(Clearwisdom.net) Several dozen practitioners and supporters of the Falun Gong gathered on the lawn at the Independence Visitors Center for a candlelight vigil on the eve of the Olympics.
The vigil was to commemorate the Falun Gong practitioners who have died for their beliefs in China. Falun Gong adherent Cindy Wong says the Chinese government [Chinese Communist regime] has been cracking down on the religious practice since December 2007.
"Under the name of the good environment for Olympics, they intensified, used this as a sensitive time period to intensify the arrests, a lot of arrests happened since December 2007," she says.
The vigil featured placards showing the torture of Falun Gong members. Wong says there are also reports that the Chinese government [Chinese Communist regime] is killing practitioners to harvest their organs.
Wong says Falun Gong believes in truth, compassion and tolerance.
