Today's News from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 39 cities or counties in 16 provinces. In this report, 12 practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 96 practitioners were illegally arrested.
1. [Mianyang City, Sichuan Province] Mianyang Police Arrested Falun Dafa Practitioners
On August 7, 2008, Ms. Sun Renzhi and Ms. Liang Bizhen from Zaojiaopu Village, Xinzao Town, were arrested.
Around midnight on August 8, 2008, police went to search the home of Mr. Sun Yi in Meijiagou Village, Xinzao Town, Mianyang City. They took away a laptop, a portable hard drive, 2 USB drives, a laser printer, an ink-jet color printer, ten satellite receivers, two sets of satellite dishes and some truth-clarifying material. Later on, police forcibly opened the door to the home of Mr. Sun's younger brother and searched his home. The two brothers' wives were taken away and released the next afternoon. Currently, Mr. Sun Yi and his younger brother have been forced to become homeless.
2. [Rushan, Shandong Province] Ms. Sun Jixiang and Her Relatives Arrested.
On August 6, 2008, Ms. Sun Jixiang, in her 60s, went to visit her niece in Chedao Village, Wuji Town. She and the entire family were arrested.
3. [Zhuozhou City, Hubei Province] Mr. Li Jinping Persecuted Again.
On July 21, 2008, the national security team of the Zhuozhou City Police Department took away Mr. Li Jinping from Xiaowu Village, Zhuozhou City Developing District and sent him to a detention center, where he was persecuted for ten days. On August 1, he was released after being extorted of 8000 yuan.
On August 2, 2008, the Zhuozhou City 610 Office sent Mr. Li to a brainwashing center for persecution.
4. [Qinglong County, Hebei Province] Ms. Du Fengqin Arrested.
At 10 pm on August 4, 2008, Chief Tian Shiqing from the Maquanzi Town Social Security Center led three policemen to arrest Ms. Du Fengqin from Erdaohezi, Qinglong County while she was distributing truth-clarifying material. Now she is being detained in the Qinglong County Detention Center.

5. [Guanghan City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Liao Wuxiang, Ms. Zhang Juying and Ms. Xiao Lan Arrested.
On the morning of July 23, 2008, Ms. Liao Wuxiang from Jinyu Town, Guanghan City went to visit Ms. Zhang Juying. Police from the Jinyu Police Station and officers from the Jinyu No. 11 Group broke into Ms. Zhang' home and arrested the two practitioners.
On the morning of August 8, 2008, Ms. Xiao Lan from Lianshan Town was arrested by police from the Lianshan Town Police Station while she was clarifying the truth at a market.
Currently, they are both detained in the Hexing Town brainwashing center in Guanghan City.
6. [Nenjiang County, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Zhang Yuxia Arrested.
On August 1, 2008, Ms. Zhang Yuxia from Nenjiang County was reported to police by her neighbor Han Li. The Nenjiang County National Security Team arrested her from her home and took away Dafa books. Now she is being detained in the Nenjiang County Detention Center.

7. [Panjin City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Sun Yunjie and Ms. Sun Yunzhen Arrested.
On the morning of August 7, 2008, police from the Qianjin Police Station in Dawa County went to search the home of Ms. Sun Yunjie and Ms. Sun Yunzhen,with the excuse of checking residency identification. The police took away Dafa books and truth-clarifying material. The two practitioners were arrested and sent to the Dawa County Detention Center.
8. [Huadian City, Jilin Province] Ms. Lu Chunxiang and Ms. Lu Chuanhuan Arrested.
At 5 am on August 8, 2008, five or six policemen from the 610 Office and the Minghua Police Station broke into the home of Ms. Lu Chunxiang and Ms. Lu Chunhuan from Huadian City and took them to a brainwashing session at the CCP Party School.
9. [Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province] Police from the Gangcheng Police Department Arrested Dozens of Practitioners with the Excuse of the Olympic Games.
In August 2008, police from the Gangcheng Police Department of the Xuanhua Steel Company in Zhangjiakou City arrested dozens of Falun Dafa practitioners who work for the company. The practitioners were sent to detention centers, the Xuanhua brainwashing center, the Zhangjiakou brainwashing center, etc.
