Facts of the Persecution

1) On August 19, 2004, special agents of the National Security Bureau tracked Wang Guanglin on the way to his hometown in Fengdu County. After discovering Wang Guanglin's home, the special agents and policemen forcibly broke in. They cruelly beat the two Dafa practitioners there, Zhang Peijin and Wang Guanglin. Zhang Peijin sustained injuries to his neck and lower back, and Wang Guanglin was knocked unconscious. After Wang Guanglin regained consciousness, he was abducted by agents of the National Security Bureau and taken to their headquarters. Zhang Peijin was taken to Shangqing Police Station. That night, Zhang was interrogated and tortured. Zhang Peijin was again injured, and his forehead and head were cut repeatedly. On the second day, Zhang Peijin and Wang Guanglin were taken to Beibei Detention Center. In protest of their illegal incarceration, the two practitioners staged a hunger strike and were cruelly force-fed every day. After more than ten days, the practitioners were taken to the Ninth People's Hospital in Beibei, Chongqing. Each of them was tied to a hospital bed and secured with handcuffs and fetters. On the evening of September 19, after being on a hunger strike for a month, Wang Guanglin inexplicably disappeared from the hospital and is still missing.

2) Tianjin City Dafa practitioner Li Liang was abducted in secret, and his property was confiscated. Li Liang's parents do not know where he is being held and there have been no explanations as to his whereabouts. Previously, Li Liang was arrested and incarcerated in Beijing in July of 1999 for one month. Near the end of October of that year, he was again arrested and sentenced to one year in a labor camp. When the term was up, instead of being released, his sentence was extended for another year. In April of 2004, Li Liang was again sentenced to 2 years of forced labor because he refused to renounce Falun Dafa or sign a repentance statement (1). Finally, on May 22, 2004, Li Liang was released. Li Liang's two sisters were also imprisoned simply because they practice Falun Gong. Li Hong, the elder sister, was sent to a forced labor camp twice and she is still being held in the Tianjin City Banqiao Forced Labor Camp. The younger sister, Li Ying, was released due to the efforts of her fiancé after being locked up in Shanghai Women's Forced Labor Camp for a two-year term. She now lives in Australia.

Note:

(1) The so-called "repentance statement" declares that the practitioner is remorseful for practicing Falun Gong and promises not to practice Falun Gong again, not to go to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong, and never again to associate with any Falun Dafa practitioners.
