Many Falun Dafa practitioners went to fellow practitioner Mr. Zheng Zhong's funeral (he was tortured to death) on March 11, 2004. Thereafter, police in Huangzhou, Huanggang City, Hubei Province began chasing after and abducting these practitioners.

Around March 14, 2004, police arrested Mr. and Ms. Zhang Daohe, Mr. Lu Li-an, Mr. Yu Jinming, Wang Feng (gender unknown), Ms. Fan Xiaoping, and Shen Wei (gender unknown), among others. They ransacked practitioners' homes.

Practitioner Ms. Liu Juhua, who had already served time in labor camps twice, had to become homeless in order to avoid being wrongfully arrested at home. On May 18, 2004, practitioner Ms. Wang Guilan was abducted. Practitioner Ms. Zheng Hong was abducted by the police, and is currently detained in the Huangzhou No.1 Detention Center.

On May 10, 2004, police in the No.1 Ward of the Baoding Labor Camp in Hebei Province started a "comprehensive attack" plan to further torture Falun Dafa practitioners, using electric batons. Practitioners Mr. Liu Xinwu, Mr. Jin Qi, and Mr. Chen Fulu each have 30-40 scars resulting from the shocks. Mr. Liu Xinwu passed out from the severity of the electric shocks. Practitioner Mr. Liu Hui was tied onto the bed, and shocked on his palms and feet simultaneously with three electric batons. The high voltage current made his body convulse vigorously, and his body jumped above the bed. The pain was unbearable.

Falun Dafa practitioner Mr. Li Wenming and his wife Xiao Yanhong from Lanzhou City, Gansu Province have not had a normal family life since the persecution started. Mr. Li Wenming was arrested four times, detained for six months, and served 18 months of forced labor. He was also sent to brainwashing class, and escaped. At the beginning of September 2002, Mr. Li was arrested a fourth time and sentenced to 20 years in prison for his involvement in tapping into TV signals to broadcast the truth of Falun Dafa and the persecution. Ms. Xiao Yanhong was sentenced to one year of labor camp in November 1999, and was sent to a brainwashing class directly after the term ended. Because she declared her "guarantee statements" (1) null and void on the Internet, Ms. Xiao was arrested and taken to prison again directly from the brainwashing class. She was released on bail in the middle of September 2001, and now she has had to become destitute and homeless in order to avoid being wrongfully arrested at home. Ms. Xiao is on the wanted list of the Lanzhou City police.

Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Zhao Xiaoqun is 62 years old. On December 12, 1999, she was arrested when going to Beijing to appeal for Dafa, and was detained for 25 days. In August 2000, she was locked up in the Baiheshanzhuang brainwashing class for nine days. On May 21, 2000, Ms. Zhao was abducted from her home and taken to a detention center. She was sentenced to three years of labor camp on June 27, 2000. She was sent to the Maojiashan Women's Labor Camp, where ten drug addict prisoners monitored her every day. The police force-fed her with drugs, and forced her to watch videos or listen to audiotapes that slander Falun Dafa. The police also forced her to run and stand for long periods, and took away her right to use the toilet, or to sleep. She went on a hunger strike to protest the persecution, but was brutally force-fed. She was locked in a "small cell" for one month (a type of torture). She became emaciated and the police were afraid that she might die in the labor camp, so they sent her home, saying she was "bailed out for medical treatment."

On April 8, 2003, lawless officials in the Huangzhou District Court in Hubei Province held a secret trial and heavily sentenced Falun Dafa practitioner Mr. Zhang Qingming from Huanggang City, Hubei Province. Witnesses and Mr. Zhang's family members said that the trial was held in secret and was completely and illegally closed off to the public. The trial notice was received only one day before the trial. They did not notify the family members or lawyer, there was no jury or visitor present, and no family members were present. All the windows and doors were closed. No explanation was given as to why this trial was held in secret.

(1) "Guarantee statements" declare that he or she is remorseful for practicing Falun Gong and guarantee not to practice Falun Gong again, not to go to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong, and never again associate with any Falun Dafa practitioners.
