see this show."

He said, "It was a nice surprise at the very beginning of the show. The drumming performance and the appearance of angels, Buddha and Gods were all amazing. All the performances were marvelous and beautiful."

The show allowed him to understand Chinese traditional culture for the first time. Mr. Situ said, "I am very proud of the performers bringing the spirit of Chinese culture to the whole world and telling the entire world how good Chinese people can do."