Those arrested practitioners include Ms. Zhao Lihua, Ms. Feng Yanli, Ms. Shi Fengxian, Ms. Bai Yonghua, Ms. Wang Hong'e, Ms. Yang Guifen, Ms. Sun Ming, Ms. An Xiurong, Ms. Su Puyu, Ms. Zhao Guiping, Mr. Zhao Yijun, Mr. Wang Fubin, Mr. Ren Yuzhong, Mr. Zhang Gong, Mr. Wen Guocai and Mr. Jia Chunnian. Ms. Sun Ming is about 60 years old and was detained many times. Mr. Ren Yuzhong is about 40 years old and he and his wife were sent to labor camps. Mr. Jia Chunnian's wife was illegally sentenced at the beginning of 2008.
10. [Qingdao City, Shandong Province] Ms. Li Cailing Arrested.
Ms. Li Cailing from Nan District, Qingdao City is 45 years old. On August 1, 2008, she was arrested from her office. Now she is being detained in the Dashan Detention Center in Qingdao City.
11. [Lanzhou City, Gansu Province] On the Morning of August 9, 2008, Mr. Fang Shuguang Arrested from His Home by the Chengguan Police Department.
12. [Hegang, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Di Huibin, Ms. Xiao Qi and Ms. Xiao Sun Arrested on August 8, 2008.
13. [Fangcheng County, Henan Province] Ms. Cheng Ping Arrested.
On August 6, 2008, police of Fangcheng County arrested Ms. Cheng Ping. She is being detained in the Xiguan Detention Center in Fangcheng County.
14. [Beijing City] Ms. Wei Hui and Two Other Practitioners Sent to Forced Labor Camp.
Ms. Wei Hui and her mother went to Gaobeidian to visit her cousin. They were arrested by the local police and sentenced to serve one year's forced labor. Currently, Ms. Wei Hui is being detained in the first division of the Hebei Provincial Women's Forced Labor Camp. Her mother and cousin are being detained in the second and the third division of the same camp, respectively.
15. [Huolinguole City, Inner Mongolia] Mr. Liu Zichen Arrested.
At noon on August 6, 2008, Chief Li Bu of the national security team of the Huolinguole City Police Department led police to break into the home of Mr. Liu Zichen and took him to the national security team.
16. [Yongji County, Jilin Province] Mr. Yang Chenghua and Ms. Jin Shuping Arrested.
At 4 am on August 10, 2008, Gao Wei of the Chaluhe Town Government and Guo Laigang of the Chanluhe Police Department led people to break into the home of Mr. Yang Chenghua who is 44 years old and lives in Chaluhe Town, Yongji County. Mr. Yang Chenghua was taken away. Now he is being detained in the Chundeng Township Brainwashing Center in Yongji County.
At 4:20 am on August 10, 2008, Guo Laigang led seven or eight people to search the home of Ms. Jin Shuping (55 years old) and arrested her.
17. [Liaoning Province] Mr. Che Changyao and His Wife Ms. Han Jie from Hongqi Town, Bayuquan Have Been Missing Since 2000.
18. [Baoding City, Hebei Province] At the Beginning of August 2008, Ms. Tian Shuqin of the Baoding Swan Chemical Fiber Group Company Arrested.
19. [Hengshui City, Hebei Province] On July 25, 2008, Chen Zhenjing of the Yiheng Chemical Group Company Arrested.
20. [Maoming City, Guangdong Province] On July 30, 2008 Mr. Luo Ji Arrested.
21. [Beijing City] Ms. Su Yinrong of Beijing National Meteorological Bureau Arrested and Her Home Searched on July 19, 2008
22. [Hengshui City, Hebei Province] Ms. Wang Chunlan Persecuted.
At 9 am on August 3, 2008, policeman Cui Jian, accompanied by personnel of Datan Village Jia Wensheng and Liu Hongshun, rushed into the home of Ms. Wang Chunlan again. They took away Dafa books and other property. And then they arrested Ms. Wang Chunlan. Now she is being detained in the Gucheng County Detention Center.
23. [Wei County, Hebei Province] Recent Information about Persecution of Employees of the Tongxintang Chinese Pharmacy.
Mr. Han Zhe, a doctor, was punished with ten days' detention (from August 3 to August 12). He was detained in the Wei County Detention Center. Ms. Li Dongpo, Ms. Han Xiurong and Ms. Liu Yahua were sent to the Zhangjiakou City brainwashing center. Other arrested employees have been released home.
24. [Zibo City, Shandong Province] Mr. Wei Zhenbao and His Wife Ms. Wang Ping Arrested.
On the afternoon of August 6, 2008, Liu Chuanbao, who is the village committee member of Zongzipo Village, Mashang Town, Zhangdian District, Zibo City, led the local police and the personnel of the 610 Office to forcibly take away Mr. Wei Zhenbao and his wife Ms. Wang Ping. They were sent to the Zibo City Legal System Education Center (a brainwashing center).
25. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] Ms. Cao Junping and Mr Pang Xiaoqian Arrested.
On July 28, 2008, Ms. Cao Junping and her husband Mr. Pang Xiaoqian were arrested. On July 31, 2008, the police broke into their home and searched the home.
26. [Mengyin County, Shandong Province] Ms. Ma Xiuwen and Ms. Zhang Defeng Arrested
At 5 pm on July 16, 2008, police from the Jiepai Town 610 Office and the Chongshan Police Station broke into the homes of Ms. Ma Xiuwen and Ms. Zhang Defeng at Jiepai Town. The police arrested the two practitioners and sent them to a brainwashing center in Mengyin County 610 Office. On August 5, 2008, Ma Xiuwen was released home after being extorted 1200 yuan.
27. [Zunyi City, Guizhou Province] Ms. Gao Qiying Persecuted and Her Condition is Urgent.
Ms. Gao Qiying from Zunyi City is disabled. Now she is being detained in the Nanbai Detention Center. She has difficulty in walking and she is very weak. Her condition is very urgent.

28. [Wucheng County, Shandong Province] Ms. Yin Shuling Arrested.
At noon on August 6, 2008, the county national security team arrested Ms. Yin Shuling. Now she is being detained in a detention center.
29. [Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Zheng Yingying Arrested.
At 4 pm on July 24, 2008, four personnel from the local police station and the neighboring committee of Chigang Street, Haizhu District went to search the home of Ms. Zheng Yingying and arrested her.
30. [Dashiqiao City, Liaoning Province] In August 2008, Ms. Jiang Sufen from Sandaoling Arrested.
31. [Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Liang Yingju Arrested.
Ms. Liang Yingyu is a retired employee of the Guangzhou Electronic Institute. At 4 pm on July 23, 2008, the local police searched her home and arrested her. Now her whereabouts is unknown.
32. [Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province] Mr. Liu Yuluan Arrested.
At 8 pm on August 5, 2008, police from the Xiadu Road Police Station in Haizhu District went to search the home of Mr. Liu Yuluan and arrested him.
33. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] The Family of Wang Jilin and Han Lifeng Persecuted.
Mr. Wang Jilin and his wife Ms. Han Lifeng, in their 50s, live in Ershilibao, Kuiwen District, Weifang City. At night on April 18, 2007, police searched their home and arrested them. The police also took away computers, printers and Dafa books. The truth-clarifying materials production site in their home was also destroyed. Mr. Wang Jilin is detained in the Wangcun Second Forced Labor Camp. Ms. Han is detained in the Wangcun Women's Forced Labor Camp.
In July 2008, the police secretly arrested Wang Jilin's son Mr. Wang Qianjin who is 27 years old. Now he has been sent to the Wangcun Forced Labor Camp.
34. [Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province] On August 1, 2008, Ms. Su from Lijiang Park Community was Arrested and Her Whereabouts is Unknown.
35. [Aohan City, Inner Mongolia] In August 2008, Ms. Wei Shuchun and Ms. Yang Yulin Arrested by Local Police.
36. [Hulunbeier City, Inner Mongolia] Ms. Hou Baohua Arrested.
At 2 pm on August 5, 2008, director of the Eighth Neighboring Committee of Bayantuohai Town, Ewenkexi Flag, Hulunbeier City, and an official from the 610 Office went to the home of Ms. Hou Baohua and demanded her to attend a brainwashing class. Ms. Hou refused them. At 4 pm on August 6, police from the 610 Office and police department forcibly arrested her.
37. [Deyang City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Xiao Renying Arrested.
On the afternoon of August 2, 2008, personnel from the Yangjia Town 610 Office in Jingyang District, Deyang City broke into Ms. Xiao Renying's home and arrested her. Ms. Xiao was sent to the Guanghan Brainwashing Center for a two-month session.
38. [Shandong Province] Mr. Zhang Daozhong and His wife Ms. Zhang Ping Arrested.
On July 9, 2008, the Weifang City 610 Office and the Developing District Police Department arrested Mr. Zhang Daozhong and his wife Ms. Zhang Ping. On August 6, Mr. Zhang Daozhong was sentenced to one year and nine months' forced labor. He has been sent to the Changle Forced Labor Camp. Ms. Zhang Ping's whereabouts are unknown.
