(Clearwisdom.net) Members of a [spiritual] movement banned in China have staged a march and rally in central Auckland.

More than 50 [practitioners] of Falun Gong gathered in Aotea Square, to march down Queen Street.

They have been observing the third anniversary of Falun Gong being banned in China.

[Practitioners] from as far as Wellington took part, dressed mainly in white with yellow jackets and posters.

Spokeswoman Shelley Shao says they are appealing to New Zealanders to help end their persecution in China.

She says 438 people have been tortured or beaten to death and 100 thousand have been detained.
