(Clearwisdom.net) On March 29, 2010, Shen Yun performed at the Chiayi Performing Arts Center in Minxiong Village, Chiayi County. Many of the audience members were professionals in different aspects of Chinese traditional culture.
Mr. Lee Shunlong, a calligraphist who is also the principal of Chiayi City Sing-An Elementary School, has watched Shen Yun's show twice. He attended the show with his daughter. Mr. Lee was able to give a very descriptive opinion of the show due to his many years of practicing the thousands-of-years-old Chinese art of Calligraphy.
"The dancers presented the dance dramas as though they were performing with their lives. From the total concentration as revealed in their eyes, it can be seen that they are illustrating the profound connotations from the depth of their spirits," said Mr. Lee.
Shen Yun depicts the abuse Falun Gong practitioners suffer in China and Mr. Lee took note of this. "Freedom of belief is for everyone. Everyone wants to pursue freedom from the bottom of his/her heart. This is an issue that everyone needs to deal with seriously. In fact, the spiritual part is what we truly need in education at present. This part can be acquired through the arts." He continued by saying that a performance such as Shen Yun can touch the depth of the spirit and is very suitable for promotion in schools.
Opera Director: 'Shen Yun manifests the quintessence of Chinese culture'
Ms. Chen Jen-Jen is the director-general of Ren-Yo Local Culture and Art Camp. The show presented by Shen Yun enthralled her and was much more impressive than she had expected.
"I think all of the programs are excellent. I like every scene
of the show. The skills and body movements of the male dancers are
marvelous. It is really outstanding. No matter whether we are
talking about dancing skills or dramatic spirit, everything is done
well," she said.
She was especially impressed by the dance drama Wu Song Battles
the Tiger. She said, "If you let the tiger show up on the
platform, there must be someone to play as the tiger. The movements
of the performance would be very difficult. Instead, leaving the
tiger behind the scene, and having Wu Song come in and out of the
scene several times, is a brilliant way--the focus of the drama
stays on Wu Song's body movements."
Ms. Chen really enjoyed the range of the programs. "I think
Flowing Silks is supple and beautiful, while Wu Song
Battles the Tiger is rather powerful and tough. With
multi-dimensional presentations, Shen Yun manifests the
quintessence of Chinese culture," she added.
