Supernatural Effect in Curing Illness
I am a resurrected cadre, retired from the army for 27 years, and am now 77 years old. I had many illnesses before I practiced Falun Gong. I sought treatment in the most famous big hospitals nationwide and spent lots of money but couldn't find a cure. I had to carry first-aid medicine with me all the time.
In June 1996, I was on the edge of death, when a good-hearted doctor (a Falun Gong practitioner) gave me the book Zhuan Falun. When I saw Teacher's picture and finished reading Lunyu, I burst into tears of excitement and said, “This is a great deity!” Henceforth, I was fortunate to have this great Fa, which is so difficult to encounter. Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is imprinted in my mind, and my faith in Teacher and Dafa is rock-solid. I studied the Fa and transcribed Zhuan Falun everyday. While I was transcribing Zhuan Falun the fourth time, my many ailments went away and left my body relaxed, ending my years of suffering.
When I study the Fa, I often burst into tears and pledge to Teacher: I am your genuine disciple, I must forever believe in Teacher, believe in Dafa, strictly conduct myself according to Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, “consider others first, so as to attain the righteous Enlightenment of selflessness and altruism.” (“Non-Omission in Buddha-Nature” of Essentials for Further Advancement), and go home with Teacher.
Righteous Thoughts Show Invincible Power
On March 12, 2000, an elderly practitioner and I went to the Beijing Appeals Office and asked them to deliver our letters to Jiang Zemin. I wrote on the registration form: “Falun Gong is a righteous and superior science.”
I lawfully appealed, but was taken to the local detention center by Jiang's regime and its lackeys. When I was ordered to sign the detention form, I crossed out “Disturbing social order” and wrote: “It is illegal to detain us. “ Then I said, “The national constitution says every citizen has the right to appeal and freedom of belief. As a retired cadre, I want to tell the national leader the truth of the situation: Falun Gong is a righteous and superior science. It practices Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, teaches people to be good people, cures illnesses, and helps maintain fitness. My personal experience is ironclad proof—Teacher gave me a second life. You are violating the law by detaining us.” The manager said, “We have no choice. It is an order from a higher authority.” I was detained for 15 days.
After 17 practitioners were arrested when they were sharing experiences because a practitioner' son reported them, one of the arrested practitioners reported me. On the night of the 25th, police ransacked my home and took me to the police station. Several leaders used persuasion and threats on me for over ten hours, but I was not moved, so they sent me to the detention center. The following day, an officer with the political security section of the Public Security Bureau “interrogated” me, threatened me with every possible method, and accused me of actively contacting and connecting people. He said that the provincial public security department had sent staff down and that practitioners who refused to write the guarantee statement would all face sentencing.
I told him, “My life is a gift from Teacher, I will not change even if I die. Your words do not count; my Teacher decides everything. One instance of justice can overpower a hundred evils. Falun Gong is the universal law of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. It teaches people to be good, cures diseases, and keeps a person fit. What is wrong with that? It is a heavenly truth that good is rewarded and evil receives retribution, so those who persecute Falun Gong will surely receive retribution.” He saw that I was adamant, so he said he was going to put me in a detention center. I laughed, “I have been in detention centers twice already, so I do not mind one more time.” I was fearless and refused to sign.
By then the daughter-in-law of an old friend saw me in the office. She said, “You were so sick several years ago—how come you are so well now?” I replied, “I practice Falun Gong.” She asked, “Can you show me?” I instantly sat on the ground, crossed both legs, and did the fifth exercise. Over ten guards and staff watched me doing the exercise. Then I saw a chief and said, “We went to Beijing together for treatment several years ago. I could not get to Dr. Liang on the 2nd level, and you and your wife had to help me upstairs. I am now practicing Falun Gong, and over ten diseases disappeared. Don't you think that it is unjust that such a good practice is suppressed?” One person said, “So the chief is a witness.” The chief quietly approved. Teacher's mighty power and Dafa's power frightened the evil, powerfully validated and promoted Dafa, and allowed people in the room to understand the truth.
