Suggestions for How to Write Experience-Sharing Articles
Written by a practitioner in the U.S.
(Clearwisdom.net) Falun Dafa practitioners write
"experience-sharing articles" to share their cultivation experiences with each
other. Though some non-practitioners and even perpetrators of the persecution
also read them, the primary audience is practitioners. The style differs from
articles that are written for the general public, such as descriptive or
narrative articles. In writing for the public, we focus on facts, events and the
underlying principles. In experience sharing articles, we focus on our
understandings of Fa principles and on improving our understandings and our
Xinxing (mind-nature; character) in the face of conflicts and
tribulations. In this way, we can learn from each other regarding how to study
the Fa better and how to improve our Xinxing. Members of the general public can learn why we do things as
we do, which is a matter of our cultivation. They can begin to understand what
kind of people we are, our purpose for doing things, and the benefits that our
cultivation can bring to others. Some practitioners feel it's easy to write about things
they've done. As a result, their articles read like work reports or like our
materials for clarifying the facts. Some practitioners write experience-sharing
articles as if they are "shouting slogans." These kinds of articles cannot
contribute to sharing cultivation experiences. As many practitioners have felt, writing experience-sharing
articles is a process of rational thinking, cultivation, and self-improvement.
Even if initially our thoughts were wrong, not very rational, or not pure
enough, this is an opportunity for us to reflect, to see how much improvement we
have made in our thinking and actions after a period of Fa study and truth
clarification, and to learn from our shortcomings and failures. We can also
share some specific examples. Such experience-sharing articles can play a good
role in our cultivation. No matter what you have done, when you write an
experience-sharing article, you should not talk only about the specific things
that you have done and neglect cultivation and improvement. The above is just my personal understanding and is for your
reference only.
