Tianxin District Court, Changsha City sentenced Falun Gong practitioners Ms. Tan Xiangyu and Mr. Deng Chaogang to 3.5 and 4 years in prison, respectively. We have since found out that the city's Intermediate Court rejected the practitioners' appeals and maintained the original sentences. On November 1, 2004, personnel from Changsha City Detention Center sent Tan Xiangyu to Hunan Province Women's Prison. Due to the over one year of detention though, 57-year-old Tan was mentally and physically devastated. The prison refused to accept her because of her poor health as discovered during the physical check-up prior to the admission. Ms. Tan was taken back to the detention center that same day.

The detention center agreed to release those whose health did not qualify them for detention and put them under house arrest, but when Tan's family asked for her release, the detention center did not keep its promise. The family called the Intermediate Court, but did not get any response. At present, Tan is in peril.

The following is an excerpt from a letter Tan wrote to her family when she was in detention: "Long time no see. During the past four years, I have suffered a lot of tribulations and tortures for my righteous belief and for many living beings. The persecution brought a great deal of trouble and instability to your lives. I could not help you with housework. On the contrary, because of the persecution I have become a burden for you. I feel really sad. I hope you can understand me. I believe I can survive and overcome the tribulations in the Fa-rectification period with my determined, righteous belief and righteous thoughts, to welcome the brightness of the future."

In September 2004, someone reported to police that a few practitioners were having an experience-sharing meeting. He also wrote down the number of a motorcycle license plate, thus police from Macheng City arrested practitioner Mr. Li Jinjun and extorted 8,000 Yuan from his family. [500 Yuan is the average monthly income for an urban worker in China.]

On October 19, 2004, personnel from the Fuzihe Police Precinct arrested practitioner Fu Guanghua from the Fuzihe Area in Macheng City at home and put Fu into Hubei Province's brainwashing class. On the morning of October 21, 2004, over a dozen personnel from the National Security Team of the city's police department and from the Fuzihe Police Precinct went to the Heiyuncong Residential Block, Songjiabian Village, Fuzihe Town to arrest practitioners. Without showing any search and seizure warrant, they broke into practitioners' homes and turned their homes upside down. Once they would find some Dafa materials they would arrest practitioners. They abducted practitioners Ms. Dai Zhihua and Ms. Cai Wangxi. Police in the Fuzihe Police Precinct interrogated them under torture. They beat the practitioners, who sustained severe bruises. Afterwards, they put the two practitioners into the city's Administration Detention Center. The police threatened the practitioners' families that if they would not pay 2,000 Yuan, police would transfer the two practitioners into the Criminal Detention Center for further persecution.

Ms. Yan Fenghong is a farmer from Yanyingzi Village, Chengde City. On September 14, 2004, when she was at home, police broke into her home, carried her into a car, and took her to the Dashimiao Police Station. They handcuffed her to a metal pole in the yard. An hour later, she was sent to the Lushanzi Valley Brainwashing Class and was handcuffed one more night. On the 15^th, Lu Feng and Liu Mingcheng led seven or eight persons there. They asked her what her husband's name was. She wouldn't tell them, and then they cuffed her hands behind her back and started to beat her. They put a spittoon on her head after beating her for quite a while, and then beat her again until they became tired. They beat her so badly that her body was covered with wounds. They then sent her to the Dalaohu Valley Detention Center.

She has two elderly parents and two young children at home. Her husband is sick; the whole family depends on her for a living. She firmly refused to cooperate with the police and acted in an upright manner. The police didn't get anything they wanted, so they released her on October 13.

At around 6:30 p.m. on October 13, 2004, Fu Guolu, former head of Hongsheng Village, Shuangcheng City, led Ai Changyan, Zhou Wenbin and others, a total of six persons from the Tuanjie Township Police Station to practitioner Wang Xiuyan's home. They said the head of the township would like to have a talk with her and they would take her back soon. Wang Xiuyan was then taken to the detention center in Shuangcheng City, after which she was sent to the Wanjia Forced Labor Camp. She never returned.

During the morning of October 26, 2004, personnel from Weifang City's "610 Office" arrested Mr. Dai Xueyong, a practitioner in his 30's from Weifang Special Economic Zone, Shandong Province at the phone bar he owns. They put him into a brainwashing class in the Party School of Quiwen District (former brainwashing class of the Industrial Cadre School.)

