(Clearwisdom.net) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 35 cities or counties in 14 provinces. In this report, 38 practitioners were subjected to abuse during their detention, and at least 91 practitioners were illegally arrested.

On the evening of July 7, 2008, the Shenze County Police Department and various township governments and police department launched a campaign to round up practitioners in Shenze County. Their pretense for doing this was to step up security for the upcoming Olympic Games in Beijing. Ms. Zhang Rongfen, Ms. He Qing, Mr. Zhang Jianyong, Ms. Zhang Liuying, and a fifth practitioner have been taken into custody and are being held at the Shenze County Detention Center.

On the morning of July 3, 2008, Ms. Zou Guohua, Mr. Meng Qinghai, and his mother, Ms. Zhao, were taken into custody at their homes by the Chengde County Domestic Security Division. The three practitioners are currently being held at the county detention center.

On June 24, 2008, the Jiangdu City Court illegally sentenced Mr. Wei Bensheng to three-and-a-half years in prison. After Mr. Wei appealed the sentence, the Yangzhou City Intermediate Court upheld the original sentence. Mr. Wei is currently being detained at the Jiangdu City Detention Center.

On July 4, 2008, Ms. Chen Yunxia and her husband Mr. Han were taken into custody by officers from the Longgang Police Department. They are both being held at the No. 1 Detention Center.

Prior to May 27, 2008, the following practitioners were held at the Dianzi Brainwashing Center in Laizhou City: Ms. Du Zhenshuang, Ms. Chen Shanglian, Mr. Xu Guanghua, and Ms. Li Qiaoying. Ms. Li was held in solitary confinement, with both wrists handcuffed to the back of her chair. In addition, the guards would not permit her to go to bed at night. There were other practitioners held in the detention centers throughout Laizhou City.

Ms. Wang Shuchun, in her 60s, was taken into custody on the morning of July 7, 2008. The police searched her home and confiscated her computer, laser printer, an ink-jet printer, and cash.

In the last week of June, when her one-year forced labor term was up, Ms. Li Hui'e, a practitioner in Xichaizhuang Hamlet, was taken directly from Wangcun Forced Labor Camp to a brainwashing session in the Weifang School of Industrial Officials. This was ordered by the Hou Town Party Committee and the local police department.

Ms. Gao Jianling and Ms. Lu Shuying have been sentenced to one-and-a-half years of forced labor. Both practitioners are being held in Panqiao Women's Forced Labor Camp. Ms. Wang Jingxiang was also taken there on July 3, 2008.

On the morning of July 8, 2008, police officers searched the home of Mr. Zhang Shuzi, 74, his wife Ms. Jing Sufang, 73, and their daughter Ms. Zhang Ruixiang, 51, and arrested all three of them.

On the morning of May 20, 2008, Mr. Wang Haisong and Ms. Sun Yuehong had their homes searched, and they were later taken into police custody. Two other practitioners in Xuchagn City, Hongye and Changqing have also been taken into custody. The four practitioners are being held at the Xuchang City Detention Center.

On June 28, 2008, Ms. Wang Yanru and her husband were taken into custody in front of the Kunlun Home Appliance Store in Daqing City. Ms. Wang is being held at the Daqing City No. 1 Detention Center.

At around 11:00 a.m. on July 8, 2008, Mr. Liu Rongfa, a pilot at the Shijiazhuang Airplane Manufacturing Factory, was tricked into opening his door to six waiting plainclothes officers. Once inside, they confiscated Dafa books, memory sticks, an MP3 player, and some cash with truth clarification information written on them. Mr. Liu's wife, Ms. Yin Yanxin, a practitioner who is retired from the Shijiazhuang Airplane Manufacturing Factory, has gone missing.

Mr. Zhou Guoping is a practitioner in Yuexing Town, Dongpo District, Meishan City, Sichuan Province. In 2005, he was taken to Xinhua Forced Labor Camp in Mianyang City. His term was supposed to end on May 8, 2008, but the labor camp authorities extended it by two additional months. On July 8, 2008 , camp officials again extended Mr. Zhou's sentence by an additional 12 days without cause.

On the afternoon of June 16, 2008, officers from the Qingzhou City Police Department in the Weifang area went to the home of Ms. Ma Ruiying, 50, a retired worker at the Aluminum Box Paper Factory in Qingzhou City. They took her to the Qingzhou City Detention Center, where she remains in custody.

At around 8:00 a.m. on July 6, 2008, Ms. Tang Yuhua, Ms. Wang Aiyu, and Ms. Zhang Jiaoyu in Chenxi County were turned in to the police for talking to people in public about Falun Gong. Officers from the 110 Emergency Response Unit took the three practitioners into custody. Ms. Zhang's family received a call that Ms. Zhang suffered a sudden heart attack and were told to take her home for medical treatment. The other two practitioners are still being held in the county detention center.