I did not cooperate with any of the orders in the detention center, was released in 40 days under Teacher's protection, and immediately publicized the persecution that I had endured. I printed many copies and posted them to the relevant departments in the city and province, relatives and friends, and everyday people.
Explaining the Truth to People Who Came to “Brainwash” Me
On April 24, 2001, staff from the public security bureau and politics and law committee, the 610 Office head, and my workplace cadre came to my home with the intention of sending me to a brainwashing center. I said, “Do you want me to tell the truth or lie?” They answered, “We want the truth.” I replied, “I practice Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. Falun Gong is a righteous law, it teaches people to be good, and it has supernatural effects in curing illness and keeping fit. I am a lucky beneficiary, who came back from the edge of death. My life is a gift from Teacher, and I won't change my determination to practice Dafa.” I explained the facts to them, from the “April 25” appeal and the staged “Self-immolation” fraud to the lies and propaganda created by Jiang's regime that framed and slandered Teacher and Falun Gong practitioners. I also told them that Teacher began to teach Falun Gong in public in 1992 and was awarded the “Interdisciplinary Science Progress Prize,” the only and highest honor at the 1993 Oriental Health Expo, as well as how widely Falun Gong has been embraced around the world.
Finally I said, “You are also the victims. You keep tracing Falun Gong practitioners who appeal, detain them in order to keep your jobs, and do 'brainwashing duty' over and over. Those who can't complete the task are criticized and punished, and those who make efforts to persecute practitioners are rewarded and promoted. Those who persecute will suffer retribution, so isn't that suffering? Good and bad reap their own rewards, so good people who support Dafa will certainly be rewarded.”
They did not write a word on their notepads until they had left, nor did they tell me to go to the brainwashing center and stop practicing. When I walked them out, I said, “I suggest to you sincerely that you keep firmly in mind that doing bad incurs retribution. Do more good deeds and you will get rewards. Do not work yourself to death for the evil, and think of your descendants!” My workplace cadre was the last to leave. He said, “You spoke really well! Really well! We promise that we won't send you to the brainwashing center!” I replied, “It was not that I spoke well, but that Falun Gong is good, my Teacher has great virtue, and Dafa is powerful.”
One night in July 2002, at 10:00 p.m., local police came to arrest me. Some of them jumped into my courtyard and said, “Get up. We're going to the police station.” I refused. The director said, “Then we will carry you there.” I loudly replied, “The director won't be able to move me.” Due to my righteous thoughts, they did not touch me. They left two people to watch me. I thought they were sent by Teacher to be saved, so I explained the truth to them. They both kept nodding and said, “We've known for a while that Falun Gong is good, that you are good people.” The younger brother of our instructor practices Falun Gong, and we believe what you have said. Many of our colleagues dislike arresting you people. The director was outside of your gate a moment ago. When you told him to come carry you, he instead walked away, like he was afraid of you.” Teacher has helped me to stay out of danger and pass the test in every ordeal. The day just shone, and the manager came to ask them to leave. The two police officers are now very polite to me and respect me a lot. Since then, nobody has come to harass me.
In September 2003, we entertained more than 20 tables of visitors at my maternal home. I attended with over 100 pieces of truth-clarification materials. I explained the facts about Falun Gong to the guests and distributed the materials. I had no fear. One rascal said, “If you keep talking, I'll send you to the police station.” I immediately sent righteous thoughts to eliminate the evil behind him, and he quickly ran away in fear. I continued to explain the truth and distributed all the materials.
To summarize my greatest enlightenments in my over ten years practice: Believe in Teacher; believe in Dafa; be persistent; keep righteous thoughts and act righteously at all times; firmly believe Teacher is beside me, protecting me and giving me hints and helping me to pass tests, one after another. I have indeed realized from my innermost self: “Cultivation depends on one’s own efforts, while the transformation of gong is done by one’s master.” (Zhuan Falun)
