(Clearwisdom.net) On April 29, 2008 during a prison search at the Hulan prison in Heilongjiang, guards found a cell phone, a one hundred dollar bill, an MP4 player and several hand-written Dafa books in practitioner Li Ge's cell. Chen Weiqiang, section chief of the forced labor camp reported the findings to the head of the Hulan prison. Ni Guodong, head guard in charge of Mr. Li Ge, was criticized for negligence. Ni brought Mr. Li to his office, verbally abused him, then beat him with a leather belt and an electric baton. Mr. Li's face, ears, eyes and body were severely injured. Observing the incident were guards Qiao Fulin, Li Kui, and Wang Dawei,.

From April 29 to June 10, Mr. Li was illegally imprisoned. During this confinement, his hands and feet were chained to the ground. He needed assistance to use the toilet and had to bend his legs when lying down.

On May 8, Lo, a detective from the prison, questioned Mr. Li about the source of his cell phone and forwarded his findings to the head guard. On June 10, Ni Guodong and Zhang Jia further interrogated Mr. Li, but he refused to comply. Mr. Li's family made several requests for his release from confinement without success.

The size of the confinement cell is only nine square meters, with no windows. Five to six people are kept in one cell. There is a toilet in the cell that can be used only at 6 a.m. and 4 p.m. The prisoners have to drink water from inside the toilet tank. Each prisoner's hands and legs are chained to iron rings on the ground. At any given time, there are two prison guards on duty.

Generally, a prisoner is placed into confinement for a duration of fifteen days to one month. There is no light in the cell, little food, and no concern about hygiene. The cell is typically quite cold, and prisoners are allowed only one set of used clothing. Mr. Li was confined for one and a half months, and when finally released, he had lost over eleven pounds. He was in extremely weak condition, experiencing dizziness, and his face was pale.