On June 30, 2008, Mr. Yang Jiaye was again taken into custody by officers of the Domestic Security Division of the Lingshan County Police Department. He was taken to a labor camp the following day to serve a two-year term.

22. [Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province] Ms. Xu Linxiang and Other Practitioners Taken into Custody

On the evening of July 7, 2007, Ms. Xu Linxiang and her non-practitioner daughter, who both reside in Xingzi County in the Jiujiang Area, went to Sujiadang Township in Xingzi County to distribute Falun Gong materials. A short while later, they were turned in to the authorities. Police officers arrested them and impounded their car. Two days later, at around 1:30 a.m., police arrested practitioners Ms. Shen Qingxiu and her younger sister, Ms. Shen Huoxiou.

Ms. Xu Linxiang, her daughter, and Ms. Shen Qingxiu are now being unlawfully held at the Xingzi County Detention Center. Ms. Shen is being held at the De'an Detention Center.

Mr. Wang Jiasheng and Ms. Wang Jinzhi were taken into custody on the second floor of the Suning Electronic Merchant Building.

The police confiscated the following items from their home: portraits of the founder of Falun Gong, several Dafa books, copies of truth clarification brochures, a deposit receipt for 200 yuan, a notebook computer, a printer, a television set, a DVD player, two cell phones, and a scooter. Ms. Wang's cell phone and a deposit receipt for 7,500 yuan were also taken away.

After taking both practitioners into custody, the officers staked out other practitioners from Mr. Wang and Ms. Tang's home. The officers helped themselves to food in the refrigerator and threw trash all over the floor.

Between May 28, 2008, and June 20, 2008, 18 practitioners were taken into custody by the Ke District Police Department in Tongliao City. A practitioner with the surname Yu is from Shuangliao City, and four other practitioners are from Chifeng City.

On the morning of May 30, 2008, police arrested Ms. Fan Xiaoli and Mr. Guo at Ms. Fan's home in Tongliao City. The police confiscated a computer, a large number of Dafa books, and truth clarification materials.

On the morning of June 5, 2008, police took Ms. Li Xiangyu and her daughter, Ms. Wang Yulan, into custody. The officers confiscated an MP3 player, an MP4 player, a cell phone, and 400 yuan in cash. Ms. Wang was released that same day, but Ms. Li remains in custody at the Hexi Detention Center.

Ms. Sun Xiumin is a farmer in her 30s from Da'an City. On the morning of June 19, 2008, police broke into her home and took her to Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp, where she was denied admission and released later that night. The next day, she was again taken into custody and held at a detention center. Shortly thereafter, she was secretly sent to Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp to serve a two-year term. Her family was not notified of this by the authorities.

Ms. Sun Xiuxiang, 45, lives in the Ershilipu area in Jinzhou District, Dalian City. On June 30, 2008., she was unlawfully taken to the Yuanyi Police Station.

Mr. Luo Jiuhe, in his 50s, is an employee of the Tongzhai Township Food Administration Agency in Tanghe County. At around 9:00 p.m. on July 7, 2008, officers from Tanghe County and Nanyang City went to his home in Nanyang City and took him into custody. He is currently being held in Tanghe Detention Center.

On July 8, 2008, Ms. Zhang Xiuzhen and another female practitioner with the last name Zhang were taken into custody when they were clarifying the truth in the Guanmen area on Longwangtang Street, Lushun City, which is under the jurisdiction of Dalian City.

On July 8, 2008, Ms. Zhang Yuzhi, who lives in the Taiyanggou area of Lushun City, was turned in to the police and arrested when she was clarifying the truth at a farmers' market. The police later searched her home and confiscated her Dafa books.

On July 8, 2008, Ms. Sun Xiuzhen, who lives in the Shanggou area of Lushun City, was also taken into police custody.

At around 11:00 a.m. on July 9, 2008, Ms. Liu Xiuying from Dengfeng Street was taken into custody by two plainclothes officers

At around 10:00 a.m. on July 8, 2008, Ms. Qiu Yufen, a practitioner in Jiamusi City, was taken into custody after officers from the Jiamusi Suburban Police Department tricked her into going to her work unit. Ms. Qiu has still not returned home.

At around 3:00 a.m. on July 5 or July 6 on 2008, a female practitioner in her 30s went to the Jixi Electric Generation Factory to post truth clarification materials. Security guards Zheng Zhongxing and Xu Gui from the Diangong Road Police Station took her into custody.

At around 7:30 a.m. on July 4, 2008, seven or eight police officers from the Babaishang Police Department, accompanied by a locksmith, pried open a door to Mr. Jin's home. Once inside, they searched it thoroughly. They arrested the couple and a short while later took them to the Daqing No. 2 Oil Extraction Factory.

