(Minghui.org) The recent wave of lawsuits against former Chinese Communist Party head Jiang Zemin is being led by Falun Gong practitioners from all walks of life, including high ranking officials.

Mr. Chen Xuesheng, a former deputy chief of Henan's Provincial Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision, filed a complaint against Jiang on June 13, 2015. His position was under the direct supervision of the Chinese Communist Party's Provincial Committee (CPCPC) of Henan Province.

Because of his important position, Henan CPCPC officials were afraid to make it public that he was a Falun Gong practitioner, so they fabricated a charge of bribery against him and sentenced him to six years in prison.

Mr. Chen had always been an upright official. He treated others fairly and was strict about his own behavior. He was given the coveted national model employee award for quality and technical supervision in 1998.

Mr. Chen had numerous health problems including heart disease, high blood pressure, hypertension, and stomach pain. After he started to practice Falun Gong in June of 1995, all of his ailments were cured.

Someone at his workplace reported Mr. Chen as a Falun Gong practitioner in 2006. A group from the Henan Provincial Commission for Discipline Inspection was charged with investigating him for bribery in November of that year. However, the group failed to garner any evidence of Mr. Chen taking bribes or committing any other wrongdoing.

Despite lacking any evidence, the Jinshui District Court went ahead and tried Mr. Chen in April and May of 2007. Mr. Chen defended himself, but was warned by agents of the Discipline Inspection Commission that he would be sentenced to prison no matter what. The Henan CPCPC had already decided his fate.

Mr. Chen knew that China's legal system was just a rubber stamp for the communist party, and had no option but to plea bargain a guilty plea in exchange for a lighter sentence. In July of 2007 he was given a six-year sentence for bribery.

Mr. Chen’s lawsuit accused Jiang of knowingly bringing false charges against him. He demanded compensation for his suffering.

Background

In 1999, Jiang Zemin, as head of the Chinese Communist Party, overrode other Politburo standing committee members and launched the violent suppression of Falun Gong.

The persecution has led to the deaths of many Falun Gong practitioners in the past 16 years. More have been tortured for their belief and even killed for their organs. Jiang Zemin is directly responsible for the inception and continuation of the brutal persecution.

Under his personal direction, the Chinese Communist Party established an extralegal security organ, the “610 Office,” on June 10, 1999. The organization overrides police forces and the judicial system in carrying out Jiang's directive regarding Falun Gong: to ruin their reputations, cut off their financial resources, and destroy them physically.

Chinese law allows for citizens to be plaintiffs in criminal cases, and many practitioners are now exercising that right to file criminal complaints against the former dictator.
