(Clearwisdom.net) On October 23 2011, several Falun Gong practitioners were arrested in the Changping District, Beijing. Niu Xiaobiao and others from the Dongxiaokou Police Station in Changping Public Security Division illegally broke into Room 502 in Building 20, located in the Second District of Tiantong Yuanxi. They were not dressed in police uniforms and appeared to be burglars. The police arrested the owner of the apartment, Song Zhao, the assistant to the CEO of a foreign company (English-Chinese translator); Feng Qingdong, 30, the Chinese-Japanese translator in the Thomson Reuters Corp.; and their friends Yao Yuanying, 26, a Ph.D candidate at Beijing Normal University and artist Sun Lixin, 37. They were taken to the Changping District Detention Center.

Other practitioners that were arrested at the same time were Chang Chunyu, 37; Li Ziming from the Zhangjiakou area; Guo Longbin from Heilongjiang Province; and a practitioner from Shandong Province. They have been held for more than one month simply because they practice Falun Gong and live by the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.

Their families demanded an explanation from Liu Gang, the director of the National Security Team in the Changping Public Security Bureau. Liu was unable to provide a reasonable response. He pulled one of the practitioners' parents aside and said, “They are safe. You can go home.” When asked when the practitioners would be released, he said that that would depend on their “attitude,” suggesting that they had to renounce Falun Gong before they would be released. It has been 35 days since the three practitioners were arrested. So far, family visits and retaining an attorney are not allowed. In addition, attorneys in Beijing were threatened that if they accepted a Falun Gong practitioner as a client, his or her license would be revoked and he or she may also be sentenced to forced labor.

The practitioners were transferred to the Changping Detention Center, but they have not been charged with any criminal or other offense.

After arresting these innocent citizens, the police didn't notify their families or work units. No one knew where they were, and their work was disrupted as a result. Only after the families and employers inquired about them through various channels did they find out on October 26 that they had been arrested.