39. [Tianjin City] Additional Information about the Persecution of Ms. Wang Xingchun and Ms. Li Mian
On the morning of August 6, 2008, Ms. Wang Xingchun and Ms. Li Mian were arrested while they were posting truth-clarifying materials near Binjiang Road. On August 7, they were sent to the Dabianzhuang Detention Center in Xiqing District.
40. [Guan County, Shandong Province] On August 5, 2008, Ms. Xiu Lan from Jia Town, Guan County Arrested.
41. [Panshi City, Jilin Province] Information about the Persecution and Harassment of Falun Dafa Practitioners.
On the afternoon of June 21, 2008, Mr. Song Yuzhu (45 years old) and Mr. Zhang Tong (42 years old) from Yantongshan Town, Panshi City were reported while they went to Yima Township to distribute truth-clarifying material. They were arrested by the Yima Township Police Station. The police also searched Mr. Song Yuzhu's home and took away a computer, Dafa books, Teacher's pictures and truth-clarifying material, etc.
At 4 am on July 31, Mr. Wang Yanchun and Mr. Jin Yongli, both of whom are about 40 years old, were arrested. Now they are being detained in the Panshi City Detention Center.
42. [Wucheng, Shandong Province] Mr. Qin Baoli Arrested.
Mr. Qin Baoli lives in Jiangguantun Village, Wucheng. He was arrested on August 3, 2008. Now he is being detained in a detention center.
43. [Wucheng, Shandong Province] Mr. Cui Junchen Deceived and Arrested.
Mr. Cui Junchen's wife Ms. Chen Honghui and daughter Ms. Cui Linyan were arrested. On August 8, 2008, the party secretary of Caotun Village deceived Mr. Cui Junchen's older sister, saying "he promised not to arrest Mr. Cui, and asked her to call Mr. Cui and urge him to go home. On the way home, Mr. Cui was arrested by police. Now he is being detained in the Wucheng County Detention Center.
44. [Qian'an City, Hebei Province] Ms. Wen Cuijuan and Ms. Dai Shuyun Arrested.
Ms. Wen Cuijuan, about 40 years old, lives in Yangdianzi Town, Qian'an City. At 4 pm on July 27, 2008, she was arrested by police of the Yangdianzi Town Police Station.
Ms. Dai Shuyun, 63 years old, lives in Jianchangying Town, Qian'an City. At 9 pm on July 28, 2008, she was arrested by the Qian'an City National Security Team.
45. [Feixi County, Anhui Province] On August 3, 2008, Mr. Wu Donghua, Ms. Chen Liangju and Ms. Wu Sanjie Arrested from Their Homes.
46. [Lanzhou City, Gansu Province] Ms. Zhao Yuhua and Three Other Practitioners Arrested.
Ms. Zhao Yuhua and three other practitioners were reported while they were distributing Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party and clarifying the truth. At 5 pm on August 8, 2008, they were arrested and their homes were searched. Now they are being detained in the Dashaping Detention Center.
47. [Xinxiang County, Henan Province] In August 2008, Mr. Zhu Hao from Maotan Village, Qiliying Town, Xinxiang County Arrested.
48. [Hebei Province] Mr. Ma Liuquan and Mr. Li Zhenping Persecuted.
At night on August 7, 2008, Mr. Ma Liuquan and Mr. Li Zhenping were arrested because they distributed truth-clarifying material. On the afternoon of August 8, 2008, Ma Liuquan's home was searched. The police took away Dafa books, a set of video tapes, a color printer, a CD/DVD burner, etc. Ma Liuquan is being detained in the Baoding Detention Center.
49. [Zhanjiang City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Li Zhendi Arrested.
On the afternoon of July 25, 2008, Ms. Li Zhendi was arrested. Now she is being detained in the Mazhang District First Detention Center in Zhanjiang City.
50. [Changde City, Hunan Province] Mr. Li Haijun and Mr. Chen Keli Arrested.
51. [Changsha City, Hunan Province] Mr. Lao Kang Arrested.
At night on August 7, 2008, Mr. Lao Kang was arrested and his home was searched.
52. [Funing County, Hebei Province] Shimenzhai Police Station Harassed and Arrested Falun Dafa Practitioners.
On August 9, 2008, police from the Shimenzhai Police Station in Funing County broke into Mr. Wang Chongjiu's home. Police searched the home with the excuse that someone had reported him and arrested three members of the family. Mr. Wang Chongjiu was sent to the Liujiang Hospital because he had a heart attack. The others were sent to the Funing County Detention Center.
