(Clearwisdom.net) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 36 cities or counties in 15 provinces. In this report, 3 practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention and at least 86 practitioners were illegally arrested.

Zhulu County officials are using the upcoming Olympics as excuse for persecuting practitioners. They implemented a directive calling for monitoring and registering of all practitioners. They forced practitioners to sign statements to give up their beliefs. When practitioners refuse to write or sign, they threaten to fire them from their jobs.

On the afternoon of May 20, 2008, Ms. Chen Xiu was arrested by National Security guards who broke into the oil store owned by her family. Police ransacked her home and confiscated Dafa books and materials, TV sets, CDs, etc. Chen Xiu is detained at the Maoming Law School.

Ms. Zhang Xiuying (in her fifties) is from Tiexi District in Anshan City. She was followed and arrested by plainclothes police on May 21, when she was distributing truth-clarification materials about the persecution of Falun Gong. She was taken to the Dadaowan Police Station.

Ms. Qian Mei was reported on May 22, when clarifying the truth about the persecution of Falun Gong. Police from the Xinshi Police Station arrested her. Her whereabouts are unknown.

At around 8:00 p.m. on May 22, police arrested Ms. Du Laner, Ms. Liang Fuxiang and Ms. Li Aijin from Chengguan Township in Wuan City and their homes were ransacked. They are detained in the Wuan City Detention Center.

Ms. Zhang Shuxiang from Nankai District in Tianjing, about 60 years old, was arrested by police at her home on the evening of May 21. Police ransacked her home and confiscated the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party and a VCD recorder.

7. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Li Ge and Mr. Xu Zhongqiang Arrested

In the early morning of May 22, police officers from the Zuhua Police Station in Wafangdian arrested Mr. Li Ge and Mr. Xu Zhongqiang when they were distributing truth-clarification materials about the persecution of Falun Gong. They are detained in the Wafangdian City Detention Center.

On May 22, Ms. Zhang Huimin was arrested and taken to the Zunhua City Brainwashing Center.

At around 5:00 a.m. on May 19, police from the Dawa County Police Department and Xinkai Police Station ransacked the home of Zheng Xiaopin. They confiscated Falun Dafa books, VCDs, and brochures, and arrested Zheng Xiaopin. They then ransacked the home of Ms. Qi Hongyu and arrested Qi Hongyu and Mr. Wang Haisheng. They were taken to the No. 3 Detention Center in Panjin. Qi Hongyu was beaten and suffered a concussion.

In April 2008, Mr. Li Kunpin was sentenced to a four-year prison term by officials from the Yongshan County Court in Zhaotong, Yunnan. Mr. Li Kunpin and his wife Ms. Li Qian were arrested by officers from the Yongren County Police Station in Zhuxiong, Yunnan and are still detained at Yongren. They have a 6-year-old son and a 3-year-old daughter at home, with no one to take care of them.

Mr. Zhang Lichen from the Shijinshan District in Beijing, in his forties, was arrested by plainclothes police from the Mentougou Branch Police Station. The police confiscated his computer, printer and other items.

Mr. Huo Yanguang distributed VCDs of the Chinese New Year Spectacular in the Beijing No. 2 Foreign Language University. For this he was detained for a month at Chaoyang Police Station. He was then transferred to the dispatch center of Tuanhe Forced Labor Camp in Beijing and sentenced to 2 years and 6 months of forced labor.

On April 23, police from the Wujialin Police Station in Kaifu District in Changsha City arrested Ms. He Xianggu, a nurse from the Hunan Women and Child Health Care Center. She was sentenced to forced labor and re-education and taken to the Baimalong Female Forced Labor Camp in Zhuzhou, Hunan Province.

On May 15, police from the Beimen Police Station in Liaoyang City and Baita Police Station arrested Ms. Zhao Suqing and Ms. Yao from Liaoyang City, when they were clarifying the truth about the persecution of Falun Gong in a market. The practitioners are detained in the Zhizuizi Forced Labor Camp in Liaoyang City.

On May 20, Ms. Zhang Lianyun (in her fifties) was reported in Dezhou and arrested by Dezhou police.

On May 23, police arrested Mr. Tao Huazhong and his daughter Ms. Tao Airong. The police climbed over a stone wall and then broke into their home.

On May 21, the police arrested Ms. Ding Nan.

18. [Mianyang City, Sichuan Province] Five Falun Gong Practitioners Arrested

At around 8:00 p.m. on May 19, while practitioners from Mianyang City, including Ms. Zeng Shurong, Ms. Zeng Shufang, Ms. Yuan Xiuzhen and Ms. Li Fubi, were at the No. 404 Hospital to clarify truth about the persecution of Falun Gong to earthquake victims, they were reported. Three security guards from the hospital stopped and reported them to officers from the local police station. They were arrested.

