Facts of the Persecution

1) On August 19, 2004, police abducted Falun Dafa practitioners Zhang Peijin and Wang Guanglin from North Bei in Chongqing City. That night, Zhang Peijin was interrogated and violently coerced to reveal information. She was left with several bloody wounds on her head. Wang Guanglin was knocked unconscious for more than an hour. On the next day, both of them were taken to the North Bei Jail, but they persisted hunger striking to resist the persecution. After more than ten days, they were transferred to the Ninth Civilian Branch Hospital of Chongqing City. In the hospital, their feet were cuffed to the hospital bed twenty-four hours a day. On September 19, after being on hunger strike for thirty-one days, Wang Guanglin managed to escape from the hospital, but did not return home in order to avoid further persecution. However, Zhang Peijin was force-fed through her nose and injected with large doses of unknown drugs pushing her to the verge of death. It was only during early October when she fell unconscious that she was finally sent back to her family. Even after being home for more than a week, Zhang Peijin had to force herself to sip some water everyday in order to sustain her life.

2) Shenzhen City practitioner Liu Xifeng walked to Beijing, and put up a twenty-meter long banner on the Great Wall of China. The police came and cruelly beat him until his face was swollen, covered with blood and disfigured. In 2000, his wife, Wang Xiaodong, was brutally persecuted in the Nanshan Area Jail. In just over ten days, her weight was reduced from 120 Jin (One Jin equals half a kilogram) to 70 Jin. However, she persisted in resisting the persecution by refusing to give in to the pressure and admit that she was a criminal. Once, she had an open wound on her head from torture. Five strong men pinned her down and put more than twenty sutures into her head without providing any anesthesia.

3) In 2001, practitioner Li Yunyun from Chaoyang City, Liaoning Province refused to give up her belief and was detained for fifteen days. Officers extorted 1,000 yuan from her. Her husband Yu Haibin (also a practitioner) was at home and also had to pay 1,000 yuan. In 2002, Bai Wenyou and several other police officers from Shuangta Police Sub-Bureau kidnapped Yu Haibin while at work and detained him for a month. He was released after having 2,500 yuan extorted from him.

4) On the afternoon of September 20, 2004, the North Street Police again abducted Li Yunyun and her husband. Yu Haibin was kidnapped while at work, while his wife Li Yunyun was kidnapped from their home. The police confiscated some VCDs, a computer, a printer and some other items from their home, ransacking the house and refusing to listen to the practitioners when they tried to clarify the truth to them. Li Yunyun and her husband are still being detained in the Shijiahe Jail.

5) On January 18, 2001, Bian Jiang, the Party Secretary of Nanpibaoguan Town, and Wang Jiazhi, the town director, hired thugs to beat up some practitioners at the town government yard. They coerced practitioners to slander Dafa and insult Master Li Hongzhi. Those who refused were beaten up and handcuffed to a utility pole. The practitioners had to stand in the snow for the entire night and were not released until the next evening on January 19. During that incident, practitioners were forced to pay a deposit of 2,000 yuan. Later on, only 1,700 yuan of the deposit was returned.

6) Practitioner Deng Shulan went to Beijing to appeal in early 2001. Thugs hired by the city government broke her arm and she was detained in Nanpi County Jail. Guo Xiurong, a model teacher from Zhangten School, was abducted twice within a few days by the Nanpixuan Security Unit during the 2003 SARS period. She was tortured to the verge of death before being released. To avoid further persecution, she has not returned home.

7) Since September 25, under Xuanwei Secretary Yang Wenyuan's orders, personnel in Xiong County, Hebei Province abducted at least fifteen Falun Dafa practitioners, ransacked their homes and illegally restricted their personal freedom. Moreover, the Xiong County "610 Office" set up a brainwashing center in Dayin Village. Three practitioners who were detained in this brainwashing class have been on a hunger strike for eight days.

8) In Nongan City, Jilin Province, practitioner Zhang Guizhen went to Beijing to appeal but was detained in Nongan County Jail. After being held for 22 days, she was transferred to Changchun Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp for "re-education" for two years. In the labor camp, she suffered from several forms of mental and physical persecution, causing a relapse of her heart disease and gastric problem thus making her life unbearably tough. These diseases had previously been healed by practicing Falun Gong. On December 31, 2000, Zhang Guizhen's family took her home. Debiao Police Station and Political Security Division "610 Office" officers put Zhang Guizhen under around the clock surveillance and intimidated her son. They also went to her brothers' and sisters' homes and harassed them. They even went to her son's school to check on his activities and harassed her mother on New Year's Eve.
