(Clearwisdom.net) In 2010, the Fuzhou City 610 Office continued to lead domestic security divisions, local police stations, detention centers, and courts in implementing the CCP's policy of persecuting Falun Gong. Eleven practitioners in Fuzhou were illegally arrested and six of them were sentenced to jail. Practitioner Zuo Fuzheng has just been arrested.

Falun Gong practitioners began in 2010 to hire lawyers to protect their legal rights. However, 610 Office officials and related organizations such as police branches and courts threatened the detained practitioners or their family members in attempts to prevent them from hiring lawyers. If they did not succeed in coercing practitioners and their families to not seek legal defense, officials would hold a secret trial without notifying the defendant's lawyers or their family members. They even directly interfered with the lawyers doing their routine work such as reviewing the cases or meeting the parties involved with the case.

In fact, hiring a lawyer in a Falun Gong related case is sometimes treated as a crime. From the “Prosecution's Submission” on Mr. Wang Yongjin, the charges against him could be summarized as follows: Because Mr. Wang Yongjin helped Ye Qiaoming hire a lawyer and contacted more than 30 people to attend Ye’s trial, he was indicted.
