(Clearwisdom.net) Enthusiastic applause from an appreciative audience filled the Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium at the Shen Yun Performing Arts show on Monday night. Among the crowd were marketing manager and part-time novelist Mr. Jost and his wife.

Mr. Jost said, "Just a phenomenal package--it's awe inspiring. The western culture doesn't have the historical depth that the Chinese culture has, so I think that separates a show like this from many of the other shows I see. The show was visually very beautiful. From an artistic perspective, [it was] just very well put together and outstanding, just top notch."

"When the curtain raised, I looked at my wife and she had a tear in her eye. My wife is a chef and she specializes in Asian cuisine, but she's never been to Asia so I think this is very phenomenal for her. I know it goes deeper than artistic, but from an artistic perspective it is just brilliant," remarked Mr. Jost.

Also among the audience were renovation company owner Mr. Croteau and his wife. Mr. Croteau said, "I think it is a wonderful opening to a new culture. People still have a way of looking for a better life, no matter what it is. This is what I found they were presenting in the songs about hope and happiness."

Mrs. Croteau expressed her enthusiasm for the show, especially the operatic style of award-winning tenor Tian Ge, and her overall impression about the show. "I thought, that's the Asian version of Pavarotti. It was really good, I enjoy his music. It's wonderful. I love the color. It's so fresh and elegant, the flexibility and the art of the body language."

Vice-president of global company impressed by Shen Yun performance

Mr. Parker is vice-president and general manager of a global engineering company and is very interested in Chinese culture. After seeing Shen Yun in Calgary, he was impressed. "It's a very beautiful, very interesting, nice performance. I've never seen a show like this before. I think this show demonstrated Chinese culture. It really brought that to us in North America. It's very good."

Mr. Parker particularly noticed the storytelling aspect that runs through Shen Yun's performances. "The story about the family that was torn apart and how they would meet in Heaven--that was the most touching part," said Mr. Parker, referring to a piece about the persecution of Falun Gong in modern-day China.

Bank Executive finds the performers incredible

Mr. Christie, a regional vice-president for one of Canada's largest banks, took in the show and left impressed. "It's fabulous. It's great to learn about the Chinese culture through dance and that sort of thing, so I'm really enjoying it."

He said, "The performers are incredible. They're talented and they're very flexible. The musicians are phenomenal, especially that violinist with the two-stringed violin. I've never seen that instrument before. "

The bank executive had other favorites including the drumming pieces. "I love the drummers...The first drummers were very entertaining with the women and the way that they shared the drums."

In "Welcoming Spring" female dancers embody the season with quick footwork, crisp movements, and stunning bursts of color. "I loved that piece. The whole thing was phenomenal. The flower dancing ... was very entertaining."

He said he also appreciated the animated backdrops, "I love the actual setting, the way they bring the characters down, the animated characters, and then the real life characters come out. It's phenomenal...The whole thing was phenomenal."
