The Chinese Communist Party Continues to Hide Its Crimes During the Olympics

(Clearwisdom.net) The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) spared no resources to make the Beijing Olympics a make-over for itself. At the same time, attention from the international media and governments worries the CCP, as it fears that the crimes it has committed will be exposed, especially its brutal persecution of Falun Gong practitioners and its human rights violations.

The CCP failed to fulfill many of the pledges it made when it applied to host the Olympics. Furthermore, it has used the Olympics to exacerbate its violation of human rights. Using the Olympics as an excuse, the CCP has arrested a large number of Falun Gong practitioners, religious believers, petitioners, and ethnic minorities (Tibetans and Uyghurs). Although the CCP was forced to unblock a few foreign-based websites under international pressure, many websites run by overseas Chinese remain blocked, particularly Falun Gong-related websites. This is another manifestation of the CCP's fear of the truth about the persecution being exposed and its hostility towards Chinese citizens.

The free flow of information protects people's right to know. In times of disaster, such as the earthquake in Sichuan in May 2008, information could affect people's survival. There are more web users in China than any other country in the world, yet China is also home to the world's tightest web censorship. According to reports, the Chinese government spent hundreds of billions of yuan on Internet censorship in 2007. In 2008, the expense will be even higher. The Chinese government's goal, of course, is to control the thoughts and public opinion of the Chinese people. Unlike most web users in the world, Chinese web users cannot freely express their thoughts or browse websites from all over the world. Just as peasants are "second-class citizens" in China, Chinese web users are also "second-class web users" in the world.

The international media have reported extensively on the fraudulent aspects of the Beijing Games, including the lip-synching during the opening ceremony, digitally-enhanced images of fireworks, and underage gymnasts. Chinese web users have also expressed disappointment or anger about the lip-synching during the opening ceremony. This has led to anxiety on the part of the CCP. As a result, it ordered that Internet police intensify its control of the web in China, strictly forbid all criticism about the Games, delete any dissenting voice, and continue to spread its propaganda to fool the Chinese people.

The CCP is afraid of not only the Chinese people's right to know, but also of the world learning about the real situation in China. It has strictly prohibited Chinese people from accepting interviews by foreign media.

The CCP's "Olympic make-over" has been marred by fraudulence, human rights violations, and suppression of freedom. Its cover is being torn piece by piece. Its monstrous nature is being exposed to the international community more and more.

The CCP's dictatorship and control of the people rely on two things: guns and pens. In Internet censorship, the two also apply. The CCP recently increased the number of web-based commentators to "lead" the public. These commentators are nicknamed "fifty cents" because they are paid fifty cents for each on-line post they make in support of the government. These commentators portray a peaceful illusion for the CCP and use the CCP's warped theories to confuse people's minds. They use "national interest" to justify the CCP's behavior. This so-called "national interest" is actually just "the CCP's interest." The CCP has had a long history of confusing the concepts of the CCP and China as a nation. It has always said, "The CCP's interest is paramount."

Being fraudulent itself is wrong. Glorifying it is even more despicable.

The CCP has not changed its nature and has continued to hide the truth to deceive the international community.

During the Olympic Games, more than 20,000 foreign reporters are in Beijing. On August 3, the Falun Dafa Information Center published an article, "Behind the Olympic Spectacle: A Journalist's Walking Guide to the Persecution of Falun Gong in Beijing." The publication of the article made the CCP extremely nervous, fearing that the truth of the persecution against Falun Gong would be exposed by international reporters. To hide the facts, the CCP moved steadfast Falun Gong practitioners currently illegally detained in Beijing to other cities, including labor camps in Shanxi Province, Inner Mongolia, and Liaoning Province. Those who remain in labor camps and prisons in Beijing are those who have been brainwashed, forced to give up their faith, or those who sing the same tune as the CCP. If foreign reporters visit the labor camps and prisons in Beijing now, they will no doubt be deceived.
