Falun Dafa practitioner Li Jianhou, 67 years old, was a resident of Nanchong City, Sichuan Province. He was illegally sentenced to three years in prison in 2002, and in January 2003 he was held in the Deyang Prison. Mr. Li was tortured to death on March 27, 2003. Before his prison sentence, he had been detained in a forced labor camp because of firmly cultivating Falun Dafa. Whether in the forced labor camp, the detention center, or in prison, Li Jianhou maintained his solid belief in Dafa and never wavered in his faith, no matter what kind of tortures he endured. Falun Dafa practitioner Xu Yukai, 52 years old, is a resident of the Third Group, Xinyi Village, Taiping Town, Gulin County, Sichuan Province. Because of firmly cultivating Falun Gong, he had been arrested illegally by the police eight times from 1999 to 2000. He was forced to pay "fines" in April 2000. Because his family had no money, the director of the local police station, Xu Yongzhong, along with members of the Political and Judiciary Committee, stormed into his house with a gang of more than 10 persons. They forcibly took away several hundred Jin of grain that was all the family had [one Jin is equal to 500 grams]. Mr. Xu's elderly mother, in her 80s, tried to stop them and was pushed away by Xu Yongzhong. In December 2000, because Xu Yukai refused to give up cultivation, the local police tried to extort money from the family again. When Mr. Xu kindly told them not to behave in such a manner, the police did not listen but arrested him and seized the family farm cow. The police threatened that they would rather break up his family and make people die. In detention, the police encouraged the common prisoners to beat Mr. Xu. In July 2001, Xu Yukai was locked in the No. 2 Prison in the Deyang City Penitentiary. In August 2001, police officer Qiu Shen directed prisoner Wang Dugang to torture Mr. Xu with the "Standing Against The Wall" [in this torture, a person is forced to stand with their body at a 45 degree angle, the feet a distance away from the wall, forehead touching the wall ),] as well as another painful body position called "Riding Motorcycles." In addition, Mr. Xu was forced to hold a heavy stack of bricks, with two other prisoners assisting in the torture and beating him. In August 2002, policeman Qiu Shen tried to force Mr. Xu to curse Master Li, but he refused. Then Qiu Shen ordered prisoner Zhang Shulin to strike Mr. Xu hard on the chest.

Falun Dafa practitioner Huang Daiyou, 54 years old, is a resident of Shatian No. 2 Commune, Songlin Town, Guanghan County, Sichuan Province. He started practicing Falun Dafa in 1998. On July 21, 2001 he was arrested because of handing out Falun Dafa truth-clarification materials. The police handcuffed Mr. Huang and hung him from a transom over the door. He was beaten and interrogated on July 22, 2001, and was force-fed with water. In the detention center, because he refused to give up his faith in Falun Dafa, Mr. Huang was tied onto a bed and tortured. In August 2002 he was locked up in the Deyang Penitentiary, where he was immediately placed in the "Strict Control" unit. On the second evening in "Strict Control" the police directed four prisoners to take turns beating Mr. Huang, and they tortured him with the "Standing against The Wall." The police officer said, "If you beat him to death, we'll just cremate him." Three days later, Huang Daiyou was taken to a brainwashing class, where the police continued to torture him using all sorts of means.

Falun Dafa practitioner Xu Changzheng is a resident of Jianyang City, Sichuan Province. He began practicing Falun Dafa in 1995. After April 25, 1999, the police took him for interrogation without providing any legal documents for his arrest. Since May of 1999 the police deprived Mr. Xu of his right to join group Falun Gong exercises. Beginning at midnight of July 20, 1999, lawless officials blocked Mr. Xu in his home and kept him under close surveillance. They tried to brainwash Mr. Xu up until the end of 1999. In February 2000, during the Chinese New Year, Xu Changzheng went to visit his sister in Liuzhou City, Guangxi Province. He was arrested and held in the detention center, where he went on a hunger strike for five days to protest the illegal persecution. He was locked in the Kunming City No. 2 Detention Center on April 15, 2000, and went on a hunger strike for nine days after being brutally beaten by police officers and prisoners. He had been threatened and forced to wear handcuffs and ankle shackles while in detention. The police force-fed him during his hunger strike and left the rubber force-feeding tube in his stomach for 24 hours. In February 2001, in order to protest the government's fabricated "self-immolation" incident and to request justice from the government, Xu Changzheng went on a hunger strike for six days. Instead of giving him medical care, the police tied him onto a torture bed. On February 25, 2001, Mr. Xu was sent to the Deyang Penitentiary. Upon arrival, he was put in the "Strict Control" unit, where he was beaten many times by prisoners Yang Guangchuan and Wu Banghong, under the encouragement of Police Director Qiu Shen. In less than two weeks, Mr. Xu was transferred to the No. 5 Prison. From June to August, he was beaten by prisoner Wang Xinhua and others from the No. 5 Prison, and he was forced to work all night without sleep. He was later transferred to the No. 6 Prison, where he was tortured for a whole month because he was found studying the Fa. In 2002, Mr. Xu was transferred to the No. 2 Prison because he refused to call himself a "criminal." He was locked in isolation and forced to wear handcuffs and ankle shackles. Police officers Xu and Tu beat him with police batons. Five days later, the police sent him to "Strict Control" to be tortured again.

