Melbourne, Australia: Rally in Support of Quitting the CCP (Photos)
By a Falun Dafa practitioner in Melbourne
(Clearwisdom.net) On June 8, 2008, a rally was held in the heart of
Melbourne, Australia in support of the 38 million courageous people who have
quit the CCP. Many Chinese people stopped to read the display boards at
Melbourne's Quit the CCP rally People sign the "One Million Signatures" petition to
call for an end to the persecution of Falun Gong before the Beijing Olympic
Games Police request immediate reports if similar CCP intervention happens in
Melbourne The Quit the CCP service center in Melbourne holds frequent rallies and
parades. The President of the Falun Dafa Association in Victoria, Mr Xiao
Zhonghua said, "When the Victorian police headquarters learned of recent
events in Flushing, police officers contacted us to request a meeting. They
asked many questions, and finally guaranteed they would unquestionably protect
our rights to peaceful protest and parade. They ask that if we receive any
pressure from the CCP, or if any similar events take place in Melbourne, that we
contact the police immediately so they can put a stop to it. They will also
communicate with other local authorities so they can be well prepared." The drama played out by Chinese students at the Human Rights Torch Relay in
Canberra resembled the young Red Guards during China's Cultural Revolution.
Police were alarmed, and indicated they are still collecting evidence, but that
it is already obvious the Chinese Embassy and Consulates were controlling things
behind the scenes. A number of people involved in violent outbreaks have been
arrested, and face deportation. As the police officers said, "Many people
who have come out from countries of dictatorship feel afraid when they see
police, because there the police exist and stand to speak for the government.
Here, our police serve to protect the legal rights of our people." There are eight Quit the CCP service points in Melbourne. General public supports "One Million Signatures" campaign The "One Million Signatures" campaign initiated by the
"Coalition to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong" (CIPFG) calls
for a stop to the persecution of Falun Gong before the Olympic Games. At the
rally, petition volunteer Wu Jiangguo said, "We have collected these
petitions for many months. Today the response has been quite good. We have
collected many signatures, many people walk to us of their own accord to support
the petition. We do not need to say very much, because they already understand
the situation. We will work toward submitting the petitions to the International
Olympics Committee before the Olympic Games." Mr Wu also said, "Internally, officials of the CCP also know its days
are coming to an end, but they refuse to be clearheaded, they refuse to create a
safe exit for themselves, but to continue their struggle before the end. This is
most tragic." WOIPFG spokesperson urges Chinese people not to believe lies and propaganda Spokesperson for The World Organization to Investigate the Persecution of
Falun Gong (WOIPFG) Mr Fan said in a speech that the CCP-directed brutality in
Flushing reminded him of the year 2000. That was when the Chinese Consulate in
Melbourne spread lies and propaganda against Falun Gong among the Chinese
community, in cooperation with the complete crackdown of Falun Gong in China.
They threatened Chinese media not to publish news and articles from Falun Gong
groups, but to publish slanderous information provided by the CCP. Rally supported by many Mr Pan Yong, a representative for the Melbourne Alliance of the Democratic
Movement of China, condemned, and expressed strong sentiments against the recent
activities in Flushing. He was solidly against such activities backed by the CCP. Mr Pan said, "2008 is no ordinary time. A continual sequence of
disasters have taken place in China, and how to avoid disaster should be every
persons concern. However, the Chinese Communist government cares little for the
life and death of its people. Instead of doing all they can to help people in
disaster, and save endangered lives, they have attempted to divert people's
attention, and use the Quit CCP service centers as scapegoats. Even though
natural disasters cannot be avoided, a large part of this recent disaster was a
result of man-made causes. The secretary of the Chinese Communist Political and
Judiciary Committee Zhou Yongkang has turned away from the pains of those
affected by disaster, and directed special agents to frame Falun Gong, and
divert hatred of overseas Chinese people against Falun Gong. This is a tactic
which the CCP has always used in its evil nature." "The crimes committed by the CCP have decided its fate of complete
disintegration. The continuance of the CCP's existence is the continuance of
sufferings for our fellow countrymen. To Quit the CCP is a requirement of
history, and the need of all Chinese people. " "We solidly support the Quit the CCP campaign, and support the
righteousness of human rights protection! Thus, in mourning for lost lives,
don't forget to tell those who are still living, Quit the evil CCP, in exchange
for a responsible society with humanity, which truly cares for its people." No good comes from communism Mr. Simon Verashaka spoke at the rally of his personal experiences while his
family lived under the Russian Communist regime in Ukraine. He said, "When
Ukraine was under communist rule, my mother's uncle was killed by the communists
because they suspected him. The Russian Communists destroyed the Ukraine
language and culture, and murdered many people. A lot of Ukrainians were thus
forced to leave their homeland. My mother's family escaped to Australia. My
grandmother, because she was a witness to the brutal massacres, became mentally
unsound. She constantly feared the Russian Communists would come to Australia
and take her life. She lived under extreme fear, and could only rely on electric
therapy." Juliana from Romania said, "For forty years of my life, I have lived
under communist rule. When I arrived in Australia during the 1980's, I have
experienced working with Chinese people. I find we have many things in common,
because communist regimes around the world are all the same [in their
brutality]. We have left our homeland, parted from our family, for the future of
our children, so they would not experience persecution, poverty and famine. What
I experienced during my 40 years in eastern Europe has been discussed in detail
in theNine Commentaries. Thus this book is a must for people
who have lived under communist rule. Only when we have a clear understanding of
the Communist regime, can we avoid the repeat of similar tragedies."
