(Clearwisdom.net) It's been nine years since the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started the persecution of Falun Gong in China. On the morning on July 20, 2008, practitioners in Malaysia gathered at the historic Royal City of Klang. They held a march and candlelight vigil to protest the nine-year long persecution in China and commemorate the practitioners who have died as a result of the persecution. They called on people of the world to help stop the brutal persecution.

At 7:00 a.m., Falun Gong practitioners came to Klang City to join the march. Before the march started, they gathered in front of the Klang City Council Building to demonstrate the exercises and held a press conference at 8:00 a.m. Falun Gong spokesperson Wu Wenqiang said, "Falun Gong practitioners and CIPFG volunteers from over 40 countries around the world are clarifying the truth of the persecution in China to people of all races and regions. They are asking the people of the world to sign a petition opposing the CCP's persecution. They hope to gather over a million signatures and form a loud voice for Falun Gong. This may be the largest anti-persecution activity on the globe in recent years. It will end in July and so far they have collected 1.08 million signatures from 127 countries."

Wu also said that most signatures were collected in Asia. "According to the CIPFG, Asia has the highest population of Falun Gong practitioners and they know more about the persecution in China than westerners. Seven thousand, two hundred and forty two people from Malaysia signed the petition."

March Stretched from South to North Klang

After the press conference, the practitioners left the Klang City Council Building at 8:30 a.m. and proceeded across the first double-decker bridge in Malaysia, Jambatan Kota. They marched from southern to northern Klang.

The march proceeded for an hour on a busy street in south Klang, and it attracted much attention from the residents. Practitioners distributed Falun Gong truth clarifying materials along the way. Later, the practitioners spent 20 minutes in front of the largest bus station in Klang. Many people asked for the truth-clarifying materials, and wanted to learn more about Falun Gong.

The practitioners proceeded across another bridge, Jambatan Tengku Musaeddin, and headed to southern Klang again. At 10:20 a.m., the march ended in front of the Klang Palace, Istana Alam Shah.

Police Approved the March After Learning the Truth of the Persecution

Coordinator of the parade Ms. Xie said, "After the local police understood the truth of the brutal persecution, especially the CCP's organ removal from living practitioners, they were shocked and sympathetic. They approved the march."

Candlelight Vigil in Front of the Chinese Consulate

At 7:00 p.m., practitioners gathered in front of the Chinese Consulate in Kuala Lumpur to commemorate those who have died as a result of the persecution in China and called for an end to the persecution.

Spokespersons Mr. Wu and Mr. Zhang read a press release from the Malaysia Falun Dafa Association in Malaysian and in Chinese respectively. The title of the press release was "Awaken the conscience and stop the persecution." Wu also announced that over a million people from 127 countries have signed a petition asking the CCP to stop the persecution of Falun Gong. Many patrolling officers thus understood the reason for the vigil.