On July 4, 2008, Mr. Lu Yunlai was taken into police custody. On July 6, 2008, Mr. Ran Zhongcai was taken into custody as he worked the night shift. The police confiscated his satellite antenna.

On the afternoon of July 3, 2008, five practitioners were studying the Fa at Ms. Gao's home in the No. 13 Section of Yihao Road in the Dingzigu area, when three police officers and residential committee officials suddenly broke in. Ms. Gao passed out and was later revived in the Hongqiao Hospital emergency room. The other four practitioners, Ms. Er, Ms. Wang Jiahua, Ms. Li Shuying, and Ms. Li, were taken to the Hongqiao District Detention Center.

On April 7, 2008, police arrested Ms. Zhao Fei and took her to a detention center. Her home was also searched the same day. To protest her detention, she went on a hunger strike for 19 days. When the detention center authorities saw that her life was in imminent danger, she was released on medical parole. At 10:00 a.m. on July 9, 2008, four or five people from the Preliminary Interrogation Section of the Wuqing District Court and the Shigezhuang Police Station took Ms. Zhao into custody at her mother's home, even though she had not fully recovered.

Between 6:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. on July 9, 2008, several police officers went to the family section of the Weifang Chemical Fiber Factory. Shortly after arriving, they broke into Ms. Ren Xianrong's home, confiscated her Dafa books and truth clarification materials, then took her and Ms. Shi Xiuqin, 62, into custody. Both practitioners were held at the Chengxi Police Station in Chengxi District. Ms. Ren is nearly 70 years old.

At around 6:00 a.m. on July 9, 2008, officers from the Dongguan Police Station in Kuiwen District, Weifang City, pried open the steel-reinforced, theft-proof door of Mr. Li Gang's home. They confiscated a notebook computer, Dafa books, and truth clarification materials. The police took Mr. Li Gang; his wife, Ms. Xu Qin; and another practitioner, Ms. Yang Wenying, who lives in the same residential area, into custody. The three practitioners are being held at the Dongguan Police Station.

At around 6:30 a.m. on July 9, 2008, nine police officers from the Kuiwen District Police Department, the Weicheng District Police Department, and the Weifang City 610 Office broke into Ms. Cao Junping's home. They confiscated around 300 Dafa books, over 130 DVDs, over 100 tapes, 40 to 50 banners, a printer, a notebook computer, two desktop computers, a digital camera, and a deposit book. The total value of all the items confiscated was around 50,000 yuan.

At around the same time, on July 9, 2008, several officers broke into Ms. Cao Junfeng's home and took personal items worth about 50,000 yuan. Ms. Cao's husband had to be hospitalized for heart problems after the event. Ms. Cao Junfeng and Ms. Cao Junping's homes remain under constant police surveillance.

At 6:30 a.m. on July 9, 2008, officers from the Chaoyang Police Station searched the home of Ms. Song Xiu, a former employee of the Steel Cast Factory. The police confiscated Dafa books, a television set, a DVD player, a satellite dish, and 2,400 yuan in cash. Ms. Song, around 45 years old, was taken into custody.

In the early morning on July 9, 2008, the Gaomi City police arrested several practitioners, including Mr. Wang Zhibang, Ms. Li Hua, Ms. Guan Cuiling, Ms. Wang Haixia in Yaogezhuang Town, Ms. Sha in Xiguan Town, and Ms. Li Xiuzhi. Ms. Wang's sister-in-law, Ms. Du Hongmei, was taken to a forced labor camp just a few days earlier.

Ms. Song Canying from Fucheng County was taken into custody by officers with the Qiaoxi District Police Department and the Hongqi Road Police Station. At the time, she was clarifying the truth in the Xiaojun Residential Community on Hongqi Rorad, Shijiazhuang City. Ms. Song is being held at the Shijiazhuang No. 1 Detention Center.

On the evening of July 8, 2008, a group of police officers broke into Ms. Zhao Yabin's home and confiscated a computer, a printer, a DVD burner, a satellite dish, truth clarification materials, Dafa books, and other items. Ms. Zhao was forcibly taken into custody.

On July 3, 2008, Mr. Fan Ruxi, who lives in Fanbali Village, Caoyuan Township, Linxi County, was taken into custody by officers from the County Police Department and the 610 Office of the township police station. While searching his home, police confiscated Dafa books, truth clarification materials, and DVDs. Mr. Fan's whereabouts are still unknown.

In addition, Ms. Li Xiuling, who lives in the Panzhuang area of Linqing City, was taken into custody around July 1, 2008.

