(Clearwisdom.net) I started practicing Falun Gong in March of 1998. In 2000, my work unit restructured to a market oriented system, and I became the CEO of the company.

 

Balancing Family and Cultivation

At home I wanted to be a model husband. I volunteered to do all the housework that my wife refused to or was unable to do. Therefore, my wife is quite aware that I am a kind person, even though my spiritual practice is banned by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). 

I try to be tolerant when conflicts arise. My wife is outgoing, short-tempered and has a strong tendency toward self-protection. We sometimes ran into conflicts. I tried to tolerate her outbursts and looked within. If I was in the wrong, I admitted to it and did better the next time such a problem occurred. If it wasn't my fault, I remained silent. 

My wife loves shopping and often drags me along. I am usually very busy with my work, thus have little time for studying the Fa, practicing the exercises, sending forth righteous thoughts and making informational materials that clarify the truth about Falun Gong. Shopping with my wife interfered with my talking to people about Falun Gong. Yet, she became upset if I refused to come along. It was a dilemma. Teacher told us, "maximally adjust to the condition of ordinary people’s society in your cultivation"("Teaching the Fa at the Western U.S. Fa Conference") After thinking about the issue, I discussed the issue with my wife and we came to an agreement. She would shop for ordinary items by herself. For essential items, if she was unsure, she would shop around and I would make the decision. This way, I gained a lot of time for validating Falun Dafa. 

During a gathering with my wife's family, her uncle told me, "You are the kindest person in the entire city." At the beginning of the persecution, my wife objected to my practicing Falun Gong. Now, she understands and supports me.

Validating Dafa at My Workplace

At the beginning of the persecution, the CCP's propaganda machine had poisoned the minds of many people against Falun Dafa. The CCP ordered all government organizations, enterprises and institutions to study propaganda that attacked and slandered Falun Gong. I refused to organize such meetings and minimized the CCP's influence on my employees. I kept on file all persecution documents for later evidence against the CCP. 

I learned from the Clearwisdom website that practitioners in Hong Kong clarified the facts about Falun Gong very well. I arranged for my employees to tour Hong Kong, so they could listen to people speaking well about Falun Dafa. I requested and received approval for this trip from higher authorities. All our employees traveled to Hong Kong. At tourist sites, they were greeted by Falun Gong practitioners and read the publications that clarified the facts about Falun Gong. They were deeply shocked when they learned that practicing Falun Gong was legal in Hong Kong. When they returned to Mainland China, they told everyone what they had seen and experienced in Hong Kong, making a positive impact for Falun Gong. 

In November of 2004, the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party were published. I asked colleagues who were responsible for copying to make many copies and distribute them to all employees. Besides, I also gave copies to officials and friends at higher levels. 

Falun Dafa teaches its practitioners to be of good character by following the principles Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. Practitioners need to put others first, look inward when encountering conflicts, avoid harming others and always think how others would be affected by ones action. To stop the down slide of morality in my company, I promoted the spirit of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. During conferences, I encouraged workers to be of good moral character, to always consider others first, take good quality service as priority, be friendly to people who do business with us, be patient and provide solutions for customers. 

In year-end evaluations, I took morality, family harmony, hospitality, honesty, and so on into consideration. These factors determined the salary and promotions for the coming year. Thus, all employees began to pay attention to morality and strove to become exemplary workers. I made it known that for getting a promotion, the first requirement was being of high morals. Secondly, working hard and doing a good job was part of the equation for a promotion. 

I have used the above factors for many years and it worked very well. The promoted officials are good examples. Our company has been operating for ten years. No one left the company. Everyone feels that our environment is relaxing and friendly. Officials are righteous and the environment is harmonious. 

Most employees in our company are young people. Because of lack of experience, they inevitably make some mistakes. Some team leaders became very angry and chastised them. During a meeting with team leaders, I told them that everyone makes mistakes, and that we need to be tolerant. When we criticize someone, our goal is for his own benefit and improvement, not for punishing him. Hence, we truly educate him so that he will not make the same mistake again. There is one veteran worker who made a serious mistake. He was once punished by the Inspection and Supervision Department. I helped him correct his mistake, find the cause, and made sure that he would not repeat it in the future. During the Chinese New Year, he sent me a short message, indicating that I was the best person he ever met. 

I have been practicing Falun Dafa for twelve years. While cultivating, upgrading my xinxing and becoming a better person, I made sure that my work environment mirrored a righteous path and that everyone did his or her job well. Despite strong competition, our company keeps growing and our economic outlook is improving. We gained a good reputation. We won over ten awards and ranked the best in our industrial sector. 

I shared my experience because I want fellow practitioners to see that one can cultivate in every profession and walk firmly on one's cultivation path. It doesn't matter what level a practitioner holds in society and what type of work he has, he is always a good person who benefits others and society.
