(Clearwisdom.net) Today's News from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 19 cities or counties in 13 provinces. In this report, 48 practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention and at least 48 practitioners were illegally arrested.
1. [Tahe County, Jilin Province] Practitioner Arrested
A practitioner from Tahe County, Daxing'anling area was arrested on the evening of January 21, 2010. Details of the arrest are unknown.
2. [Beijing] Crimes Committed by Police from the Domestic Security Division of Fengtai District
At around 7:00 p.m. on July 22, 2009, Mr. Zhang Lei and his wife Ms. Wang Qiuying from Dawayao Village, Fengtai District went to the Oushang Supermarket to distribute truth-clarifying materials and were caught on film by a security camera. Police from the Domestic Security Division of Fengtai District, the Lugouqiao Police Station, and the officials from the local 610 Office, totaling a police force of over thirty people, arrested the couple and ransacked their home. A computer, a printer and other personal belongings were confiscated. Mr. Zhang and Ms. Wang are being detained at the Fengtai Detention Center. Mr. Zhang's father, who is in his seventies, was left at home alone.
3. [Boye County, Hebei Province] Ms. Di Linya Still in Detention
Ms. Di Linya, 64, is a practitioner from Boye County, Hebei Province. On September 23, 2009, she was arrested and detained at the Li County Detention Center. In November 2009, Ms. Di's family hired two lawyers from Beijing to defend her. In December 2009, the Procuratorate returned her case to the Boye County Police Department because of insufficient evidence. Ms. Di has been detained at the Li County Detention Center for 119 days and officials at the detention center have refused family visits.
4. [Rizhao City, Shandong Province] Practitioners Arrested
The Rizhao City 610 Office has secretly arrested several practitioners from Rizhao City, including Mu Zongyan, Hong Meishuang, Wang Yun, Go Xiuhua, Liu Guiqin, Wang Youjian, Liu Hairong, Liu Haizhen, Li Yanting, Ding Yinyu, Mao Dazhi and Yan Dongmei, since January 14, 2010. Hong Meishuang, along with other practitioners, were sent to the Wulian Detention Center. Most of the practitioners' whereabouts are unknown.
Ms. Ding Yinyu's husband, who not a practitioner, was also arrested. Zhuang Li was not at home when the police ransacked it. Practitioner Fan Kaixiang managed to escape but her home was ransacked as well.
5. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] Ms. Sun Jianxia Arrested and 12,000 Yuan Extorted from Her Family for Her Release--She Has Returned Home
6. [Cangzhou City, Hebei Province] Mr. Wang Dewu Arrested
On the morning of January 16, 2010, Mr. Wang Dewu from Cangzhou City was arrested while distributing Falun Gong informational materials in Nanpi County, Hebei Province. At around 4:00 p.m. that same day, police officers from the Yunhe Police Department ransacked his home and confiscated his Falun Dafa books. Mr. Wang is being detained at the Nanpi County Detention Center.
7. [Qingdao City, Shandong Province] Ms. Zhang Yuzhen Harassed Twice
Officers from the Zhengyang Police Station in Chengyang District, Qingdao City recently went to the home of Ms. Zhang Yuzhen twice to harass her. During their first visit, Ms. Zhang refused to let the officers enter her home. When four police officers came a second time, Ms. Zhang clarified the truth to the officers and explained the principles of retribution. A short police officer took pictures and searched the house, while a tall officer wrote down something and tried to force Ms. Zhang to sign it, but she refused. One officer confiscated several copies of Minghui Weekly.
8. [Zhangqiu City, Shandong Province] Ms. Tian Rong and Ms. Tang Arrested
On the afternoon of January 22, 2010, Ms. Tian Rong and Ms. Tan, from Liyuan Village, Shenjing Town, Zhangqiu City, were arrested while distributing Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party booklets. They were detained at the local police station. At around 5:00 p.m. that day, the police broke into Ms. Tian's home and confiscated her Falun Dafa books.
9. [Zibo City, Shandong Province] Several Practitioners Arrested
On December 3, 2009, a female practitioner from Taihei Township, Zichuan District, Zibo City, was arrested while distributing materials at a market.
At around 4:30 a.m. on December 15, 2009, officers from the Chawang Police Station, the Zichuan District Domestic Security Division, the Ezhuang Police Station, and the officials of Ezhuang Village, arrested six practitioners from Ezhuang Township, Zichuang District, Zibo City. They confiscated computers, printers and DVD burners from the practitioners' homes. More than forty police cars were used in the arrest.
