Ms. Lu Yanling from Shulan City, Jilin Province Critically Ill Due to Mistreatment

(Clearwisdom.net) At around noon on March 12, 2008, Ms. Lu Yanling, a Falun Gong practitioner from Shulan City, Jilin Province, was illegally arrested by three police officers from the Nancheng Police Station and a group of police officers from the State Security Division. She was detained in Nanshan Detention Center, where she developed serious heart disease and other problems due to ill-treatment. Under the pretext of medical treatment, the authorities of the Shulan City Procuratorate transferred her to the Changchun City Police Hospital for further detention and abuse. At present, she is critically ill.

Ms. Lu's sister Lu Yanfang died as a result of CCP-instigated abuse. Ms. Lu Yanfang was persecuted again and again. Authorities at the Nancheng Police Station forced her to become destitute and leave home. After that, the police officers kept on searching for her, causing her intense mental stress. Consequently, she became ill and passed away on October 10, 2006.

Ms. Lu Yanling was born on December 20, 1956. She used to work at the clothing factory in Shulan City and live at No. 42, 3rd Community, Henan Street, Shulan City. After she was arrested on March 12, 2008, she was detained in Nanshan Detention Center, where she developed serious heart disease, gall bladder inflammation, diabetes, and an acute infection of the urethra. As a result, she could not eat for days. Zhuang Runjiang (male), director of the detention center, took her inability to eat as a hunger strike. Chen Shengqiu, a doctor at the detention center, force-fed her barbarically and hit her in the face until it was swollen. He brutally inserted a rubber tube through her nostril. Her nose kept bleeding, and Chen Shengqiu finally stopped, fearing that she might die. He called her daughter Ms. Bai Xue and said, "Your mother is in the hospital. Get money ready." She was hospitalized and charged more than 2,000 yuan for two days. At the hospital, the doctors diagnosed her coronary disease, gall bladder problem, diabetes, and inflamed urethra. Her case was then handed over to the Shulan City "Procuratorate," and her husband Bai Yongli asked Li Dongchuan, the deputy attorney-general, for her release. He responded, "Your wife is a Falun Gong practitioner--I would release anyone else except her."

Li Dongchuan went to the hospital. Instead of consulting the physician in charge, he talked to another doctor alone. Then he deceived Mr. Bai, telling him, "Your wife does not have any illness. She will be OK in a few days." Ms. Bai Xue asked Li Dongchuan under what condition her mother could be released for medical treatment. He refused to answer. Ms. Lu Yanling's health did not improve. During this period, she was still held in handcuffs and fetters. Mr. Bai frequently requested her release for medical treatment. Li Dongchuan refused. He said, "Medical treatment? We have sent her to Changchun City for medical treatment. We will pay 10,000 yuan for her, and you must pay it back later." Mr. Bai responded, "I am not familiar with the specifics of the law, but I know that my wife had a relapse and developed new diseases due to mistreatment during her detention, and you are responsible for that."

Mr. Bai asked Li Dongchuan, "You said my wife does not have any disease. Why was she sent to Changchun City for medical treatment, then? She is actually critically ill, so why can she not be released for medical treatment?" Li Dongchun still refused to reply. At present, Ms. Lu Yanling is being detained in Changchun City Hospital and is being subjected to further abuse by the Shulan City Procuratorate.
