Today's News from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 29 cities or counties in 11 provinces. In this report, 32 Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 24 practitioners were illegally arrested.

Mo Shaoping, a lawyer in Beijing, was to defend an appeal in the Hangzhou City Intermediate Court on December 5, 2007. He will request the release of Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Jin Meihua. Ms. Jin is presently being held at the city's Laodongyue Detention Center.

Dafa practitioner Ms. Wang Zhongxiu, about 40 years old, from Laodian Village, Xinzhuang Town, Zhaoyuan City was arrested from her home on December 3, 2007. She is presently being held at the Lingnan Gold Mine Brainwashing Center.

Ms. Lin Shilian talked about Falun Gong to two young strangers who turned out to be plainclothes agents near the Chikan District Sports Field in Zhanjiang City on November 17, 2007. As a result, she was arrested.

Eight officers from the Jing'an Police Station arrested Ms. Huang Du from Jing'an Town in the Doumen District, Zhuhai City the afternoon of November 27, 2007. They ransacked her home and confiscated several brochures, some truth-clarification CDs, and several copies of the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party. Ms. Huang is presently being held at the city's No. 3 Detention Center.

Practitioner Ms. Li Anxiu disappeared on November 20, 2007 after she went to Xichong County. Personnel from the county police department ransacked her home the afternoon of November 30, 2007.

Personnel from the Baixiang Police Station arrested Dafa practitioner Ms. Long Xiang from Xiaoshi Village, Qinyang County, Jiaozuo City in mid-November 2007. She is presently being held at the county detention center.

Police officers from the Hejian City Oil Extraction No. 3 Factory arrested 60-year-old Ms. Li Rujuan, an employee from the Huabei Oil Field in Renqiu City on October 9, 2007 when she visited her son. Ms. Li, a Falun Gong practitioner, is currently being held at the Huabei Oil Field's Detention Center. It has been heard that Hejian City court agents will sentence Ms. Li soon.

Personnel from the Huanghai Police Station arrested 72-year-old Ms. Sun Guilan on November 10, 2007, when she explained the facts of Falun Gong in the Donghu Market. She was taken to the Tiexi District Police Department and fined 5,000 yuan. Her family invited some policemen for a dinner, which cost 1,000 yuan, and the police then released her.

Ms. You Guiying, Ms. You Xiuyun, Ms. Bai Yulan and Ms. Zhao Guiqin from Wangzhuang Village, Puji Town, Zhangqiu City, Ms. Li Yueying from Wawu Village, and Mr. Li Weizong from Majie Village studied Zhuan Falun together in a cave on November 30, 2007. Wang Shancong, a villager, found them when he was out chopping firewood in the mountains. He reported them to village heads Wang Wanbao and Wang Shaowen who further reported the incident to the Puji Police Station. Police station deputy chief Wang Chuanhai led some officers to the cave and arrested five practitioners except Mr. Li Weizong who temporarily escaped. They arrested Mr. Li the next day. The six practitioners were taken to the Mingshui Detention Center.

Mr. Han Dequan was arrested on November 17, 2001 for explaining the facts of Falun Gong with a loudspeaker. After being persecuted and tortured in the Shenyang City Prison for six years, he was eventually released on November 17, 2007.

Mr. Shen Guanglu from Mengshui Town, the Zhoucun District, Zibo City escaped when police attempted to arrest him in September 2006. He lived in exile for a while and then came back home. The police arrested him on September 12, 2007. He is presently being held at the district detention center.

Personnel from the Yingtan Guixi City 610 Office, from the National Security Division and from a police department arrested Mr. Wang Xin and Mr. Ai Guoxiang from a city in Jiangxi Province on October 14, 2007. The police covered their heads with black cloth and brought them to a place for interrogation and torture. They hired local ruffians to beat them during the interrogation.

Six practitioners were arrested recently. Mr. Huang Hongqiang, a teacher from the city's middle school, and Ms. Peng Ying, a store owner were arrested from their homes on October 7, 2007. Ms. Cao Weihong, the city's Xintiandi Kindergarten director, and Ms. Huang Lanqin, a store owner were arrested. According to personnel from the city's National Security Division, these practitioners' cases have been submitted to the city Procuratorate.

