(Clearwisdom.net) The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is using the Olympics to escalate the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. At the end of April of 2008, CCP's Jiawang Court in Xuzhou City, Jiangsu Province, secretly sentenced about 10 practitioners to jail terms longer than three years. The behind-the-scenes culprit was from the 610 Office in Xuzhou City.

Practitioners who were sentenced included: Wei Xinshe, Lu Shouhua, Wei Feng, Meng Qingquan, Wang Qinli, He Peixiu, Niu Shuxia, Li Hu, Zhang Chengjin, and Sun Jinfu. They have appealed to the Intermediate Court in Xuzhou City. We hope international investigative organizations and human rights organizations pay attention to this incident.

The above practitioners have been detained since their arrests in January 2007. The court did not inform their families when they were sentenced, nor did any responsible parties provide any reasons for their arrests and detainment. These practitioners are good people in their work places, their homes, and in society, but the CCP is using the Olympics as an opportunity to severely persecute them simply because there are articles on the Internet exposing the persecution, of which they have been direct victims, and because they have clarified the truth to people, which is their legal right as citizens.

Mr. Wei Xinshe, Lu Shouhua, and Wei Feng are a family of three who have been tortured multiple times by the CCP. In 2002, Mr. Wei Xinshe was beaten by several officers in Luning Brainwashing Center, rendering him unconscious and later preventing him from being able to get out of bed and walk for a long time. Lu Shouhua was sent to a brainwashing center in Shandong, simply because there were articles on the Internet exposing the persecution these practitioners were being subjected to. The authorities took away their personal belongings, such as computers; detained them for more than a year; and then sentenced them to jail terms.

Wang Qingli and He Peixiu are a couple. Both of them are detained and their young child at home has neither income nor anyone to provide care. There are many cases like this among practitioners.
