(Clearwisdom.net) On February 1, 2004, the Chinese language World Journal Daily reported in its News from Ottawa that the World Organization to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong (WOIPFG) wrote a letter to French president Jacques Chirac on January 30th to express its deep concern for the unjust arrest and brutal treatment of Falun Gong practitioners, including 30 from Taiwan, in Paris during the visit of China's president Hu Jintao. A copy of the letter was also sent to the French Congress. The illegal action of the Paris police is another example of the Chinese government extending the persecution overseas. The organization has started to investigate this matter.

The letter to President Chirac mentioned that French policemen unjustly detained and violently treated Falun Gong practitioners in Paris. The police even said that the color yellow and clothes and badges with "Truthfulness, Compassion, and Tolerance" were not allowed in France. The International Organization to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong was deeply concerned that this incident, so similar to what happens in the persecution of Falun Gong in China, could have taken place in the free and democratic country of France.

The letter also said that they believed the incident was not a true choice from Chirac's heart. A democratic country has a duty to correct its wrongs, however, and the organization is willing to cooperate with the French authorities involved to investigate the incident.

In conclusion, the letter explained that Falun Gong practitioners, joined by many international organizations, had formed a Preparatory Committee to Establish International Special Tribunal (CIST) to try the persecutors of Falun Gong on December 8, 2003. They will work together with all international righteous forces to establish the special court as soon as possible. The special court would reflect the Nuremberg trials and bring the criminals who launched or participated in the persecution of Falun Gong to justice.

Canadian Falun Gong practitioners also wrote a letter to the French government to express their deep concern over the incident and urged the French government to correct its mistakes immediately to avoid further damage to the sovereignty of and the international reputation of France. At noon on January 30th, practitioners held a protest in front of the French Embassy in Ottawa to expose China's actions extending the persecution of Falun Gong overseas.
