Wisconsin: Mayor of the City of Madison Proclaims Falun Dafa Day (Photo)

Cieslewicz proclaimed May 13, 2008, as Falun Dafa Day Honoring Truthfulness,
Compassion, and Forbearance, in the city of Madison, Wisconsin. Mayoral Proclamation Whereas, Falun Dafa, also known as Falun Gong is a
peaceful and healthy self-improvement practice rooted in ancient Chinese culture
that centers around the universal principle of Truthfulness, Compassion and
Forbearance and consists of five gentle exercises, including meditation; and Whereas, the teachings of Falun Dafa, through meditation
and spiritual cultivation, are perceived as an effective means of improving
overall mental and physical health, as well as reducing stress; and Whereas, Master Li Hongzhi, the founder of Falun Dafa,
has helped hundreds of millions across the world improve their health and moral
standards, as well as deepen their understanding of life, humanity and the
universe, through the practice of Falun Dafa; and Whereas, transcending culture and racial boundaries,
Falun Dafa has touched the lives of more than 100 million people in over 60
countries, including many people in Wisconsin, of different ages, professions
and racial backgrounds; and Whereas, all Falun Dafa activities, including classes and
practices, are offered by volunteers and are open to the public and are free of
charge; and Whereas, the persecution of the practitioners of Falun
Dafa in China is an attack on basic human rights and should not be tolerated
anywhere in the world; Now, Therefore, Be It Resolved, that the Mayor of the
City of Madison, Wisconsin does hereby proclaim May 13, 2008, as Falun Dafa Day in the city of Madison. Mayor David J. Cieslewicz Signed and sealed this 5th day of May 2008 at City
Hall.
