(Clearwisdom.net) Practitioner Ms. Du Yanrong, 58, from Lanzhou City, is retired from Gansu Province Officers' Bureau. On May 28, 2010, she was telling visitors at Wuquanshan Park and Zoo the facts about Falun Gong and urging them to quit the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and its associated organizations. She was spotted by plainclothes police officer Wang Fang of Yanchanglu Police Station, who gathered a group of national security police officers to arrest her. They first took her to the Yanchanglu Police Station, and then to the Taoshuping Detention Center. After she was detained for 15 days, Wang took her, along with another practitioner, to jail. Ms. Du and the other practitioner, He Jianhua, both showed symptoms of high blood pressure and heart conditions, and thus the jail refused to admit them. Despite Wang trying hard to convince the jail authorities to change their minds, they maintained their position and Wang was forced to drive them back to their homes.

On the evening of June 21, while Ms. Du was telling people facts about Falun Gong and distributing Dafa informational materials, she was again arrested by police officers from Yanchanglu Police Station. They seized her belongings and took her to the Taoshuping Detention Center in Chengguan District of Lanzhou City. Sixteen days later, a family member went to the detention center in the morning, and was told to come back in the afternoon. However, in the afternoon, they were informed that Ms. Du had been sentenced to one year of forced labor and taken to Heping Town Gansu Women’s Forced Labor Camp.

In September 2010, Ms. Du’s brother came to visit her from Beijing. Her brother and her son were only able to see her after her son begged the police.

In mid-October of 2010, after exhaustive efforts, Ms. Du’s family members were allowed to visit her in the forced labor camp. They found that she had become thin and totally out of shape. Her hair was gray, she could not stand well, she trembled constantly, and was mentally confused. During the twenty minutes of their meeting, she kept repeating: “I am doomed. I am guilty. I cannot eat. I had bad dreams. What shall I do?” Later when her family members visited her again, her condition had improved slightly, but she kept quiet.

On January 18, 2011, the forced labor camp authorities called her family members and asked them to come see her. When they arrived, Ms. Du was in bed with a fractured spine. The forced labor camp claimed that she broke her back in a fall.

After going through a lot of hassle, Ms. Du’s family was finally allowed to bring her home on January 20.