Falun Dafa practitioner Gao Hai, 30 years old, is a resident of Linshui County, Sichuan Province. He began practicing Falun Dafa in 2000. He was arrested in 2001 because of handing out truth clarifying materials. In the middle of May 2001, police officer Li Jiliang, Station Director Shi Daoming, and police officer Du Jianmin, illegally interrogated Gao Hai in Lijiatuo, Chongqing City. They cursed, beat, and threatened Mr. Gao, and also tried to extort money from him. Li Jiliang said to Mr. Gao, "If you want to be let out early, just bring some money. Otherwise, I want you to have permanent marks on your body." They stuffed Mr. Gao's mouth with a towel so he could not make any sound, and then beat him brutally for eight hours. The police used cigarette butts to burn his face and neck, handcuffed him backwards, and did not allow him to eat. Mr. Gao was wounded all over his body and lost control of his bladder and bowels. In March 2002, Gao Hai was sentenced to three years in prison. Because he refused to call himself a "criminal" in the Deyang Penitentiary, prisoner Yang Longkai beat him cruelly on three occasions. Mr. Gao once requested a rest after being under the baking sun with his feet swollen from torture, but the police only cursed him. In the brainwashing class in July 2002, the police took him out in the middle of the night. Team leader Liu from the Penitentiary Political Office beat him up. Discipline Committee member Huang Tao ordered Gao Hai to stand in a dark room, and tried to threaten him into giving up Falun Dafa.

Falun Dafa practitioner Cao Jixian, 33 years old, is a resident of Linshui County, Sichuan Province. He had been given the secondary merit award for exemplary service during the flooding of 1998. Mr. Cao began practicing Falun Dafa in 2000. He was arrested in May, 2001 because of handing out truth clarifying materials. Mr. Cao went through countless tortures and still has scars all over his body. He was locked in the Deyang Penitentiary on August 30, 2002. Because he refused to call himself a "criminal," he had been put in the "Strict Control" unit upon arriving at the Penitentiary, where he was beaten many times. Normally, people would not be allowed to be in "Strict Control" for more than three months, but Mr. Cao has been there since August 30 of last year until now. Mr. Cao's family all cultivate in Falun Dafa. His father, Cao Zurong, is 70 years old. He had been sentenced to three years in prison but is presently out on parole. His mother, Tang Sulan, had been illegally sentenced to four years in prison for handing out truth clarifying materials. She is locked in the Jianyang Women's Penitentiary in Sichuan Province. His sister, Cao Xueqin, is also in detention. His brother-in-law, Zhang Ji'an, has been forced to become homeless and destitute in order to avoid being illegally arrested at home. His brother, Cao Ping, had been severely beaten and disabled because of handing out truth clarifying materials. His arm and leg were both fractured, and he is still locked in the No. 6 Prison of Deyang Penitentiary. There are four young children at home being taking care of by the elderly Cao Zurong, and they are all living under very difficult conditions.

Falun Dafa practitioner Zhong Taixing, 66 years old, is a resident of the Yangming No. 8 Commune, Yunlong Township, Jianyang City, Sichuan Province. He began practicing Falun Dafa in June 1999. He was arrested in 2002 for posting Dafa truth clarification materials. The police searched his home on March 27, 2002. Since September 18, 2002, Mr. Zhong has been held in the Deyang Penitentiary.

Deng Xiaoming, 37 years old, a college graduate, is a teacher in the Huayang Middle School in Shuangliu. He began practicing Falun Dafa in 1996. The police illegally censored his private mail, and found him writing letters to his fellow practitioners. They stormed his home on June 27, 2000, forcibly taking away his Falun Dafa posters, and several other materials. He was arrested and detained for fifteen days. On July 10, 2000, the police forced his family to pay 2,000 Yuan [4 months average monthly pay for an urban worker] in order to release him. However, Mr. Deng has been closely watched at home, and is not allowed to leave at all. Furthermore, until August 30 2000, he was forced to pay whomever was watching him. On November 16, 2001, Deng Xiaoming was abducted and taken to the Deyang Penitentiary. In June of 2002, Deng Xiaoming, together with Falun Dafa practitioners Chen Kaixiang and Zhong Qiru, was forced to undergo attempted brainwashing in a small isolation cell for half a month under the control of six prisoners. They had been beaten, cursed, and tortured with sleep deprivation. From July 5 to August 30, 2002, Deng Xiaoming was locked in another brainwashing class, where he went through numerous inhuman tortures.
