(Clearwisdom.net) In June 2008, Ms. Xu Yanli was sentenced to a forced labor camp in Beijing. The management of Beijing Women's Forced Labor Camp extended her term to three years because she refused to give up her faith. Her husband, Mr. Wei Shijun, also a practitioner, was sentenced to 11 years in prison, and tortured so badly that he suffered kidney failure in the prison hospital. He is now in critical condition.

Mr. Wei Shijun and their child

Ms. Xu Yanli, 37, was an English teacher employed by Beijing Geology University. Her family lives in the Shijingshan District. She was fired for firmly holding to her faith in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. She has been arrested at least seven times and tortured to the point of being in critical condition each time.

Around April 20, 2008, police arrested Ms. Xu on her way to work and took her to the Shijingshan District Detention Center. She was then transferred to Daxing District Forced Labor Distribution Center and eventually to the Beijing Women's Forced Labor Camp.

Since being arrested, she has endured inhuman torture. There are wounds all over her body only because she refuses to give up her faith. The guards have often punched, kicked, and slapped her; locked her in a small cell (1); forced her to sit on a small stool for a long time; and not allowed her to use the toilet.

Ms. Xu's husband, Mr. Wei Shijun, was a photographer employed by the High Energy Physics Institute of China Science Academy. He began cultivating Falun Dafa in 1992. He was arrested in 2000 and sentenced to eleven and a half years in prison. He is now detained in Qianjin Prison located in Chadian Town, Tianjin City. We have learned recently that he is in the early stages of kidney failure and is very weak, but the prison administration has refused to release him. He was taken to a prison hospital, where four to five inmates monitored him closely.

The police did not tell Ms. Xu's family that she had been arrested in April 2008, and did not tell where she was detained. Her father-in-law looked all over town, but all the officers from police stations, domestic security agents, and police departments told him that they were not holding her. Her mother lives in the United States, and when she heard of her arrest she had a heart attack and had to be rushed to the hospital.

Ms. Xu Li has a daughter in fourth grade and a son in first grade. Officers planned to take her two children to an orphanage. Two domestic security agents went to threaten her parents-in-law and tried to force them to sign paperwork to allow the police to take her children to an orphanage. The older couple absolutely refused.
