Additional Information on the Persecution of Dafa Practitioner Yu Huayan from Fushun City, Xinbin County

(Clearwisdom.net) On March 24, 2003, we reported on the persecution suffered by Dafa practitioner Yu Huayan in a detention center in Pingdingshan Town, Xinbin County, Fushun City, Liaoning Province. (http://www.clearwisdom.net/emh/articles/2003/3/24/33693.html) Now we are supplementing our previous report with some additional facts. This is more concrete evidence of authorities persecuting Dafa practitioners. The writer who gave the following account was detained the same time as Yu Huayan.

In October 1999, Yu Huayan, who was working in Shenyang City, heard that followers of the policies of Jiang's regime were conducting a campaign to defame Falun Gong. Thus he went to the provincial government to appeal for justice for Falun Gong. He was illegally detained for several days and later sent back to the county detention center near his hometown. Later, Yu went to the provincial government to appeal again. He was arrested and locked in a prison cell with the most vicious criminals. The authorities directed the criminals to brutally beat and torture Yu. The torture methods they used were both numerous and cruel. For example, they practiced boxing on him with their fists punching his head in rapid succession, and then they made Yu crawl like a dog on the floor while the criminals kicked his lower back and ribs with their boots. They tortured Yu by using a cruel torture method known as, "stopping a vehicle through braking." During this torture method the person is forced to stand over a foot away from a wall while bending his body over in half with the back of his head facing the wall. When the person is suddenly violently kicked from behind the result is that his head slams into the wall. Being tortured this way causes injuries ranging from dizziness to even incurring a cerebral concussion. This form of kicking torture typically is repeated over and over for more than one hour at a time. The criminals, under order of the detention guards tortured Yu by subjecting him to these kicking sessions on numerous occasions. After prolonged periods of this torture, the top of Yu's skull displayed three deep bloody cracks due from the force of having his skull continuously slammed against the wall. Yu suffered from a severe cerebral concussion and then he suffered mental breakdown as a result of being so horrifically tortured. In order to escape responsibility for Yu's physical and mental injuries, Qu Xiufeng, the detention center chief, created a lie to cover him crime by telling people, "Yu is a good person, we also treat him quite well. It's a pity that he went insane after practicing Falun Gong and banged his own head against the heater." After committing such awful crimes against Falun Gong practitioners, the authorities shamelessly fabricate lies to cover up the truth of their involvement.

After Yu returned home, he kept crying and laughing hysterically as a result of being severely traumatized while in detention. He could not recover from the torture even after being sent for legitimate treatment in hospitals and mental hospitals in other provinces. He lost the ability to work and live like a normal person. His wife tried to divorce with him and his family situation has deteriorated severely. An intelligent and healthy young man who was amiable, optimistic, and lived his life by the principle of Truth, Compassion, Tolerance had his life destroyed.

Qu Xiufeng, the detention center chief, was later transferred from his post.
