(Clearwisdom.net) On April 1, 2008, the Shouguang City police again arrested Ms. Sang Chunlian, a Falun Gong practitioner from Houzhang Village. Agents from the Shouguang City 610 Office, along with officers from the Shouguang City Police Department, interrogated her using torture and sexual abuse on the evening of September 24, 2007. At about 10 o'clock on April 1, 2008, Communist regime personnel also arrested practitioner Ms. Sun Guizhen, her non-practitioner husband, and her son-in-law. The captors released her son-in-law late that evening. Ms. Sun Guizhen and her husband are still detained in the industrial area's street police station.
On the evening of April 2, 2008, Shouguang TV station broadcast a speech by Shouguang City Party Secretary Liu Zhongquan that he presented at a city council meeting, addressing the persecution of Falun Gong.
As the newly appointed secretary, Liu publicly professed his intention to suppress Falun Gong in March 2007. During a November 2007 meeting he made arrangements to personally persecute Falun Gong practitioners. Liu also declared on TV that he wanted to wage a tough, three-year battle against Falun Gong. The Shouguang Daily then published the same content.