Two other practitioners, Mr. Wang Yiping and Ms. Guo Li, were arrested in Weifang that same morning of October 26.

In August 2004, authorities from the Yichun Railway Station of the Jiamusi Railway Administration Division, Heilongjiang Province detained its own employee, practitioner Xu Weijing, in the office. They did not permit him to return home, forced him to write a so-called "Guarantee Statement," and intimidated his family to hand in 5,000 Yuan, saying otherwise they would send him to Suihua City's brainwashing class in ten days for "reeducation".

Practitioner Mr. Xu Weijing, 27 years old, a very nice young man, does whatever assignment he is given. He is a diligent and reliable person. Beginning from January 2001, Mr. Xu has been held in the Yichun Detention Center for two months for appealing for Falun Gong. In the spring of 2002, the Yichun Railway Station authorities sent him to Yichun City's brainwashing class again for two months. The station authorities sent him home from work many times, saying some high level leaders would come to Yichun City. They put frequent pressure on him during these five years, forbidding him to practice Falun Gong and expelling him from the Party.

It is unknown where the station authorities sent Xu Weijing. His parents and three older sisters are very worried. His parents even fell ill from worrying so much.

Around 8:00 p.m. on September 18, 2004, Fan Wenzhi, People's Congress head and also head of Donglu Township, Qingyuan County, Baoding City, Hebei Province, led more than 20 persons and arrested Ms. Zhang Li from her home in Nanwangzhuang Village without due cause. The enforcers showed no ID. They put her in the township government building. Zhang Li kept clarifying the truth to them, but these persons were flustered and exasperated. They sent Zhang Li to the brainwashing class inside the Criminal Team of Qingyuan County's Police Department. It's been over a month and they still haven't released her.

Mr. Xiong was arrested while distributing truth-clarifying materials and has been held in Qingyuan County's brainwashing class for over 20 days. His wife Li Yanfen, who is also a practitioner, went to the brainwashing class to demand his release. She was arrested and held in the brainwashing class, too. Li Yanfen said loudly, "Falun Dafa is Great" and was thus beaten up by the brainwashing class staff with a wooden stick 50 centimeters (18 inches) in length and over three centimeters in diameter (1-1/4 inch). The stick broke into three pieces.

Now Ms. Zhang Li and Ms. Li Yanfen are on a hunger strike to resist the persecution. Practitioners in Qingyuan County's brainwashing class have to relieve themselves in their rooms.

Qingyuan County's brainwashing class had already held two senior male practitioners for two years. They still have not been released.

In July 2001, practitioner Zhang Zhenyong was sentenced to one year of forced labor. He managed to escape from Gezhou City Detention Center with the power of his righteous thoughts and lived in exile to avoid further persecution. On October 20, 2004, he was arrested in Anshan City and was held in Dashiqiao City Detention Center. On October 29, he was transferred to Gezhou City Detention Center. He's now on a hunger strike and is extremely weak.

Ms. Hui Ruiying, 66 years old, started practicing Falun Gong before July 20, 1999. On October 28, 2004, Hui Ruiying and another practitioner were arrested when they were distributing Dafa truth clarifying materials in Guanzhuang Town with another two practitioners. Hui Ruiying's home was ransacked afterward. The other two practitioners walked away with the power of their righteous thoughts.

In 1999, Xu Xiaolong, an employee of the Heat Preservation Factory, the former Tianjin Bohai Oil Trade Company, was arrested and sentenced to five years of incarceration in Tianjin City's prison.

On October 27, 2004, Xu finished the five year prison term. Since he still persists in practicing Falun Dafa, the police from Tianjin City's prison said Xu Xiaolong has not been reformed, so they transferred him to the Xiqing Police Department in Tianjin.

Now, personnel at the Xiqing Police Department have transferred Xu Xiaolong to the Liqizhuang Police Station in Dabianzhuang, Tianjin. The police from the Liqizhuang Station put Xu into the Tianjin Security Detention Center. Prior to Xu leaving Tianjin City's prison he was tortured and injured. No one was allowed to visit Xu, so his current situation is unknown. We only heard that he was badly injured.