Officials from the Deyang City Fireproof Materials Factory stopped paying Dafa practitioner Mr. Meng Hualong's retirement pension and deleted his name from the retirees' list in October 2007. Mr. Meng is presently being held at the Mianyang City Xinhua Forced Labor Camp.

Mr. Li Kuncai was transferred from the Hebei Province Xingtai City Brainwashing Center to the Xinji City Detention Center on November 15, 2007. He was held there for 15 days and then taken to the Tianzhuang Township Detention Center in Xinji City.

Several policemen broke into 60-year-old Ms. Lin Fumei's home in the Shengli Oil Field's Construction No. 8 Division dormitories and ransacked the place on October 19, 2007. They confiscated some Dafa books and truth-clarification materials and put her in the Jishu Brainwashing Center. There, the police deprived her of sleep for two days and tried to force her to tell them the source of the truth-clarification materials. Ms. Lin walked away from the brainwashing center in the middle of the night of October 21, 2007 when the policeman watching her slept. The police went to every one of Ms. Lin's relatives' home and interrogated her family members. Ms. Lin is presently living in exile.

Didao District Police Department's National Security Division officer Wu Yufu arrested practitioner Mr. Li Baochen the night of November 29, 2007. He is presently being held at the Jixi City No.2 Detention Center.

Personnel from the Binhai Gudao Police Department arrested Dafa practitioner Ms. Li Haiying, an employee from the Shengli Oil Field's Youqi Jishu Gudao Factory, on November 30, 2007. They ransacked her home and confiscated a laptop computer and a printer. Police interrogated Ms. Li and deprived of her sleep. They did not even allow her to drink or eat anything.

Ms. Quan Haiyan, 39 years old, from Jingzhou City was arrested at 9:00 p.m. on November 28 when she distributed Falun Gong truth-clarification materials near the Xinnan Gate. She is currently being held at the Shashi City No. 1 Detention Center.

A practitioner from Datong City has often been arrested and was extorted out of a total of 36,000 yuan. Zhang Ji, 610 Office head, extorted 10,000 yuan from this practitioner. Niu Quanxi, an officer from the Chengqu Police Department's 610 Office extorted 3,000 yuan. The practitioner was fined 3,000 yuan in the Nanjiao District and 20,000 yuan by the local 610 Office.

Personnel from the Nanyang City Wancheng Police Department's National Security Division including Du Siwei arrested 70-year-old Ms. Gong from her home at 10:00 a.m. on November 27, 2007. They confiscated two bags of Falun Gong truth-clarification materials and Ms. Gong's personal phone book.

Ms. Ni Chunlan was arrested some time around November 26, 2007.

Huangshi City Xialu District Court agents will hold a hearing for Ms. He Guoping, Ms. Xie Xiufang and Ms. Liu Xiaolian at 8:00 a.m. on December 10, 2007.

Policeman Pu Hanning from the Hanbin District in Ankang City arrested 70-year-old Ms. Wang Xiuzhen on November 21, 2007 for distributing Falun Gong truth-clarification materials.

Personnel from the Shanghai City 610 Office arrested Ms. Song Weiyu and her husband on November 8, 2007. Ms. Song has been sent into a hospital, and her husband is presently being held at the Hongkou District Detention Center.

Police from Huailai County arrested several practitioners and put them in the Huailai County Ertaizi Detention Center on October 9, 2007. They then ordered the practitioners' families to pay fines.

Ms. Liu Zhonghong was extorted out of 6,700 yuan, Mr. Wang Cunlai 5,700 yuan, and Ms. Li Fengqin 8,700 yuan.

Ms. Wang Yanjun was issued an arrest certificate, and her case was submitted to the local court. She staged a hunger strike on December 1, 2007 to protest the unlawful arrest.

Jidong County National Security Division agents extorted 3,000 yuan from Ms. Qiu Shufeng's family and then released her the night of December 3, 2007.

Three officers from the Wujia Township Police Station in Panshan County, Panjin City arrested Mr. Wang Mingjie, an employee from the Liaohe Oil Field Shihua Company, and Mr. Zhang Dalin from the Xinglongtai District. The practitioners were arrested in Panjin City the night of November 13, 2007. Mr. Wang has since been released. Officials from the Benxi City Forced Labor Camp refused to admit Mr. Zhang for health reasons. He has now been released.

December 4, 2007
