(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. He Zhiwei was illegally arrested by 610 Office agents on the morning of April 9, 2009, and has been held at three different brainwashing facilities for more than fourteen months in total. At the Guangzhou Brainwashing Center, she was tied up and suffered verbal abuse.

During this period, she spent time at the Sanshui Brainwashing Center, Zhanjiang Brainwashing Center, and Guangzhou Brainwashing Center. While at the Zhanjiang Brainwashing Center, she was kept in solitary confinement in a small cell with covered windows. The officers blasted loud music into the cell around the clock, depriving her of sleep. A group of thugs forced her to kneel down while they beat her. They struck her head with books, which dislocated the bones in her neck. Her physical condition continued to deteriorate as a result of the abuse, and she began having serious headaches and dizziness.

At the Guangzhou Brainwashing Center, Ms. He continued to do the Falun Gong exercises and shouted phrases protesting the persecution. The center staff told her family that they would "punish" her for this. Ms. He's family was allowed to visit her in May and saw the extent of the abuse she had suffered. Guards tied her hands and legs in the meditation position for five days. They didn't untie her at mealtime, and someone fed her. They didn't untie her even when she needed to use the toilet. Three people carried her and placed her on the toilet. She was not allowed to take a shower, and her body and room became foul-smelling after a while. The staff loudly insulted her, and didn't want to come close because of the smell. They had a monitor that kept track of her.

Ms. He's family asked the staff not to tie her up or treat her poorly. Officer Tian, the individual responsible for persecuting Ms. He, said, "We have tried every other method and could not 'transform' her. This is the only way."

When Ms. He's daughter tried to call her mother, officer Tian told her that Ms. He had violated protocol and was not allowed to answer the phone or be visited by family. Ms. He's daughter asked what kind of protocol she violated. Officer Tian subsequently threatened to detain Ms. He's daughter, and after the phone call did not allow Ms. He's daughter to visit.

The staff once told Ms. He's family over the phone that they were going to charge her because she shouted slogans against the Chinese Communist Party. They also said, "It is absolutely forbidden to practice Falun Gong here. If she persists in practicing, we will not be responsible for anything that happens to her body in the process of the actions carried out by the staff to stop her."

Ms. He's family asked, "When will she be released? If there's no proof that she did anything illegal, she should not continue to be held." Officer Tian said, "We don't have a choice. Go see Wang Guangshan in Zhuhai City. He is the one who is in charge of this."

Ms. He's family called Wang Guangshan several times. Later Wang called them, saying that he went to the Guangzhou Brainwashing Center and put forward three conditions to Ms. He. She could be released once she agreed to the conditions, but Ms. He did not agree to them. Wang also said that he was not the only person who had the final say, and that he needed to discuss the matter with others.
