(Clearwisdom.net) Zhangjiakou City "School of Legal System" (Brainwashing
Center) is located in Yangtai Village, Xihezi Town, Xuanhua District,
Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province. It is a prison where Falun Dafa practitioners
are brutally tortured and brainwashed. The "610 Office"(1), the Committee of
Politics and Law, and the Police Department directly assist in managing it.
Electric wire nets can be seen on top of the walls around the building and
cameras are installed inside to monitor people. Dafa practitioners from
Zhangjiakou City and the surrounding counties who persist in their belief are
detained here. Guards in the brainwashing center watch Dafa practitioners
around the clock. Even when Dafa practitioners go to the toilet, have meals, or
carry water, they are monitored and accompanied. Dafa practitioners are not
allowed to leave and do not have any bit of personal freedom. Here, Dafa
practitioners may be illegally detained indefinitely.
Dafa practitioners are detained in cells separately and cannot contact each
other. Besides beating, electrically shocking and forcibly feeding them, the
people in the brainwashing center also use collaborators (2) to besiege Dafa
practitioners for lengthy periods, conduct forcible brainwashing sessions, and
mentally attack practitioners. For example, they made use of two collaborators,
Xi Chunjin and Zhang Xiuqin, to besiege Dafa practitioners in turn. In order to
entice the collaborators, they also paid them a salary. They also added unknown
drugs covertly into Dafa practitioners' food and drink, which caused Dafa
practitioners to have physiological abnormalities. Some Dafa practitioners are
unable to care for themselves due to the torture they have suffered; some are
at death's door; some are at a state of mental collapse; some have even died
from torture. The following is a partial listing of known events that took
place in the Zhangjiakou City Brainwashing Center in May 2004.
1. Dafa Practitioner Ms. Zhang Yuzhen in Zhangjiakou City Was Tortured to
Death

Dafa practitioner Ms. Zhang Yuzhen in Zhangjiakou City was persecuted
repeatedly because she refused to give up her belief in
"Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance". On the night of February 17, 2004, the
police of the Qiaoxi Branch of Zhangjiakou City Police Department and the
Dajingmen Police Station of Qiaoxi District destroyed a materials distribution
center [where flyers and other materials are printed in order to expose the
persecution of Falun Dafa]. Ms. Zhang Yuzhen and several other fellow
practitioners were arrested and detained in the Zhangjiakou City Shisanli
Detention Center. Ms. Zhang went on a hunger strike to protest the persecution.
She became very weak. Under the situation that the detention center refused to
accept her, the Qiaoxi Committee of Politics and Law and the Qixi Branch of
Police Department did not release her, but transferred Ms. Zhang to the
Zhangjiakou City Brainwashing Center for continuous torture. Regardless of Ms.
Zhang's health situation, the people at the brainwashing center strengthened
brainwashing, besieged her in turns, and brutally force-fed her until May 4,
2004 when she was tortured to death. She was just 48 years old when she died.
When Ms. Zhang Yuzhen was at death's door, the people at the brainwashing
center did not send her to a hospital for emergency treatment in time and also
did not inform her family to take measures as soon as possible. After she died,
they also did not give her family any explanation. Ms. Zhang Yuzhen was
tortured to death by a conspiracy among the Qiaoxi Committee of Politics and
Law of Zhangjiakou City, the Qiaoxi Branch of Police Department, the Dajinmen
Police Station of Qiaoxi District and the Zhangjiakou City Brainwashing Center.
2. Eighteen-Year-Old Practitioner Ms. Zhang Conghui Is Tortured to a State
of Mental Collapse