10. [Laiyang City, Shandong Province] Ms. Qi Guiying's Whereabouts Unknown
Ms. Qi Guiying is a practitioner from Xujiazhuang Village, Muyudian Town, Laiyang City. On the morning of January 22, 2010, Ms. Qi went to the market and then disappeared. At around 10:00 a.m. that day, four police officers from the Muyudian Town Police Station broke into her home and confiscated pictures of the founder of Falun Gong, along with Falun Dafa books, and other personal belongings. They also arrested Ms. Qi's husband, who is not a practitioner. Details of the incident are still under investigation.
11. [Yongnian County, Hebei Province] Four Practitioners Arrested
On the evening of January 20, 2010, officers from the Yongnian County Domestic Security Division and the Yonghehui Town Police Station, including deputy director Xing Yongjian, arrested Li Tanzhu, Li Fumin, Li Cai'e, and Wang Meilan from Louli Village, Yonghehui Town. The police also confiscated Falun Dafa books, tape players, tapes, and DVDs from the practitioners' home. The four practitioners are being detained at the Yongnian County Detention Center.
12. [Luoyang City, Henan Province] Ms. Liu Lanxiang Arrested
Ms. Liu Lanxiang, who is in her fifties, lives at the Mudan Park area in Luoyang City. On January 21, 2010, her family received a phone call. The caller said only one sentence, "Your mother is at the police department." Details of her arrest are unknown.
13. [Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province] Mr. Li Shaohui from Anhui Province Arrested in Guangzhou City
Mr. Li Shaohui began practicing Falun Gong in late 2008. In October 2009, officers from the Dashi Police Station arrested Mr. Li in Panyu District, Guangzhou City. After two months of detention in the Panyu District Detention Center, he was sentenced to two years of forced labor. He was then sent to the Huadu First Labor Camp. Mr. Li's family was not notified.
Practitioner Ms. Xiao Mei (nickname), who is in her thirties, was forced to leave home to avoid persecution. Ms. Xiao has not been seen since December 6, 2009, when she was in Panyu District, Guangzhou City distributing informational materials. Her whereabouts are unknown.
14. [Gaoling County, Shaanxi Province] Ms. Li Huixia and Ms. Zhao Guifang Arrested
On the afternoon of January 13, 2010, when Ms. Li Huixia and Ms. Zhao Guifang were distributing Shen Yun VCDs in Jinwei Town, they were arrested and their homes were ransacked. Their whereabouts are unknown.
15. [Lanzhou City, Gansu Province] Police from Yintan Road Police Station Harass Practitioner Lu Yuying
Officers from the Yintan Road Police Station in Anning District, Lanzhou City, including Director Wu and Officer Cheng, went to the home of Lu Yuying on January 19, 2010, to harass him and his family. The officers demanded that they move.
16. [Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Yang Liyan Arrested at Her Workplace
Ms. Yang Liyan worked at a real estate company in Guangzhou City. She was known for being hard working both at her job and at home. Ms. Yang lived by the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance and was praised by people around her. On January 18, 2010, Ms. Yang met with a practitioner who had been recently released from detention. On January 19, officers from the Tianhe District Police Department and officials from the 610 Office, arrested Ms. Yang at work and confiscated her computer. The police later ransacked her home and confiscated her home computer, Dafa books and a telephone, etc. Ms Yang has a two-year-old child at home in need of care.
17. [Xiangfan City, Hubei Province] Ms. Chang Meiying and Her Husband Arrested
On the morning of January 10, 2010, while on a train to Gucheng County to visit relatives, Ms. Chang Meiying and her husband explained the facts about Falun Gong to a college student from Xiangfang City. They were reported to the police on the train. The police took them to the police office at the Ankang City train station in Shannxi Province. They managed to escape a few days later however, and the Xiangfang City Railway Bureau Police Department continued to persecute them.
18. [Wanyuan City, Sichuang Province] Several Practitioners Arrested
On the afternoon of January 17, 2010, when five practitioners from Wanyuan City, including Wang Mingying, Wang Pingchang, Zhang Zhenhua, Guo Sanmei, and Wang Yingru, were clarifying the truth in Guanba County, Wanyuan City, the local police arrested them. They are being detained at the Wanyuan City First Detention Center.
19. [Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia] Two Practitioners from Longping Township, Linxi County Arrested
Ms. Liu Changqin, in her fifties, and Ms. Wang, in her forties, are from Longping Township, Linxi County, Chifeng City. On the morning of January 12, 2010, they were arrested in downtown Linxi County. They are being detained at the Linxi Town Detention Center. Details of their arrest are unknown.
20. [Chongqi] Guo Yunqing and Zhu Zancui Arrested
At around 4:00 p.m. on January 15, 2010, when Guo Yunqing and Zhu Zancui from the Changshou District were explaining the facts at a flower shop in the New Century Shopping Center, a student reported them to the authorities and they were arrested. They are being detained at the Changshou District Detention Center.
