(Clearwisdom.net) On January 5, 2011, Ms. Zhao Baoli, a practitioner from Chengde in Hebei Province, was illegally arrested by a group of thugs from the police, the National Security Bureau, and the National Protection Unit, led by officers from the Chengde 610 Office. After the ransacking of their home, Ms. Zhao’s husband, Mr. Li Ming, was also forcibly taken away by Chinese Communist Party (CCP) officers.

Falun Gong Helps One Become a Good Person, Which in China is Grounds for Being Persecuted

Ms. Zhao Baoli, 50, is an employee of the Chengde Electricity Supply Company. She lives in Chengde, Hebei Province. Because of her health problems, Ms. Zhao started practicing Falun Gong in May 1995. The practice brought about great changes in her, both physically and mentally. She became healthy, her family environment improved, and she became a warmhearted person always willing to help others. She was regarded as a very good person. However, the CCP targets such people for persecution for their beliefs. On the evening of June 30, 2007, Ms. Zhao was arrested by a group of people from the Chengde 610 Office, the National Security Bureau, and the police. She was then sent to a forced labor camp for a year and tortured. The situation also brought great hardship to Ms. Zhao’s parents, her husband, and daughter.

Arrested and Home Ransacked While Working the Night Shift

When Ms. Zhao was at work during a night shift on January 5, 2011, she was taken away by a dozen thugs led by Yang Shuzeng, head of the city 610 Office; Liu Sheng, police chief; Yang Jiukui, National Protection Unit head; and deputy head Liu Mingcheng. This group of people did not follow any legal procedure as they arrested Ms. Zhao. They also took away Ms. Zhao’s laptop and her purse with over 2,000 yuan in cash, two cell phones, and three house keys in it. When they got the keys, they were able to get into her home at will. The police still have not returned the confiscated items.

Husband and Daughter Arrested and Their Home Ransacked

Ms. Zhao’s husband, Mr. Li Ming, was at his parents’ home taking care of them that same night. His father was in a long-term coma after suffering a stroke. His mother was also suffering from the aftereffects of a stroke. The police and 610 Office officials had no regard for the safety of Mr. Li’s parents. They asked some people from the electricity company to trick Mr. Li into going to his wife’s work unit. When Mr. Li was near the entrance of the company, some thugs suddenly grabbed him, threw him into a car, and took him to the police department. They then rushed to Mr. Li’s home and tried to break in, but did not succeed. They forced Mr. Li to go home and open the door for them. These thugs brought approximately two dozen people in five or six cars, and ransacked Mr. Li and Ms. Zhao’s home. They took away a large amount of personal property, including two desktop computers, a printer, and a scanner. They also took the couple's bank cards and bank books, which totaled over 210,000 yuan (funds for their daughter’s new apartment after her marriage). They took all the cell phones, chargers, earphones, and digital cameras in the household. Meanwhile, these CCP-hired thugs took Ms. Zhao’s husband to the police bureau and kept him in jail for 24 hours without letting him eat or sleep. They spent the whole night interrogating and threatening him. They prepared a list and forced Mr. Li to sign it without letting him see clearly what was on the list. During his ordeal, Mr. Li was not told that his wife had also been arrested.

The following morning, agents from the Chengde 610 Office also brought the police and people from the National Security Bureau and the National Protection Unit to the Pingquan County Electricity Supply Bureau. From there, they seized Ms. Zhao’s daughter and took her to Chengde, where they interrogated and threatened her. They did not release her until 7:00 p.m.

Mr. Li Ming was allowed to go home on the evening of January 6.

CCP Personnel Frame Mr. Zhao Baoli

On January 8, 2011, a report about the persecution of Mr. Zhao was posted on the Minghui website. Angered by the exposure of their crimes, the CCP personnel again interrogated Mr. Li Ming to find out who had posted the information on the Internet. They repeatedly threatened Mr. Li Ming not to tell anyone about what happened, and forced him to sign paperwork for Ms. Zhao’s arrest and a receipt for the items they had confiscated.

After Ms. Zhao was arrested, the police interrogated her in the basement of the police bureau for two days and nights, but they obtained no “evidence” from her. They then transferred Ms. Zhao to a brainwashing center. After their attempt to “transform” Ms. Zhao failed, they locked her up in the Lao Xiying Detention Center in Shuangfeng Temple, in Chengde. Ms. Zhao’s family demanded the immediate and unconditional release of Ms. Zhao, and demanded that they return all the money and personal property that they had taken from the family. The police refused to release Ms. Zhao, and they had no intention of returning their personal property. They tried to trick Ms. Zhao into signing a fabricated statement of evidence. They told her that they would release her if she signed the paper. The document said that among the items taken by police, there was 90,000 yuan for operational funds and 90 cell phones. Ms. Zhao refused to sign the paper, so the police kept Ms. Zhao in jail for further persecution.

We demand that the police immediately and unconditionally release practitioner Ms. Zhao Baoli, as well as all Falun Gong practitioners who have been illegally arrested and detained.