Dafa practitioner Ms. Zhang Conghui was a sophomore at the Xuanhua No. 1
High School of Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province. She was of good character and
academic performance. She was expelled from school because she clarified the
truth at school. She was forced to go to Tiananmen Square in order to appeal.
Later, she was illegally detained in the Zhangjiakou City Brainwashing Center.
One time, she saw that the blackboard had some words on it defaming Teacher
Li [the founder of Falun Dafa], so she erased them. As a result, the
people at the brainwashing center tied her up with rope, beat her, and shocked
her with electric batons. Another time, she was not allowed to sleep for three
days and nights. During this period, she lost consciousness several times.
There are scars all over her body and hands from the torture she suffered.
Later on, she was detained alone and completely deprived of personal freedom.
After two months of torture, she was released on May 13, 2004. However, she is
no longer the Conghui of the past. Right now, she has a dull look, and she
exhibits mental confusion. Her mental capacity is just the same as a child of
two or three years old. This model student was tortured to a state of mental
collapse.
3. Cui Xinxiang Was Poisoned with Unknown Drugs and Tortured until Near
Death
Dafa practitioner Ms. Cui Xinxiang went to Beijing to appeal on many
occasions. She was detained several times and even sentenced to forced labor.
In the last ten days of December 2003, when she was handing out materials that
explain the truth about Falun Dafa in Wei County, Zhangjiakou City, she was
arrested again. After being detained in the Zhangjiakou City Detention Center
for two or three days, she was transferred to the Zhangjiakou City Brainwashing
Center. She was detained in a cell alone and forced to attend brainwashing
sessions. A monitor was installed in the cell to watch her around the clock.
Even when she went to the toilet, had meals and carried water, she was watched
and accompanied. She could not go out of the cell and did not have any personal
freedom. The brainwashing center hired someone to watch her. At the same time,
the center also made use of two collaborators, Xi Chunji and Zhang Xiuqin, to
besiege her in turns and conduct brainwashing. Ms. Cui went on a hunger strike
to protest. During the hunger strike, she was tortured twice by brutal
force-feedings. After the hunger strike ended, the people at the brainwashing
center secretly added some unknown drugs into her food and drink, which caused
her to have physiological abnormalities. She was swollen from head to foot and
was unable to care for herself. She was tortured until near death. The
brainwashing center was afraid to take responsibility for her death. After they
extorted money from her family, she was released on May 29, 2004.
4. At Least Four Dafa Practitioners Currently Illegally Detained in the
Zhangjiakou City Brainwashing Center
As of May 30, 2004, at least four Dafa practitioners were being illegally
detained in the Zhangjiakou City Brainwashing Center, including:
Ms. Wang Lianying (Chen Aizhong's mother). All members of Chen Aizhog's
family practice Falun Dafa. They had a very happy family before the senseless
persecution began. Just because they would not give up practicing Falun Dafa,
Chen Aizhong and his younger sister, Chen Hongping, were tortured to death (http://www.clearwisdom.net/emh/articles/2003/4/19/34685.html
). Even while suffering the grief of losing her beloved son and daughter one
after the other, Wang Lianying would not compromise her beliefs. Recently, Chen
Aizhong's mother, older sister and younger brother have been arrested again.
His older sister, Chen Shulan, is detained in the Tianranghe Female Jail of
Daxing County, Beijing City. His mother, Wang Lianying is detained in the
Zhangjiakou City Brainwashing Center and continuously tortured.
Ms. Liu Chaohong was sentenced to 5 years of imprisonment because she
refused to give up practicing Falun Dafa. She was detained in the Manchen Jail
of Baoding City, Hebei Province (i.e. the Taihang Jail). Since she insists on
upholding her belief, she was transferred to the Shijiazhang City Jail in Hebei
Province.
In addition, Dafa practitioners Xu Zhongxiang of Zhuolu County, Zhangjiakou
City, Cui You of Zhangbei County, Zhangjiakou City, etc. have also been
illegally detained here with a lengthy term.
5. Zhangjiakou City Brainwashing Center's Funding Source
The brainwashing center hires collaborators and other people to watch Dafa
practitioners. Where does the funding come from? Jiang's regime takes inhuman
measures to "ruin their reputation, cut them off financially and destroy them
physically" in persecuting Dafa practitioners. Physically, they use all the
means of persecution there are, from all times and all lands. Financially, they
pressure employers to fire people or garnish their wages and police and
government agencies issue fines and search people's homes, confiscating
personal property and stealing money. The following are two examples from the
Zhangjiakou City Brainwashing Center:
Dafa practitioner Ms. Cui Xinxiang was extorted out of 800 Yuan (3) per
month, including a monthly salary of 400 Yuan that she has to pay to the person
in charge of monitoring her, 200 Yuan for meals, 100 Yuan for toothpaste and
100 Yuan for other expenses.
Dafa practitioner Ms. Wang Lianying is being extorted out of 900 Yuan per
month. This includes a monthly salary of 700 Yuan that she has to pay to the
person in charge of watching her and 200 Yuan for meals.
In addition, there is another brainwashing center in Qiaodong District,
Zhangjiakou City. Dafa practitioners Wang Zhong and others have been illegally
detained there for a lengthy term because they refuse to give up practicing
Falun Dafa.

(1) The "610 Office" is an agency specifically created to persecute Falun
Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and
all other political and judiciary systems.
(2) "Collaborators" are former Falun Gong practitioners who have
turned against Falun Dafa due to brainwashing and torture.
(3) "Yuan"--Chinese currency; 500 Yuan is the average monthly income for an
urban worker in China.
