(Minghui.org) Ms. Xu Ying, a school teacher from Hailin City, Heilongjiang Province was illegally arrested on November 24, 2014, for practicing Falun Gong. After a brief interrogation at the local police station, she was taken to the Mudanjiang Detention Center.
About seven officers from the Hailin Domestic Security Division ransacked her home and confiscated a laptop computer and more than 2,000 yuan.
Ms. Xu was handcuffed, shackled, and chained to the floor in a fixed position at the detention center. She went on a hunger strike to protest the illegal detention and mistreatment. Her family has hired a defense lawyer to file complaints at the local procuratorate against the police and detention center guards.
Previous Arrests
Ms. Xu is a teacher at the Zirong Elementary School in Hailin City. She started practicing Falun Gong after the Communist regime launched the persecution in 1999 and has been targeted by the local authorities ever since.
Ms. Xu was arrested on March 17, 2014, and forced to undergo brainwashing at the Qiqihar Brainwashing Center. She was threatened, physically and mentally abused, and forced to watch propaganda slandering Falun Gong.
She was sentenced to a one-and-half-year forced labor term for practicing Falun Gong in 2012. Police officers Ding Yuhua, Jin Haizhu, and Wang Wei from the Hailin Domestic Security Division arrested her on August 14, 2012, and confiscated two computers and two cellphones. She was sentenced and held in the Qianjin Forced Labor Camp in Harbin City.
Ms. Xu was verbally abused, beaten, deprived of sleep, and subjected to torture methods such as the iron chair at the forced labor camp. Because she consistently protested her detention, which was a violation of existing Chinese law, she was released on August 17, 2013.
