Toward a Bright Future Toronto Practitioners Celebrate Peace and Compassion Day
The celebration of Peace and Compassion Day was solemnly held on November 03,
2001 at Nathan Philips Square in Toronto. It was the second grand event attended
by Toronto citizens from many professions and walks of life along with
various organizations, and community groups in half year since the Truth-Compassion-Tolerance
Day in May.
Balloons, highly flying vertical banners, music, 300 pinwheels on a green
lawn and 300 paper cranes decorated the Nathan Philips Square.
More than 100 exhibition boards part of the Road to Fa Rectification
showed people the spreading of Dafa in China and the brutal persecution by the
evil in China, as well as wholehearted support from the people and governments
around the world.
Many students from elementary schools, high schools, colleges and
universities participated in a writing contest. They were asked to write about
what they could do to contribute to a better world through their own commitments
to principles and virtues, The President of the Canadian Writers Association was
invited to be the judge for this contest.
At 1:30 p.m. the celebration reached its climax. Practitioners participating
in the 4000 mile SOS! Global RescueWalk across Canada read support letters they
received along their routes from the city governments they passed. Then MPs and
representatives of non-governmental organizations gave speeches to voice their
support to Falun Dafa and to condemn the evil. Amid Dafa music dozens of doves
flew into the sky.
Then a new song "Ru Meng Ling" just published on Minghui net
brought the participants an unforgettable moment.
The celebration concluded with a group singing of "Ru Meng Ling."
