Multiple Falun Dafa Practitioners from Zhenjiang City, Jiangsu Province Arrested

(Clearwisdom.net) On May 30, 2008, Falun Dafa practitioners Ms. Meng Fuyun and Mr. Chen Gaoyun from Zhenjiang City, Jiangsu Province were illegally arrested. In addition, practitioners Ms. Hu Jue, Ms. Lin, and Ms. Zhang Ruihua, went missing on the same day. Their whereabouts are still unknown.

Ms. Meng Fuyun, 60, is a retired worker. She was arrested on the afternoon of May 30 by police officers who also ransacked her home and took Falun Dafa books and other items.

Mr. Chen Gaoyun, who is reported to be in his forties, was harassed by police, who knocked on his door for over six hours starting at 2:00 p.m. on May 30. Eventually, more than ten police officers who had arrived in four police cars pried open the lock. They arrested Mr. Chen Gaoyun and confiscated a computer and some other items.

Officers from the Xuefu Road Police Station arrested Ms. Chen Guifang as she was distributing the "Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party" on December 26, 2007. She was sentenced to a three-year prison term. Ms. Chen Guifang has a dependent mother in her eighties who is now left to fend for herself.

Ms. Lu Guizhen was arrested by a police officer from Jingkou District Police Department in Zhenjiang City as she was distributing Falun Gong-related materials on January 12, 2008. She was sentenced to a one-year prison term and became ill due to mistreatment in detention. Her mental health is very poor. Despite frequent inquiries and requests for release by her family, the prison authorities have refused to release her.

Mr. Hu Yuanzi was sentenced to a one-year prison term. After his arrest there was no one to take care of his six year-old son, who has become very despondent and lost all of his joy of life. Every day, the boy eagerly awaits his dad's return home. Despite repeated requests by the family, the authorities have refused to release him.

Mr. Gong Jinyu was brutally tortured in Nantong City Prison until he was in critical condition. Even though he was released some time ago, he is still unable to take care of himself.