There has been no information about practitioner Lu Yankun from Benxi City, Liaoning Province, since he was detained several years ago in Zhengzhou City for clarifying the truth by tapping into a TV network system. His wife Wang Xunzhi, also a Benxi practitioner, was sentenced to two years of forced labor and detained at the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp. His son Lu Baiyu, a sixth-grade student and also a practitioner, was able to read Zhuan Falun when he was only three years old. Lu Yankun's mother was currently asking for information about her son.

Practitioner Liu Dongcai, in his 50's, from the Weicheng District, Weifang City was living in the Furong Area, Weicheng District. On October 21, 2004, he was arrested and taken to the Weicheng District Detention Center when he was distributing truth-clarifying materials in Wangliu Town, Weicheng District. The police tried to extort 10,000 Yuan from his family. The non-practicing family member scraped together 7,000 Yuan and handed it in to the police, but to date Liu has not been released.

On October 15, 2004, Mr. Liu Fude and his wife from Yaodian Village, Jitai Town, Shouguang City were reported to the police and arrested when they were clarifying the truth in Jitai Town. Liu and his wife were later incarcerated in Shouguang City Detention Center. Two days later, officers from Jitai Town Police Station successively arrested Ms. Zhao Jinmei, another senior practitioner from Yaodian Village, Ms. Guo Xiuqing, and Ms. Chen Xiuyun from Qijia Village. The police extorted 10,000 yuan from Zhao Jinmei's family, and 6,000 yuan from the rest of the families. Chen Xiuyun is still in detention.

Personnel from the local "610 Office" and hospital security personnel are the guilty parties. They did this merely because she persists in practicing Falun Gong. Mr. Zhou Jianwu from Wuhan City is currently being incarcerated at the Qinduankou Prison in the Hanyang District. In order to protest this unreasonable persecution, he refused to do manual labor. Because of this the prison tortured him more heavily, such as handcuffing and shackling him and putting him into a solitary confinement. In spite of that, Mr. Zhou still refused to do any labor. He was again brutally beaten, knocked against a wall and was kept handcuffed and shackled in the solitary confinement.

Practitioners detained at the prison protested the persecution together by refusing to do any forced labor. Furthermore, they used all kinds of methods to clarify the truth of Falun Gong to peoples around them.

Ms. Zhan Lanzhen is a practitioner from Chongqing. She is in her 30's and lives at No.2 Village, West Suburb, Yangjiaping Village, Jiulongpo District. When she went downstairs on September 18, 2004 in the morning, police from Chongqing's National Security Bureau arrested her and searched her house. She is currently being incarcerated at the Huayan Detention Center in Jiulongpo District. Her family was not allowed to see her and the police heavily punishing her.

Practitioner Mr. Nie Jiheng from Chongqing, in his 60's, is a retired engineer from the Daojiao Chemical Factory in the Lijiatuo District. He was deprived of freedom at Banan District Detention Center and had been tortured so brutally that his life was at stake. Then he was sent to the Huaxi Hospital and died there in February 2004. However, police lied, saying that Mr. Nie Jiheng committed suicide by jumping off a tall building. Detailed information is so far unknown.

Ms. Wan Chuanling and Ms. Chen Hong from Chongqing were arrested around October 19 when they were distributing truth-clarifying materials in Bishan County. Their whereabouts are unknown.

Around May 2004, Ms. Chen Jing and Ms. Cao Yankun from Zhaodong City went to Shangjia Town to distribute truth-clarifying materials. Wang Guoqing, Party secretary for the Wujian Team, Shangjia Town, collaborated with enforcers from Shangjia Town's Police Precinct to arrest them. The two practitioners were released after being held at Zhaodong City Detention Center for several months.

On October 27, 2004, practitioner Ms. Xie Meiying from Ninghai City was arrested in Xiangshan City, Zhejiang Province. At about 11:00 p.m. Ms. Xie's house was ransacked and some truth-clarifying posters and cash were confiscated.

Another practitioner, Li Yujun, was also arrested and his house ransacked.

Ms. Chen Fenglan lives in No.7 Group, Zengzhuang Village, Chengguan Town, Shangshui County. She was arrested for distributing truth-clarifying materials and is currently being held at Zhoukou City Detention Center.

Ms. Xiao Jing, about 60 years old, lives in Dama Village, Shangshui County. She was arrested for distributing truth-clarifying materials.

Ms. Wang Lan, about 50 years old, was also arrested for distributing Falun Dafa materials.

Ren Damao, head of the county's "610 Office," took the three practitioners back to Shangshui County's Detention Center.
