Call for Rescue of Senior Ms. Cai Changzhen, Tortured to Blindness

(Clearwisdom.net) The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has used the pretense of maintaining security during the Olympics in order to escalate the persecution of Falun Gong. As part of this campaign, six police officers in two vehicles arrived in front of a dormitory on Second Road, at the Zongguan Water Factory in Qiaokou District on July 19, 2008. There, they arrested Ms. Cai Changzhen who is almost 70, and blind in both eyes, as well as another senior citizen who was living at her home. The two Falun Gong practitioners were taken to the Etouwan Brainwashing Center. Ms. Cai had previously been detained in 2001, when she was tortured so severely by Jin Zhiping (male), a CCP officer from the Qiaokou Police Department, that she became blind in both eyes.

In August 2000, Ms. Cai Changzhen had been arrested and taken to the Etouwan Brainwashing Center by police officers from the First Division, Qiaokou Department. Her home was ransacked. Ms. Cai, who was in her sixties at the time, was detained on the second floor of the center. Her arms were twisted behind her back and she was hung from a two-level metal bed. Only the tips of her toes still touched the floor, and her entire weight was suspended by her arms that were handcuffed behind her back, causing her intolerable pain. After an hour, tears were flowing from her eyes. She was left in that position from 8:00 a.m. to noon. Ms. Cai has suffered from blood-shot eyes afterward, and she was unable to open her swollen eyelids for a long time.

When she was finally released, Jin Zhiping, director of the First Division, shoved Ms. Cai into an area close to the air conditioner until she was boxed in by the air conditioner, a fan behind her, and a ceiling fan above. She was deprived of sleep for more than 20 days, and was only allowed brief periods of rest. Xiao Ganzhi (male), from the First Division, Qiaokou Department was also involved in torturing Ms. Cai at that time and participated in suspending her with her arms twisted behind her back. She lost consciousness from the torture. In addition, she was often hit in the face. Xiao Ganzhi also participated in this form of torture. As a result, she suffered from severe headaches. Even after her release, Ms. Cai was affected by headaches. She gradually lost her eyesight until she became completely blind.

One day in January 2001, while still at the brainwashing center, Ms. Cai suddenly had a severe headache and pain in her right eye. She became completely blind in her right eye a few days later. Ms. Cai and other Falun Gong practitioners were later transferred to a "reform" school where they were also tortured. During this time, she was tricked into having a physical at the Tongji Hospital in Wuhan City. After her release, she continued having headaches.

On September 23, 2002, Ms. Cai's left eye also became blind. She has not been able to take care of herself since, and she is now completely disabled. She was injured physically and spiritually, and subjected to intense pressure. Her son and daughter-in-law work hard every day and they have a child. They have little time to care for their elderly, blind mother. The persecution of Falun Gong has brought suffering to the whole family.

On September 31, 2002, Qiaokou District police officers arrived at Ms. Cai Changzhen's home to arrest her again. Ms. Cai and another practitioner who was also at her home didn't open the the door when they heard the police knocking. Other people in the building who had been playing Mahjong, interrupted their game and gathered around the door. They realized that innocent people were about to be arrested. This discouraged the police and they left. To avoid being arrested again, Ms. Cai had to leave her home that night. She left town for over a month.

At approximately 2:00 p.m. on January 7, 2003, police officers again came to her home. Without any explanation, they arrested Ms. Cai and took her to the Etouwan Brainwashing Center. She was not released until the following week.

We hope that international human rights organizations will watch Ms. Cai Changzhen's case. Moreover, righteous people around the world are encouraged to do whatever they can to stop the persecution of Falun Gong in China, to stop the torture, and to return human rights to Falun Gong practitioners.
