Account of Persecution in the Liaoning Province Women's Prison

(Clearwisdom.net) In 2001, I was sentenced to four years in prison for practicing Falun Gong. I was detained in the Liaoning Province Women's Prison, formerly known as the Dabei Prison in Shenyang City. I would like to tell everyone what I witnessed in those four years.

Ms. Zhang Shuqing was an elementary school teacher. She was detained in the Second Group of the Fourth Division, which was the Ningda Clothing Company. She was frequently beaten or cursed at. Her face always had bruises on it. She was also subjected to sleep deprivation at night. Two prisoners guarded her in the washroom and forced her to stay in different positions for long periods of time. During the day, she was not allowed to sit down to work. The guards were always picking on her. Even under such hardship, she never gave up Dafa. The prisoners that tortured her also respected her.

Ms. Li Ling was a practitioner from Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province. She was arrested twice for clarifying the truth to the Jinzhou City Political and Legal Committee Party Secretary. She was sentenced to four years in prison and detained in the Third Group of the Third Division. One day after work, she cried out, "Falun Dafa is good!" They confined her to an isolated cell, and the prison guards ordered prisoner Zhang Chun'e, a robber, to guard her. Zhang was in her 20's, and she was very cruel. She often tied Ms. Li to the bed, taped her mouth shut, slapped her face with a shoe or sat on her stomach. Ms. Li eventually died due to the torture.

Ms. Zhang Wei was detained in the Sixth Group of the Third Division. In order to force her to give up her belief in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, the prison guards ordered prisoner Yang Jing to guard her. Ms. Zhang was not allowed to sleep at night or sit down when she worked during the day. In the very cold days of winter, she was forced to stand in the middle of the road without any winter clothes. They even poured cold water down her collar. One day, Ms. Zhang collapsed during the torture. The guards dragged her around and said that she was pretending. After her medical examination, the doctors said that she needed to be on medical parole. She was never seen again.

Ms. Li Dongqing shouted, "Falun Dafa is good" when she came to the prison. When she was off work, her mouth was always taped shut while some prisoners and guards beat and cursed her or dragged her around. When visitors would come to the prison, they always kept her out of sight.

Ms. Zhang Fengzhen was in her 50's. When I first saw her, she had to be supported by others while walking. At night, she needed help to slowly lay down on her bed, and she had no strength to even turn over. Once, the prison guards instigated prisoner Yang Jing, Zhang Yingying and Shan Xia to beat her for six hours straight. Ms. Zhang still refused to renounce Falun Gong.
