(Minghui.org) It was recently confirmed by Minghui.org that a Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province, resident was sentenced to one year with a 10,000-yuan fine in December 2023 for practicing Falun Gong, a mind-body discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Zhang Xiuqin was arrested on April 27, 2022, while talking to people about Falun Gong. The arresting officers from the Honggang Police Station released her on bail and later submitted her case to the High-tech Development Zone District Procuratorate. She was indicted by prosecutor Pan Yunlong on October 8, 2023.
Ms. Zhang appeared in the High-tech Development Zone District Court in December 2023 and was convicted by the presiding judge, Yu Tao, as well as judges Xu Qiumei and Yang Zhaorui. Court clerk Zhang Jin was also present at her trial.
Ms. Zhang appealed with the Daqing City Intermediate Court. The presiding judge Jiang Zhaofeng, and judges Zhang Dan and He Mengshu ruled to uphold her original verdict. The judge’s assistant Li Huanan and clerk Xu Man also signed the ruling.
Ms. Zhang is still held at the Daqing City Detention Center at the time of writing.
