Liu Ruping and His Wife from Jinan City Arrested Again
(Clearwisdom.net) Mr. Liu Ruping, a Falun Gong practitioner from the
Changqing District in Jinan City, was a lawyer from the Shuntian Law Firm in
Shandong Province. Less than a month ago he and his wife, Zhang Chenglan, were
illegally arrested. Around 3 p.m. on August 12, 2008, just as Ms. Zhang was leaving home,
officials from the 610 Office and the police station in Changqing
arrested her. They took her house key and entered her home without the
permission of her husband (Liu Ruping) and son, who were home at the time. The
police ransacked the home and took away their computer, printer, and Falun Gong
informational materials. Officials present included Meng Qian from the 610
Office and Guo Jun from Xincheng police station. So that Mr. Liu wouldn't shout, the officers sprayed pepper water on his
face, keeping him from talking or opening his eyes. The police took a 70-thousand yuan deposit certificate and an ATM
card over the objections of Mr. Liu and his son. Liu Ruping was taken to a Jinan brainwashing center in the Liuchangshan
District. Ms. Zhang was put in the Jinan detention center. The couple had been reported to the police. After monitoring and following
them for several days, taking their pictures and taping their telephone calls,
the officials arrested them. On December 14, 2005, Liu Ruping was illegally sentenced to one year and
three months in Wangcun Forced Labor Camp. Mr. Liu remained determined in his
belief and refused to be "transformed." He was therefore tortured both
physically and mentally. In addition, his term was extended by two months and 22
days. Please refer to the article at http://www.clearwisdom.net/emh/articles/2007/6/11/86652.html. Details about the persecution of Liu Ruping have been posted on the
Clearwisdom website several times. Since the beginning of this year, officials from the 610 Office and the
Changqing police station have broken into practitioners' homes many times,
ransacking the homes and arresting the practitioners.
