(Clearwisdom.net) Divine Performing Arts presented their Chinese New Year Spectacular in Boston, Massachusetts on January 10. The show celebrated traditional Chinese culture--including traditional Chinese dance, stories, themes such as beauty and spirituality, and influences from various dynasties and regions in China. Audience members expressed joy, interest, and appreciation in their comments about the show.

Massachusetts State Representative Jason Lewis came with his daughters, Sophie and Jessie. He represents the towns of Stoneham and Winchester. When asked about his impression of the show, he replied, "It's absolutely wonderful! Very beautiful music and beautiful dancing. I have two daughters, both of whom are dancers, and they are just enraptured by the show."

Then his daughters gave their impressions. Jessie (aged six) chimed in, "Can I say something? I really like the show because I do ballet and gymnastics, and my sister does gymnastics and modern dance."

Then Sophie (aged nine) joined in, "I like doing modern dance and I just started doing jazz, and I'm thinking when I get older to be a better dancer." Her father asked what she (Sophie) thought of this form of classical Chinese dance, and she replied, "I like it a lot, watching it, all the colors there are."

Jessie added, "I said 'we're not leaving. We're staying.'" Representative Lewis explained with laughter how he told his daughters that it was getting close to their bedtime, and they replied that they didn't want to leave.

Rep. Lewis said, of the cultural aspect of the show, "It's wonderful for us to experience all different cultures. I think we don't see as much of traditional Chinese culture nowadays because we [only] see modern China. So I think this is a great opportunity for us to appreciate Chinese culture, which goes back so many thousands of years."

Representative Lewis said of the songs, "Oh I think the music is beautiful, and very poetic. And, I think, [the songs] teach us some basic truths about life. So I think it's very beautiful."

When the representative was asked how this show is different from others he had seen, he replied, "Having the opportunity to see traditional Chinese music and dance. That's what I think is really unique and different about Divine Performing Arts and this particular performance." When asked if there was a performance in the show he liked most, he replied, "Oh, I personally loved the drummers." They all agreed they "liked the the dancers from Yi in the southwest of China." Jessie finished by saying they had gone to a Chinese restaurant for dinner.