On May 23, practitioners Mr. Zhang Zhaoyu and Ms. Han Fenglian, who had left home to avoid persecution for many years, were arrested.

In the mid-March, Mr. Liu Ruisheng and his wife Ms. Xin Chunrong (in their fifties), from the Chaoyang District, Beijing, were arrested. Their whereabouts are unknown.

At noontime on April 25, Ms. Xu Jiamei (in her seventies) was arrested at her home. Her home was ransacked.

Practitioner Ms. Peng Darong (in her fifties) from the Tongchuan District, Dazhou City, was harassed and mistreated. Li Changwen and Gao Qingchuan from the security department at her workplace are monitoring her continuously.

In the early morning of May 21, officers from Zhuhua Police Station arrested Mr. Xu Zhongqiang and Ms. Li Pin. On May 23, their homes were ransacked.

On May 13, Ms. Gu Yongxia and Ms. Zhang Weiqing were arrested.

On the afternoon of May 20, police from the Suning County Police Station confiscated Mr. Zhang Junming's satellite dish and Dafa materials. He was arrested but escaped the same day.

Mr. Wang Guoming is a senior engineer and practitioner in Beijing. On April 29, 2008, police officers arrested him when he was found distributing truth clarification materials about the persecution of Falun Gong in the Haizhu District of Guangzhou City. He is detained and being subjected to mistreatment at the Haizhu Detention Center in Nanzhoulu, Guangzhou City.

On the night of May 18, Ms. Jiang Yifen, a practitioner from the Xindu District, Chengdu City, was reported. Police from the Chengxi Police Station of the Xindu District arrested her when she was clarifying the truth about the persecution of Falun Gong at the Baoguang Plaza. She is detained at the Chengxi Police Station.

On the night of April 2, practitioner Mr. Wang Zhentang from Lijiasi Village, Qijia Township, Shuanyang District in Changchun City, was arrested. He was taken to the Shuangyang District Detention Center. He was sentenced to one year of forced labor.

On May 22, 2008, the police arrested Ms. Hu Xinyu, Ms. Que Fafeng and Ms Gao Longying when they were clarifying the truth about the persecution of Falun Gong.

On the night of May 22, 2008, police arrested Ms. Feng Pin, Ms. Huang Lanzhi and Ms. Zhong Sufen from Changde. The police ransacked their homes. Zhong Sufen was released, but Feng Pin and Huang Lanzhi are still detained.

At noontime on May 17, police from the Wudaogang Branch of the Dongfeng County Police Station arrested Mr. and Ms. Zhao Yingkai, Mr. and Ms. Jia Xiulou, Ms. Wu Chunfeng, and Mr. Wang Laosan. All six practitioners are detained in the Dongfeng County Detention Center.

On April 24, police officers arrested Ms. Wang Xuezhu at her home. Police confiscated three computers, two printers, a VCD player and a set of satellite receiver.

At around 4:00 p.m. on May 21, police from the Binhe Township Police Station in Zhongwei City broke into the home of Ms. Wang Guilan. They ransacked her home and arrested her. She is detained in the Zhongwei City Detention Center.

On the evening of May 20, Wang Shaobo and others from the Qianmen Police Station, along with officers from the local police station and staff from the 610 Office broke into the home of Ms. Liu Danyu, who is 65 years old. On May 21-22, officers from the Xinhua Police Station in the No. 272 Factory in Dongyangdu Township in Hengyang City illegally arrested Mr. Liu Shuangquan, Ms. Zhang Guolan and Mr. Jiang Zhengchao. They also confiscated Falun Dafa books, a computer and DVDs.

At 10:00 a.m. on May 22, police officers arrested Ms. Zhao Zemin on Xiguan Street in Qi County.

In May, 2008, Mr. Han Shien from Dongchangtun Village in Dongzhao Township was arrested and taken to the county detention center.

On May 8, 2008, police from the Gaojuehua Township Police Station in Maomin City pretended that they needed to "talk" with Ms. Pan Dongmei, who is in her thirties. They arrested and took her to the Hexizhongdui Law School in Maomin City and detained her.

At 9:30 a.m. on May 24, Ms. Zhu Yin and Ms. Guan Fengzhi were arrested.

At around 8:00 p.m. on May 20, 2008, police from the Xinjilin Police Station arrested Mr. Lin Jun, 52, from Jinlin City. They broke into and ransacked his home. Mr. Lin Jun is detained in a detention center.

On May 23, 2008, the police arrested Ms. Zhang Min from Baishan City and ransacked her home. Her Falun Dafa books and other items were confiscated.

On the afternoon of May 22, Mr. Yang Daan and Ms. Tan Meirong from Hengshan were clarifying the truth about the persecution of Falun Gong in Changjiang Township in Hengshan, when officers from the Changjiang Police Station arrested them. They ransacked the home of Tan Meirong and confiscated her Falun Dafa books and other materials. They are detained in the Hengshan County Detention Center.