At around 7:00 a.m. on July 8, 2008, 12 officers from the Donglicun Police Station in Shijiazhuang City broke into Ms. Hu Yanxia's home. They took away a notebook computer and a large number of other items. The officers took Ms. Hu to the police station and interrogated her throughout the night, but she would not tell them anything. On the morning of July 9, 2008, Ms. Hu was taken to the Shijiazhuang No. 1 Detention Center.

Mr. Hao Qingtang, 55, and his wife, Ms. Zhang Junzhuo, 54, live in Susheng Village, Jinzhou City in the Shijiazhuang area. At around noon on July 7, 2008, officers from the Political Security Section of the Jinzhou City Police Department and the Donglizhuang City Police Department went to their home and confiscated Dafa books, a portrait of the founder of Falun Gong, truth clarification materials, a satellite dish, and an antenna. Ms. Zhang was taken to the Donglizhuang Police Station and later released after police extorted 3,000 yuan from her.

At noon on July 5, 2008, officers from the South Renqiu Department in North China Petroleum Field arrested Ms. Ma Jinling at her work place. They also arrested her husband, Mr. Guo Quansheng, while he was at home. They confiscated a computer, printer, the family's phone and address book, and more than one thousand yuan in cash. Their teenage child was left alone at home. The couple is being detained in the North China Oil Field Detention Center.

At around noon on July 2, 2008, the Beixidong Village CCP secretary arranged to have more than ten officers from the Political Security Office of the County Government and Gucheng Town Police Station drive to Mr. Zhang Zhiguo's home. When they arrived, they took away computers, Master Li's photo, and Dafa books. They also arrested Mr. Zhang's wife, Ms. Wang Sheqiao. Mr. Zhang had to leave home to avoid being arrested, and his wife's whereabouts are still unknown. Police have refused to allow her family to visit her.

On June 20, 2008, several officers from the Hui County Seat Police Station stormed into 65-year-old Ms. Liang Rongqing's home and tried to arrest her. After dealing with these officers for five hours, Ms. Liang manged to escape. Her husband, Mr. Yang Xifu, also a Dafa practitioner, was arrested a month ago. He is still being detained.

At 10 p.m., on July 7, 2008, four officers from Cailing Town Police Station and six town government employees stormed into Mr. Wang Shunlong's home and ransacked it.

At around 4 p.m. on July 8, 2008, several officers from Gaoling County Police Department arrested Ms. Deng Fenming at her workplace, the Changqing Petroleum-Gas Apparatus Manufacture Company. They later ransacked her home. They took away two computers, one printer, Master's photo, discs, and 10,000 yuan in cash.

In June, officers from Suohe Street Police Station illegally entered Ms. Li Hongcai's home located in Wozhang Village, Liuhe Town. They arrested her when they found NTDTV materials.

On December 15, 2004, 64-year-old Ms. Wang Huiying was arrested for playing songs composed by Dafa practitioners in the Huayuan Street community garden. She was sentenced to three-and-a-half years i Yangma Women's Prison in Jianyang City. Her prison term officially ended on June 15, 2008, but Jianyang City 610 Office agents had her admitted to Er'ehu Brainwashing Center in Ziyang City, Sichuan Province.

On July 7, 2008, Ms. Sun Xiuzhen and her sister, Ms. Sun Xiuyun, were arrested when they were clarifying the truth in the Longwangtang Community in Lushun City. Later that night, officers from the Longwangtang Police Station took them both to the Jinsanjiao Drug Rehabilitation Center. Four officers went to Ms. Sun Xiuzhen's home, tricked her daughter into opening the door, and then took away truth clarifying discs and other materials.

On the afternoon of July 9, 2008, Ms. Liu Xiuying was talking to some people on the sidewalk when three officers got out of a police vehicle and arrested her. Her whereabouts are still unknown.

On June 18, 2008, under the orders of City Police Department Director Ren Jianbo, police arrested Ms. Lan Feng, Ms. Zhao Lijuan, Ms. Ma Dongyan, and Ms. Zheng Chunling.

In the third week of June 2008, Mr. Zhang Jinfeng was scheduled to stand trial. On June 30, 2008, Ms. Zhao Lijuan and Mr. Yu Donghui were also scheduled to be tried. On July 1, 2008, Mr. Xu Hongwei and Mr. Zhang Lizhi were likewise ordered to stand trial.

Seven practitioners, including Ms. Wang Shufen, Ms. Yang Shuyan, Ms. Zhang Guifen, Ms. Li Min, Ms. Sun Fuyun, and Ms. Yan Yulan were sent to forced labor camps. Ms. Li Xingyu and Ms. Zhang Yuping were released on probation. Mr. Wang Hongzhen has been sentenced to five years in prison, and he is currently in a detention center.
